    Sadly we didn't get sponsored by Instavolt, they are just very, very good with chargers that work!

      Instavolt should change that. They could sponsor the channel and we could watch some more EV and PHEV tests.

    Everyone can’t do it now. I feel sorry for new drivers who don’t have 50,000 quid to buy a new car.

    In my opinion you can't buy back time, and despite the cheaper electricity costs versus petrol, having to spend 80mins at a charging station waiting to get you 215 miles of range just makes this a terrible ownership proposition. Also a 80k car with only 200 miles range? This Audi is a long way from being a sensible car for busy families.

    The ev charging network gets stronger and stronger, chargers are popping up all the time, there’s around 10 including rapid within a 5m proximity of our little village. We travelled from Goodwood to near Kendal last September, and we recently did a couple of ev road trips and the infrastructure has significantly increased since then.

    There are limits on the supply of electricity and batteries, so EVs are only the future for a few, The internal combustion engine will be around for a while yet.

    A pity it is very inefficient in terms of how much energy it uses per mile. I used to have a Zoe and a three pin plug would give me ten miles per hour charging.

    • @alanjenkins1508

    Yeah. Getting a 240V charger at a garage is essential when getting an EV. 200 miles every time you're leaving the home should be well enough for an average day or even a moderate excursion.

    I have zero first hand experience with electric vehicles but from many videos and articles I've read, if you have any vehicle other than a Tesla, charging the car is very, very hit or miss. This is the way at least in the US. I don't know what the experience is like in the UK and the rest of Europe.

    An unusual test track...Totterdown Bristol has never been used for that before! That steep road...was a favourite test track for my Dad in the Firm”s Company Ford Populars..in 1956/59..so the 1172 cc side valve version which would climb hill...try that from the bottom!! The Audi looks goo but not yet...another year or two yet!

    Yes the infrastructure for electric charging is dominated by Tesla. Good light if you buy a Porsche Taycan it requires a 130 kwh, as apposed to the usual 120 kwh, from other manufacturer for fast charge. There's a video in from a couple in the U.S. state of Washington, in the whole state there's 1 or 2 fast charging stations. They can't drive beyond the 100 miles because there overnight standard plugin takes too long 15 hours to fully charge. It isn't a great purchase, & the expense doesn't satisfy it's performance. I imagine in the outskirts of major cities of England is the same. Great content, and good to know Porsche is not alone. 👦🏻👍🏻

    Electric cars might be the future but until you can get one to charge in 6 hours from home with over 60 miles range at least it’s not possible for most people who work especially someone like myself who works 12 hour shifts

    • @andyrobinson2493
      @andyrobinson2493 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a MG ZS EV and only charge from a three pin plug. My usage means i don't think about how many miles I put in when I'm asleep but then I sleep for more than 6hrs and commute 20miles for my 12hr shifts. Charging always appears more complicated than it really is and it's often EV drivers who make it sound worse talking about off peak charging and journey planning. Admittedly because of lockdowns Ive not used public charging on a long journey but honestly if your just commuting to your shift and don't drive 300miles on a whim it's just a car. Electric works for your life style and budget or it doesn't .

    • @pcr8918
      @pcr8918 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With a standard wallbox you will easily get 20 miles per hour charging- 120 miles in your 6 hour limit. More if you sleep.

    Sadly electric cars will we a rich mans car middle class won’t be able to afford one not on a average wage and anybody with a brain knows this and what they don’t tell is that as priced by a firend of mine with a small Japanese car that is popular with the public that his car is 5years old and the new battery will cost 6 .000 euro to replace imagine that so u have finished paying for your first electric car it’s yours and the battery life is so bad you have to pay for a new battery only to be told of that price .the impact on the earth and environment making of the car and the first battery and then the second battery that you need to buy and what if you can’t afford the new battery you now have a car it’s useless that you worked night and day for and before anybody harps on we did are home work you can’t replace the segments of this battery on this car and u can’t get a more modern battery that will work better .and on another note so when like a lot of people the don’t have bus service to avail of how are these people going to get to work when the diesel petrol cars stop been built so some one show me a cheap electric car new not second hand that will cover 160miles in a day and also not every business has charging point so how do you work that .so tell me this your a rep for a company you have 8calls to make sorry boss I can only do 3 calls my boss asks were are you now I’m charging it and this man has to be back in his home tonight he’ll have to charge it twice before he’s home now mite be 8oclock at night and he’s be going since 7that morning before he’s home these cars are not going to work a lot of country’s don’t have the infrastructure for all electric and to run them a lot of country s will have to go nuclear or back to coal burning again if we where to go wind power we would have to cover the country in wind turbines anyone can come up good ideas but to put them in to practice is clearly another sorry for the rant great channel btw👍
