To me no matter what anyone else says bill laimbeer should be in the hof. He was a proving winner. A major contributor of those bad boy teams. A tremendous reason behind them winning the championship back to back. Also, in my opinion the best center in piston history.
Mostly Laimbeer played clever position defense in the paint. That alone upset a lot of the opposition. He was ALWAYS in the way down low. He led the league in rebounds a couple of years and did a lot of physical work around the rim. He was more physical than dirty. He had fast hands and was a great outside shot. Yeah, he would dish out some hard fouls but so did everybody else in that era.

Also remember that this was a time of heavy branding in the NBA to gain audience: LA had "Show Time" (like no one else had ever run a fast break or a behind the back pass); Boston had "Legacy": Chicago had Air Jordan and Detroit got the "Bad Boyz". Detroit played to what the marketing said they were. I saw a bunch of none Piston players on the floor whining about the foul they just received. I didn't see anyone carried off the floor or a busted arm or leg limping away.

Mostly Laimbeer played clever position defense in the paint. That alone upset a lot of the opposition. He was ALWAYS in the way down low. He led the league in rebounds a couple of years and did a lot of physical work around the rim. He was more physical than dirty. He had fast hands and was a great outside shot. Yeah, he would dish out some hard fouls but so did everybody else in that era.
Loved Bill did not take ANYBODY'S b.s. all the way until the end of his career... when told about what other players had to say about him retiring he replied I DON'T CARE!!! ✊💪

Great rebounder, good post defender and one of the original stretch fives. When Isiah drove it into the paint he often passed the ball to the outside to Laimbeer for the three pointer.
