i'm 56 years old I saw Van halens 1978 and 1979 World tours ..nothing like them NO ONE AND I DO MEAN NO ONE PAST OR PRESENT Could even come close to Eddie van halens Guitar genius..a innovator from the very start and still is 40 years later..he changed the whole guitar playing world forever..
COULDN'T AGREE MORE ANGELO
That is exactly right , he was the greatest EVER and on a level far above anybody else who ever lived . He was just soooooooo much more than a truly brilliant guitar player . They call him "THE KING" for a reason and that's because he was and always will be.
Agreed 100% no one could create the electricity that the MIGHTY VAN HALEN DID.
🙏
better than Hendrix.
These london and manchester shows would be perfect to be put out as live albums just as is, these shows are flawless and mighty
Out in Japan on CD from Zodiac
My favorite VH song, On Fire." I have been to every tour from 78 to 2007. I believe My mouth was dropped the first time I watched Eddie start riffing out Later in the mid 80;s I don't remember much... LOL
Saw them shortly after this on 07/16/78 opening the Mississippi River Jam in Davenport, Iowa. This recording is gold. It captures the launching of the Van Halen juggernaut. The Van Halen Roth years raised the bar to heights not equaled since.
holy shit, I think this is the best van halen bootleg
They were young, hungry, eager to prove themselves, no rock star ego's.
I've spoken to people over the years who were actually at this gig ( I was only 4 at the time of the concert). To think that I would actually hear this concert is mind blowing!!!!!
will say it a million times, and mean it everytime Being a guitarist myself, I know what EVH was to me. Everyone else here knows what he meant to them. You can throw out all the superlatives you want about The Master, but there is never going to be an argument about his mastery of his chosen art. No else had players around the planet going "What the F is that". From his grin to his fingers Eddie was born to bring us joy through his expression of his art, and you can thank whatever god you believe in that he shared his joy with us.
ALWAYS #1
UNPARALLELED.
I totally agree brother. I've never met you but you are my soulmate lol.
When they were ANGRY and wild.
We can listen this !!
Great photos
I first heard this band in 1978. This guy I worked with always had new music. It blew my mind. At the time there were no music videos. The only thing I knew about them was the album cover and the album. A few weeks later I saw they were gonna open for Ted Nugent at capital centre in Maryland a whole bunch of us went. I thought at the time if this band is as good as the album. They are gonna be hudge Well" they were. I have read Ted Nugent said they sucked that night..I was there. He never said anything like that.but following a band like that had to have been a bummer. He was good but van Halen was amazing.
God bless Michael Anthony, who was always there to hit those high notes that were way beyond Diamond Dave's range. All he could manage was that weird signature yelp.
I have spoken to people who were actually at this gig!!!!!!!!!
Van halen saved hard rock and Metal ..
That's beauty! Awesome audio mix!🤘
I am 56 and went to see my favorite band at the time "Black Sabbath" and the opening act was Van Halen and I will never forget when these guys from LA came on I was like hell yeah then Ozzy and Sabbath came on and Ozzy was so messed up he could barely preform I actually left before there on core songs the next day was at the record store buying there debut album. By the way that concert was in Miami in 1978.
I love these recordings. The audiences are stunned. I was offered a ticket for the Newcastle show but I turned it down as I wasn't into Sabbath. If only I'd known, I regret to this today.
Gutted!!!!!
A Masterpiece!!
You can't blame him for being pissed, Eddie came along and everyone tossed their David Crosby 8-tracks and 33's....BWAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! :)
Holy Moly this is TREMENDOUS and just as good as Van Halen's epic performance at the Hammersmith Odeon . This is as good as it gets if you're a VH fan . Thanks for posting this .
Edwards the greatest of all time ,its simple I'll take Van Halen in its prime over any band, get so tired of people saying well it's so long ago ,Jordan came out almost 40 years ago and would dominate now ,just like May's and Aaron did 70 years ago,the great ones are great a 1000 years ago or a 1000 years from now
Now imagine being one of the Sabbath guys and having to follow this thing
They couldn't seen them at the palladium in n.y.
The Mighty VANHALEN: Staying Frosty . Love it
Shock and Awe...It would take days to recover from what you just seen and heard.
Indeed. I reckon I could still shock people by just playing this to them. The music goes on!!!!
Thank god for these recordings. Would be cool to hear one properly mixed and mastered if they are even in multi track form. I would buy it in an instant.
Van Halen were support for Black Sabbath and I was there. It would be true to say that their star was rising, as the sun was beginning to set on the Sabbath era. Great concert.
Right out of the starting gate.. Kicking a..!
up there with the best
I wouldn't want to have to go on after them.
Nothing can match the power of the mighty van halen, i would hate to have to follow them, i would just quit
Good Job With Sound !!!! Peace...
A little bit of "Ice Cream Man" in "I'm The One" from Eddie at 5:52.
Holy hell this is gold !
Unbelievable.
and very cool photos..
THANKS
Great thanks
Impresionante Van Halen.
Don't forget Alex
Trilogy,Jimi ,Tommy Bolin,EVH
9. Guitar Solo → Eruption 😲
This SOUNDS really great, but WHO TF is the guy playing the 5150 Hockey necked Kramer,@11:49?,Edward NEVER wore spandex tights of his patented pattern, and it rolls, past us again and again,in between GENUINE excellent Edward Van Halen/Whole VH band stills.
Also I'm really not too sure about the character wearing Spandex tights of Edwards 1984 Yellow Tiger Jeans being Dave, then we have the very straight Suit type Dude, possibly on Drums! Nice sneak, but again WTF?
ANYWAY it's only ONE pic. The Rest TRULY is VAN HALEN on FIRE! Thank You!
Perhaps this guy was a guest?
Ha! That is Lance Turner from the DLR-era tribute band Atomic Punks. Outstanding band!
What a great time to be alive. Things were so simple. And the music proved that....😈haha.
1.56 in that's not VAN halen photo its fan halen
Good eye.
What was the sound source for this recording, sound board or audience recording?
Soundboard
Gotta love those pre Floyd Rose days. Very Hendrix like
ZZZ best
How the fuck u follow that,u can't, fucking jamming best debut ever...
1:54 Not Van Halen.
Who's the one idiot who gave this a thumbs down?
@Dead Planet uhh, well if the footage doesnt even exist, that's a pretty effing stupid reason.
6:51 - WTF is this image??
They're only on stage for about 40 mins but they've got a bass solo, a drum solo, and a guitar solo. Way to waste time guys.
Uhh, its VAN HALEN. Solos aren't a waste of time, especially Ed and Al.
Eddies guitar sound was so impressive when it first came out but hearing it today its not very good.It needed a lot of eq in the studio to sound good and we thank Ted Templeman for that.
To you. I find it better than a lot of tones I hear nowadays.
@@faustoorieta agreed
It was over 40 years ago and It still sounds better than any other guitar tone I have heard since! 😮
Nowadays any body can sound processed and have any body's tone ..... wasn't so 40 years ago .....
I thought his tone was amazing in this recording! Especially for 1978 it was untouchable.
Why do they keep showing that ridiculously looking cover band
