The complete off grid sauna, bathhouse build from start to finish on my land in the Canadian wilderness. 12 months of Cali, my golden retriever dog, supervising and helping me build the cabin alone, mostly with traditional hand tools, dealing with harsh weather, biting insects and distracted by the incredible scenery and wildlife of Ontario, Canada.

Boa it really is a TV show. I was just telling my wife this (she doesn't watch btw). I don't watch "regular" broadcast/cable TV and haven't for many years now. This is really a "TV" series. Weekly. Sort of like what TV would be in an hypothetical better world. A parallel universe if you will to our own. Man! I love this Canadian Aries!

Stopped in for 5 minutes and 2 hours later I'm disappointed it's ending! Amazing craftsmanship and astounding work, the hammered copper put it over the top, what doesn't this man do? Wow doesn't do it justice.

An actual sauna, as a Finnish person this warms my heart and raises so many memories of great summers next to lakes with similar saunas. Excellent work.
My husband and I have been watching for several years. It feels like we are also at the cabin while watching your videos which makes me feel very happy and peaceful. We have been inspired and have plans to move to our cabin in Northern Wisconsin within two years! We are very excited!! Thank you for all your hard work and long hours making these videos. Me and my hubby are in the exact same situation. I have him addicted to My self reliance. lol We have a north house now that is modern but we are scouting in Necedah for a good plot of land to get underway with our cabin. I have been searching the refuge surrounding area hoping to get adjacent so I will have all vegetation and no neighbors along the property. It is beautiful up there. We are hoping to go in Spring even if we have to go to our north house till we find the right piece of land. :) Good luck to you guys! I know Sean's videos have inspired us to.

i grew up on a farm/homestead, it was 10 acres of land in plymouth sorrento fl, one of our family friends had a similar plot of land and they had their 2 story house custom built out of the trees/logs they cleared off the land to make space for their home. i ALWAYS loved their house because it looked like linkin logs, and the inside was very rustic. i was always at their house, it was basically my second one lol.. such a sweet family. they birthed (at home birth) and raised 3 kids there and had plans to pass the homestead down to their kids.. its sad the government fought with us and forced us and them to sell our properties (eminent domain), bulldozed the 2 plots of land, and put the highway (the 429) straight through them... this video gives me joy just seeing the process cause it reminds me of home

I previously watched this fellow build a log cabin single handed without any power tools and think the prat’s who didn’t like this are snowflakes with no survival skills at all in all likelihood.

My Grandfather passed almost a year ago. He was 91yo. The first house he built my grandma when they were 17 was a little log cabin. It had no running water and a wood stove.

I agree mate...I'm in the same boat..I'm 49,,I'm set to retire at 55..on that day I'm liquidating all my assets and purchasing land in northern British Columbia....I have a 5 year plan,if I could do half as well as shawn,..I'll be happy as a pig in shit

This is what life was like before TV, telephone, the internet and movies. Our entertainment were our animals, fishing, camping or simply playing in the woods. Visiting family weekly and going to church on Sundays. Now that’s really living. Your videos have taken me back in time when life was so much easier and laid back even though you worked your fanny off. God Bless all your efforts❤️

For someone that is not an outdoors type of person, I've enjoyed watching you build everything from the bottom up--by hand--ALONE! This is awesome and I can appreciate all the hard work and craftsmanship that you've put into creating such lovely pieces of art! I sat and watched this entire I consider myself self-reliant and have done some of the things in this video. But never to the extent that he does them. Hell, he had tools that I could not identify, and I have worked with a lot of different tools. Bravo.

@@Jack-hu7cb Before 1:52:00 there was some scents you can use to make your löyly smell different. (Please google translate löyly from finnish.) I'll update this if I spot anything else. And there was a white thingy thing I don't know the purpose of that had the word "Halko" on it, so I suspect that would be finnish aswell. I guarrantee on that. The Halko thing was shown at around 20:00 to 1:30:00. The kiuas could be finnish aswell but... that's always a wild guess when you can't see any identifying marks of the maker.
