You have just blown my mind less than a minute into the video. I didn't realise there were templates to make sure it was the correct size! I have been measuring 😆 Ah, thankfully I am still new to this so I haven't been doing it long.
Thank you! I am new to everything Cricut but want to make some gifts in the next few weeks and this has answered my layering questions for using infusible inks!
I usually set my mug on a level surface upright. Then I hold my infusible sheet around but not fully touching yet. I bring the two sides around the mug to the handle and then, once I've got it centered where I want it I lay one side down. Then working from that side I press it all down until I reach the other side making sure it is straight to bottom and top. Easiest way to do it. I then heat tape top and bottom wherever I see minor gaps. That keeps it from doing blow outs which cause a ghosting effect. If either of the sides aren't sticking well I heat tape those too. Placing heat tape just to show where the actual design ends on each side helps to center it within the mug press too. You'll get ghosting on one side if it's not correctly centered when you clamp down your press.
Thanks for the video. It has been quite a long time since I decorated a mug! I need to get my supplies out and make a mug :) I was having flashbacks to all the mistakes I have made... and I am pretty sure I have made them all and some I have made multiple times. I can't tell you how many times I put the design on upside down. And of course I will occasionally forget to mirror. I have never done the water technique. I guess I let it cool with the infusible ink on. I don't remember how I did it. But I'll keep that in mind next time.
Hi, I noticed you've promoted a mug press and I was wondering if you could share your long-term experience with it. Have you used it intensively for your sublimations? After a year of use, have you encountered any technical issues, particularly regarding temperature maintenance? I've read several reviews on Amazon where users report problems after around 20 sublimations, so I'm curious if you've noticed anything similar. Thanks a lot for your help!"
Hi! I dont use a mug press for a business, but rather occasional uses so Ive not had an issue with mine at all, but I have made many many mugs with it without a single issue. but it is important to remember that occasionally there will be a bad one in the batch, but the Cricut mug press is still my favourite!
Hi Kelly 😊! Thank you for the great tutorial! It was very helpful and I successfully managed to make my first 2 mugs after watching it. Would you be able to share the link that PHD mug that you said you found the design for on DesignSpace? I love that edge design by the handle on that 😍
Hi Sumeshni! Ah im so glad to hear that! 💚 Well done!! Sure! Im not sure why I havent shared it before! design.cricut.com/landing/project-detail/6383baac7b12b617aaf92ad7 Have fun 💚
I would like to know when you started what do you do do you get the machine first of the cup machine first cuz I would like to learn how to do it could you please help me being a new person who is interested in this please thank you so much
Welcome to this awesome new craft! Good question! It depends on what your main focus will be! You dont need a Cricut to work with the mug press, as you can use sublimation prints, or infusible ink (sublimation) pens to make mugs with. But you also can use other methods to make mugs - like using your oven and shrink wrap. Loads of new opportunities to explore!
I would definitely make the one overlap, as you may not get EXACT measurements unless you use digital calipers to measure with 100% accuracy, Its often easier to use the white border as an offset to avoid tiny white gaps because its not perfectly the right size
when I slice the second one and send to back, the slice result of the offset, the green layer, though selected does not move, I have to move it to back on it's own when then changes the colors and everything..?? I think I figured it out by moving the layer from the layer panel.
I would suggest welding the image and the word together :) If they are cut out of different colours you can select the word and image, offset them and keep them separate!
In addition you can let your infusible ink markers draw extras on the infusible ink sheets to highlight the secondary color. Just have to make sure it's a contrasting color a single layer writing font or design. Wish youtube allowed photos so I could show you that.
Cricut do have plain white mugs like this, and a few other bevelled sizes. Im not sure what you are looking for specifically, but most prefer to use generic brands as they are a lot cheaper.
I do not recommend putting mugs in water. Infusible ink is not still sublimating without the paper btw. Infusible ink is only doing that with the paper still on. Just leave the paper on until the mug is fully cool. It will not ghost if you used your heat tape correctly. And never reuse copy paper because any residual Infusible Ink can transfer to your next project.

heheh im incredibly glad I can help!
Thank you for this video! I’ve been trying to learn how to layer with no luck, but I will try again while watching your video
Cant wait to see how it turns out!!
This is a fantastic technique. Thank you for sharing it with us. I have saved it to my library for future reference and practice.
You're very welcome!

That was amazing! Very clever Kelly loved it ❤
Glad you liked it!!
Loved this tutorial ❤ thank you. I’m still trying to master contouring
You can do it! Just keep practising!
Thanks for showing how to slice and weld.. that’s been the confusing part for me
I'm so glad I could help! 😄
These tutorials are fantastic ! , the mugs are next level
Glad you like them!

Good luck on your next mug - allow yourself room to make mistakes, it happens to us ALL! Ive got many messed up mugs from mistakes :)
Omg your awesome so easy to follow as I'm new to cricut,
Thanks so much 😊 welcome to the channel!! 💚

Very cool!
Thank you!
The best way to handle the infusible ink, so oils from your hands don't get onto it, is to wear disposable gloves. That's my tip for everyone 😊
Great tip!
If your words are same color as wrap do you need to slice or just cut after you offset
You can just attach it :)
from the point where you resize the text, how did you get it on the blue part? I'm stuck there. TY
Continue on in the video - I explain it after that
How do I cut a perfectly sized window in an infusible ink transfer sheet to exactly fit the sublimation printed photo?
I would definitely make the one overlap, as you may not get EXACT measurements unless you use digital calipers to measure with 100% accuracy, Its often easier to use the white border as an offset to avoid tiny white gaps because its not perfectly the right size
Does it have to be the circut mugs or can I use a regular white ceramic cup in it ?
You can use any sublimation mugs as long as they are the same circumference as the cricut ones
@@KellyRossouw oh okay are ceramic mugs considered sublimation mugs then? Thank you!
when I slice the second one and send to back, the slice result of the offset, the green layer, though selected does not move, I have to move it to back on it's own when then changes the colors and everything..?? I think I figured it out by moving the layer from the layer panel.
Glad you figured it out!
How do I combine the offset and text so it’s only one layer
This depends on what you want your design to look like. You may need to slice them!
I want to add an image and a word how would I still be able to create this type of mug doing both? I'm stuck at minute 3 of our video.
I would suggest welding the image and the word together :) If they are cut out of different colours you can select the word and image, offset them and keep them separate!
Thank you so much, I got it💜🩷
What do you have on you table? I like it a lot!
hehe thanks Ma! Its my self healing mat 😍
@@KellyRossouw it's pretty 😍

Does Cricut make professional looking mugs? Is it suitable for a small business? Or is it more for hobbies?
Cricut do have plain white mugs like this, and a few other bevelled sizes. Im not sure what you are looking for specifically, but most prefer to use generic brands as they are a lot cheaper.
@@KellyRossouw I mean if the print quality and durability are good enough to sell? Thanks for your reply!
What did I do wrong my text cut out individually
Did you duplicate the text layer too? Only the outline should be duplicated, otherwise it will cut right through.
I do not recommend putting mugs in water. Infusible ink is not still sublimating without the paper btw. Infusible ink is only doing that with the paper still on. Just leave the paper on until the mug is fully cool. It will not ghost if you used your heat tape correctly. That hasn't been my experience, but thanks for sharing yours! Warm water works perfectly for me.
Only 12oz Cricut mugs fit my mug presser, yet I bought 15oz Cricut mugs and was not able to use them. No fun!
the 15oz mugs do fit into the mug press, I have made a few of them :) The mugs need to be taller, but the same circumference as the 12oz :)
I use 15 oz mugs in my Cricut mug press regularly and don’t have any issues
I am so unbelievably confused. There has to be a simpler way.
Aw no! Try pausing the video at each of the steps to follow along. Rewind and rewatch if you have to! You got this 💚
You and me sister!
