Wow...I wasnt sure if I would buy a press but now can't wait to get one. How permanent will the htv be. Can the mug go into the dishwasher. I would love to see you use htv on a regular mug.
I’m really happy to know that the HTV worked in the mug press. I have been going back and forth trying to decide if I wanted to delve into sublimation. What really holds me back is the cost of the printer and ink. This would at least give me a better option for making mugs. The cost of the mug press is financially a better choice for me. Thanks for sharing! This makes my heart happy!
Hey Jana! It's all about what works best for you and your crafting needs. Are you a personal crafter or have a small business? Does it make sense for you to spend the money on sublimation supplies? It's a lot to consider! We are here to help if you have any questions!!
Thank you very much for showing this. I have a mug press and I'm very happy to find there's other materials in which I can use on a mug besides infusible ink thank you thank you thank you 😊
It's good to know that we can use copy paper or parchment paper..ty for clarifying that.. I'm always using parchment paper for allot of projects so glad to know I don't have to wait on an order for bakers paper to arrive..
I used my empty 15oz can of beans to Sublimate on. I cut 2 strips of my Cricut Infusible ink sheets and wrapped & taped them to the can . One on top and the other on the bottom. Left the middle of the can which has ridges alone. I ran the full cycle. Of course I had to turn the can around in my press to finish the Sublimation were the handle for a mug would of been. I use and decorate empty cans to hold my crafting supply's. This will put to good use any infusible ink leftover strips.
Hey Jennie! Before testing out any other mugs, make sure you take measurements because not all mugs are sized to fit this mug press and it's not adjustable outside it's normal range. Hope this helps! ---Becky

Amazing! I was kind of not sure if I wanted to get the Mug press but seeing this makes me really want to get one knowing it can do more than just infusible ink/sublimation! Thank you for this tutorial!
Thank you! I appreciate you taking on the challenge! With this said, the rest of us can feel better about our investment of the mug press with the additional usage you’ve proven! 🤗
Thank you sharing! I don't have a printer to use for sublimation ink and was hoping this would work. I am now subscribed to your channel and look forward to learning more from you.
Thank you so much. I am new to crafting and wasn't able to use my mug press often due to not having a sublimation printer and infusable ink is challenging at times. Once again thank you for sharing
Since the temperature of your dishwasher will vary, I would still handwash only. Some crafters say that it holds up in the dishwasher, others don't, do it's a coin toss to be honest. Hope this helps! ---Becky
This is a total game changer!!! I can't wait to get to Dollar Tree to get some mugs to try this out!!! Thank you so very much for sharing this tutorial!! I'm so excited!!! Do you think this might withstand the dishwasher and/or the microwave better than permanent vinyl? ❣💐🌸🌺💐🌸🌺💐🌸🌺❣
Hey Lorraine! Before testing out any other mugs, make sure you take measurements because not all mugs are sized to fit this mug press and it's not adjustable outside it's normal range. As for the dishwasher, dinner crafters say that it will hold up, others say there's washes off. I believe it's because of the different temperatures for individual dishwashers. Definitely DO NOT put in the microwave. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Newbie here, why can't it go in the microwave? My husband wants a coffee mug but he reheats his coffee in the microwave all the time, so is there any vinyl that can go in the microwave?
I just wanted to first say thank you for your quick and to the point tutorial, it is so frustrating to get sucked into a video which turns into videos and still not have any instructions 😜 My question is will it be dishwasher safe? And can you do print and cut option with the printer paper like the infusible pens or will the water slide paper decals work with the press as well??? Thank you again 💁🏻♀️
Hey Aprylmae, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Since the temperature of your dishwasher will vary, I would still hand wash only. You can definitely use the Infusible Ink pens with the mug press, but I don't think I would use it with Waterslide or as a print and cut transfer. Some crafters say that it holds up in the dishwasher, others don't, do it's a coin toss to be honest. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Thank you! Question, you said it went to the third light, but did it reset after your first 30 second press? If so, maybe it needs more than the third light? My mug press is on order, so I don't have it to test yet.
Hey Suzanne! It's possible, it won't be an exact science with using HTV. But I think that 60-seconds should be a good pressing time, I'll play with it again this afternoon. Although I have on a few occasions, I don't think I would regularly press HTV at this high of a temp for more than a minute. Hope this helps! ---Becky
So Becky if I have a mug press attachment to my heat press that can have temperature adjustment, could I then use any htv with this same process? Is so, What temperature and time would you suggest? Thanks 😊
Hey Sasha, if you are using a "regular" mug press and can adjust the temperature, then the recommended settings from the heat transfer vinyl manufacturer should work. For most, it's around 320 degrees F for 15-20 seconds. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hey Linda! Unfortunately no, I don't believe so. I only experimented with the Glitter HTV because I knew it could be used with the higher temperatures for sublimation. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hey Faith, I would probably just try to time it for 45-60 seconds and then remove. I'm not sure how reliable the lights are for timing. Glad you are enjoying the videos! ---Becky
Hay, thanks so much for this video. I'm pretty new to Cricuting, and hadn't even considered HTV in this way. Can I use regular HTV, or does it have to be glitter? and is it necessary to seal it after pressing?
Hi Laura! Around the 9 minute mark, Becky talks about how HTV is durable so I don't think it has to be just glitter. Let us know how it turns out if you try regular HTV! 😊
Hey Keti! For the dishwasher, some crafters say that it will hold up, others say there's washes off. I believe it's because of the different temperatures for individual dishwashers. Definitely DO NOT put in the microwave. Hope this helps! ---Becky

I have been doing infusable ink on mugs in an oven with a silicone wrap. I really REALLY do not want to spend $200 on the mug press. I am guessing this would also work in the oven, but would need to be in there for longer. I am thinking a couple minutes. Wonder if you have any thoughts on that. I do agree that permanent vinyl is ok on mugs, but prone to peeling. I don't know how permanent HTV will be
Hey Oliva, I don't think I would do this in an oven, but I sure used to do it with a home iron and have recently done it also with the EasyPress Mini. I'd be worried the wrap wouldn't have enough pressure for the HTV since it needs more pressure than sublimation and Infusible Ink. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Do the mugs have to have straight sides to use HTV & mug press? I've found some really nice mugs at a store closing & bought several to use with vinyl. Would love to sublimate them BUT they're not straight 🤨
Thanks for the video. Do you know if anyone has tried the Mod Podge dishwasher safe gloss over the HTV? I had heard of someone using it over the permanent vinyl.

The look is sort of that of a transparency color. Nothing like the solid infusible ink sheet, but nevertheless it's pretty and different.

I went and got another brand as Amazon has a better deal so I'm going to try this and see if it works wish me luck . Great learning video.

Thanks for this alternative use for the mug press

Can the htv glitter on the mug be put in the dishwasher or the microwave?
