    One correction: Piszczek promised his club that he will finish his football career there. He never planned to retire in 2020 in BVB. He also had offers from other clubs like Legia Warsaw but he wanted to keep his promise, therefore he joined GKS. He also invested in their training base and Youth system.

    There are a lot of examples in the German game at the moment.
    Sven and Lars Bender both joined their hometown club of TSV Brannenburg, taking part in the eight or ninth-tier of the league system, this year.
    Martin Harnik is a former Austrian international who now plays fifth-tier football for TuS Dassendorf.

      @@Pedro14ceara The Bender Twins deliberately chose to end their pro careers, nobody forced them. Still playing amateur football is more of a Hobby, probably. Toni Kroos' brother did a similar move recently.

    Goczałkowice Zdrój are pronounced something like "Goh-chau-ko-vitse Zdrooy". Incredibly stupid owner in short

    • @freonblast8125
      @freonblast8125 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The Layer of problems in Legia is massive,
      -Terrible Owner
      -They had a good start in Europa League this season so there was a group of party animals
      -No coach lasts more than a year
      -Instead of developing homegrown talents such as Pogoń Szczecin for instance that is rising, they sign some Segunda Division flops that flop there too
      -Thick atmosphere, players getting beaten up every now and then.
      That's it really, Legia are basically somewhat of a Polish equivalent of Barca with Bartomeu, thing is Legia always succeeded with this terrible management because the competition was also terrible, but recently the Polish League has been improving as a whole because of better managing, for instance a club Raków straight after promotion got 2nd place in the top flight because of a young, Polish billionaire that manages the club finances smartly and even though he's stingy, he's smart with his money. Pogoń another one, heavily invested in youth academy, their city, heck not even city, ENTIRE region has academies set up all over the place and they have an amazing youth squad good enough to compete with teams such as Deportivo. So basically it's not even a case of Legia being that bad, more just that the competition started improving, I'm in Szczecin and have like 10 friends in Pogoń's (2nd place team rn) academy, some of them ain't even that good, the thing is Pogoń will accept you even if you are 15 and just started because they are a factory and have produced alot of prospects because they know talent takes time, they also sometimes export to clubs such as Real Madrid. So yeah, Legia lacks the things that Raków and Pogoń for instance got and they fell off.

    I would've suggested former Aussie international Danny Allsopp, but IIRC he retired as a player about 5 years ago, after playing 3 seasons at the club where he (and another former Socceroo, Paul Wade) played his junior football, Croydon City Arrows (6th tier of football in the State of Victoria, 7th tier in AU). He played for Manchester City for a couple of seasons (and West Ham Utd?) and in a few different clubs around the world. Was glad that I got to see Allsopp in the twilight of his career at Croydon City, as well as at Melbourne Victory, playing alongside another AU international, Archie Thompson. That was a very formidable strike partnership. Memories...

    Just wanted to mention, that Kevin Großkreutz, who was part of the German World Cup Winning squad in 2014 (even though Jogi Löw refused to let him play) and competed in the Champions League Final 2013 (just to point out, that there was literally no reason to play Mustafi at the time, which almost made "us" lose against Algeria... anyhow) is now playing for TuS Bövinghausen in the 6th league...
