Rivalries. Back then, it was ok for NBA superstars to absolutely hate each other, at least during the game. Then, many of the superstars would never have played on the same team with some of the other superstars. Rivalries make sports great. Now the NBA stars are trying to join each other on a super team and that is what waters down a rivalry and thus waters down the significance of winning a championship. As a 76ers fan I enjoyed hating Bird, Ewing, Dominique and all of the Pistons. I loved The Round Mound of Rebound, until he left, then I hated him. As fans we were supposed to hate other teams. Rivalries. Back then, it was ok for NBA superstars to absolutely hate each other, at least during the game. Then, many of the superstars would never have played on the same team with some of the other superstars. Rivalries make sports great. Now the NBA stars are trying to join each other on a super team and that is what waters down a rivalry and thus waters down the significance of winning a championship. As a 76ers fan I enjoyed hating Bird, Ewing, Dominique and all of the Pistons. I loved The Round Mound of Rebound, until he left, then I hated him. As fans we were supposed to hate other teams. You see your team fighting on the floor, you felt that. You cheered for your guys. Crazy good stuff.
