MadSeasonShow Do you know whether I can join your current WOW guild? I’ve also missed classic from both the mango version and when I played on my dads account.
You can easily play Ret Pala and do everything you want. They are very good in 5mans and PVP. For Raids you should be able to find a guild for that 1/40 being a Ret is no big deal and since you are sort of a known personality there is no reason for a guild not to take you.
If Esfand can do it, you can too!^^

I'd be embarrassed to admit how many times I've rewatched all your Azeroth Arsenal/Time Warp/Quest Log/vanilla videos over the past few months since discovering your channel (a lot...it's a lot) and I'm super stoked for all the new content that's bound to be coming in future. It really shines through in your videos, monotone and all, the passion you have for vanilla/classic World of Warcraft, and it's really great to see. High quality content, and pretty much the only WoW TH-camr I watch regularly instead of just 'every now and again'.
I guess we don't really know how the server situation is going to be (named? numbered? how many? presumably pve/pvp options again, but how many of each? time will tell) but if, by chance, I end up on the same server, I'll be sure to give you Blessing of Might as we pass each other by in the rainy forests of Duskwood! And yes, I'm likewise considering a Ret Paladin, since pallies have my favorite class fantasy by far probably, and I main one in retail. Damn the meta, I'm here to have fun, not appease the small portion of min-maxers who want everything 'just so'.

MSS sometimes gets criticised for his "monotone voice". I don't get that at all: his voice is *incredibly* expressive: nuanced, subtle, authentic. I don't want shouty jump-cuts from the usual suspects who start with "WHAT'S UP TH-cam"? or some such hackneyed piffle. Aside from that, MSS clearly knows what he's talking about. And he does so with thoughtful, reflective authority.

My goal is to get to 60 within a year by playing moderately.
Coop Shanks I needed 6 months back then, and I took it really slow
It took me 9 days of /played to get to 60 my first time around. And that wasn't using reckoning pally AoE grinding. So a couple hours everyday will get you there easy.
iirc i would get to lvl 20 in two to three days, then 1-2 levels a day. until 50s when it was even slower.
btw i never EVER grinded! i just visited as many zones as possible for quests and dungeons.
That won’t be hard. I went 1-60 in like 6 weeks this server playing only like 2-3 hours a day
Just try to get at least 1 level every time you sit down to play. It will go by quicker than you think.
Great video as always sir! Me and a few friends are looking to start a ground up guild in Vanilla. Being an early leveling guild leader I met so many members of the community and became well connected with most other raiding guilds on our server through members who moved onto other raiding guilds before we really had more than 5 lvl 60s.
By the time we had about 25 members lvl 60, we also had nearly a hundred level 60s in other guilds willing to pug with us on the weeks they weren't taken to their guild's raids. We ended up sucking a lot of those members back into our guild along with tag alongs. Ultimately we managed to start progressing into AQ40 and Naxx before TBC. It was an amazing experience, one that me and my returning friends hope to recreate in Classic! The way our community naturally formed around our guild speaks volumes to how much Vanilla encourage community building.
Hey MadSeasonShow, I know you're excited about making more guide/instructional videos as classic approaches, but please don't stop making the nostalgic / "fun" videos. That's why I subscribed in the first place!

Glad you're leaning towards Warrior. And yes, that is our transmog - the pre-T2.5 BiS clown suit. But at this point, I think you've earned the right to use it. Human Arms Warriors were the Rock to the the Rogue's scissors in Vanilla PvP: you might find it fun to turn the tables on your former self, so to speak.
regarding when to start putting out classic guides... well, I think things like class leveling guides would be great now. because a lot of us are really starting to think about the game, and what it would take to level each class, and it would be quite cool to have someone as smart as you MadSeason to go in depth on the classes.
Awesome news about the plans to make guides for some of the longer quest chains in Classic, will be watching your channel for sure, the guides you've made in the past have been great

Mate, you're legit one of the best, if not the best, (WoW) TH-camrs. You choose to make videos that you care about, and you're very open with what your ideas and thoughts are, personally, I really enjoy that! No matter what class, server or PVE/PVP you decide to play, I'm sure it's going to be enjoyable to watch!

For me - WoW was the fortenite of MMO's of it's era. The accessible game that everyone could pick up and understand how to use. It's been interesting to watch how players change over time and favour more complex games as they get deeper into it.
Was also around the same time that it became "cool" to be a "gamer" that really boosted the social aspect of these games. Really it was the people on those games that kept you logging back in. Even if you didn't personally know the other players, they filled the world with life.
Unfortunately - I feel we lost a lot of depth in our games when they made them easier to play - or get into. - but was it worth it? how do you quantify the friends you meet online in an MMO?

I'm looking forward to doing mage things again. I liked offering food/drink and portals after dungeons to my party. I liked the interaction.
Also looking forward to trying talent specs and combos I never tried back in the day. :D I'm going for arcane/frost mage and holy/ret pally first.

as for me, my first main was a priest and im still not over the trauma. but more recently, i spent a little over a year as a prot warrior on a vanilla fan server, so i dont feel like doing that all over again. on that server, i had almost 60'd a subtlety rogue and was having a blast with it, so i might go back to that...but i kind of want to go completely off the books and make a resto druid. still cant decide. like you, been thinking about it since announcement...still cant decide.
as for your guild plans, that doesnt really surprise me, given some of your previous comments. i am curious, though, do you plan on going 'public' with your character on the channel? or keep it a secret, and just play like any other unknown player?

I was seriously addicted to Vanilla, and it took a major toll on my life. I'd like to see a video about how to avoid getting sucked in. If I could play like 30 minutes a day max, and maybe a marathon session only twice a month, I could handle it. Rock on Mad-
I honestly really love your TH-cam channel, I don't know why it just has like a unique vibe to it, You're just so chill. And It's not complaining and ranting about BFA like other wow youtubers.
You should make a video about how to get to specific dungeons or raids in Vanilla since a lot of players like me who joined after Cata or during Legion don't know their entrance locations. Most videos out there are only 1 video per each dungeon/raid location. You can make a compilation on 1 video for all dungeon and 1 video for all raid locations and how to get there on either faction.
Choco Banana there was also attunement where you had to go through a pretty significant amount of work just to be able to enter.
If you do decide to make class leveling guides, might I suggest including the class-specific quests? Maybe some non-specific quests that offer clutch loot for the class as well. Keep up the great work MS!

Ret Paladin was the best choice I made. I was a Rank 14 Ret Pally on Deathwing. I was never taken serious until I started grinding PvP. I was the only Paladin allowed to DPS in raid once I was fully decked out in Grand Marshal gear. I could out DPS just about every class outside of Rogues. Ret was sick in Vanilla.

I'd say here are some recommendations for classic videos:
- Record the leveling from 1-60 as a gameplay series.
- Guide about the PreRaid BiS for every class or the classes you are playing.
- Profession Guides 1-300
- Recording first clear of every raid with your guild.
- Some PvP videos here and there.
- General Guides (How to move and not backpedal, Macros, Addons, ...etc.)
Subscribed. I noticed I hadn't done that yet even though I've enjoyed your style of WOW video in preference to many others. I particularly like what your remarks in this video reveal of your perspectives. You love the game and you don't do this just to score the clicks. I like that.

My go to class will most likely be druid or priest, because I am best at healing, and being a healer will likely make it much easier to get into groups. For DPS it will most likely be mage, because sheeping and freezing is just too much damn fun.
at the end of the day, i would enjoy whatever content you provide us with :)
I can't WAIT for classic! Got other games to play till then. I will make a gnome lock probably first, but I like the idea of making all the toons to 60, will probably do both pve and pvp, many servers.
Thanks for your videos. Vanilla wow was the best time of my life. I was 16 in 2005 and played from Feb 2005 until Cataclysm. Holy paladin. Can't wait for classic to come out. Please announce what server you will be playing on once that info comes out, I'd love to run a dungeon with you sometime.

I know that feel about playing Ret Paladin. I wanna play enhancement shaman in raid. I know that some guilds would allow ONE in a raid. I never got to do it originally since I got shoved into resto but I'm determined to grind all the gear as hard as I can to make it happen. Wish me luck! : )
As long as you get nightfall like any guild with a brain will take you in homie
To get in you’ll need to get to 60 quickly and get enhancement gear right away and a reputation for being good to group with.
The 40 man raid will take at least 2+ shami's because the totems need to cover a larger area. The 20-man raids will prolly take 2+. I wouldn't sweat finding a raiding guild.

I played a Paladin in Vanilla, and I loved every second of it...even though I went pretty deep into the Holy tree off the start. I was a real noob and mostly just wanted the reduction to pushback on casting my heals. I figured that would make it so I died less. It probably did help with the dying, but it also meant that killing things took longer and I had to drink after almost every fight LOL! That said, having access to Consecration was pretty fun once I got that deep.
I'm sure in Classic I will be smarter with my Talent points, but either way I am itching to get my keybinds on the old Seal/Judgement system again! Good times!
I think a guide to zone quests and where to find them outside the obvious town hub would be a neat idea.
Fury warrior! It isn’t super popular but I loved it a decade and a half ago and I love it still.

Idk BFA was just meh for me. It felt a lot more redundant and I just didn’t enjoy it as a hopes I could. I’m looking forward more to Vanilla for my wow experience.
Bfa was not completely released though. The REAL bfa comes out with 8.1 next month.

I seriously believe BFA to be the WORST wow exp ever. Even worse than WOD. I'm getting so fed up with this RNG Slot-machine simulator. It makes me sick. I'm so burnt out and bored of this expansion, whenever I hear bfa music or see the login screen, it makes me peel my eyelids off.
I've been playing other games like medieval 2 total war, witcher 3, kcd, skyrim, till classis releases. I've legit uninstalled retail wow, even though I had 2 months left of subscription.

Since Blizz have said they're trying to make it as close to the original as possible, it might be interesting to bring out those OP builds that later got nerfed. Some of them should be available in the first release for sure. I wonder how they'll tackle them and the response from the crowd.
Here's my WoW story. I was 14 and had to do a group theater project with some seniors. One of them played WoW, vanilla obviously, and he was a Retribution Paladin. I would just take his character into BGs and he would run me through Deadmines on my shitty Fury warrior that I didnt know how to play. (Btw, he still exists.) Since I was playing his Paladin, who was really geared at the time, I was wrecking people in AV even though I had no idea what I was doing. Well, I quit the warrior and rolled my human Paladin, Volfmir. I had him do blacksmithing. I leveled him dutifully, respeccing all the time to test out builds, grinding ghouls in the plague lands trying to get out of the 50s. I hit 60, got my charger, and I was a happy man. There was a ton of Retribution bigotry, and so I took to healing. Since I loved the DPS build, I healed my way to my strength plate gear. It wasnt long until BC came out, but I was always trying to be main spec Ret. With the couple of changes in BC, Ret was taken a little more seriously. The guild I was in was very supportive, and they would pay me to hearth back and respec between healing or DPS, depending on what we needed in Karazhan. Eventually, I became the first raiding Retribution Paladin on Maelstrom. And I was happy.

I voted for Warrior, I think you'll like it. Even if you go arms/fury you should be ok to tank dungeons. 31/5/15 was a pretty common build back in the day for warriors who wanted to DPS because they could still OT stuff in raids. I think it took all the way up to Naxx40 for a deep protection spec to be necessary for surviving some of those bosses. I don't know if/when you ever tanked, but keep in mind Classic is still in the days when you needed to cap defense at 420 (blaze it?) to be crit immune in raids. But that also means you'd need an extra set of gear on top of resistance gear. Though at least a lot of tanking gear/tier sets also have resistances on them.
Ret paladin would be the same if you wanted to raid and were ok with spec swapping to holy for raiding. Though I feel like ret wouldn't be so bad if your raid can spare a debuff slot for your judgment. You could do light or wisdom to give raid healing/mana regen, but I don't remember classic ret mechanics enough to know if they need another judgment to do good dps.
Combat rogue would give you the least amount of gear to have to haul around since you'd just need DPS gear and resist sets.
Its funny cuz its one of those things that happen when you remember about past events. What would I do differently if I had another shot? Back in classic, DPS warrior was my main and I was just some kid who never played an MMO before experiencing a whole new world. I was so bad at the game lol. Knowing what I do now, the classes I am looking to play will probably be Mage/Rogue
I play on Moonguard so the question at 5:54 has been on my mind too. I'm hoping there will just be a classic server named "Moonguard" to inherit the sins.

This is probably gonna be what I play:
PvP - Shadow Priest (possibly PvE too once the later patch launches that buffs them so they're a hybrid utility kind of spec)
PvE - Frost/Fire Mage and or Aff/Destro Lock (depending on if there's debuff / DoT limits in classic)
As you can tell I like casters mostly. I considered ele shaman in PvP but thats like competitive gambling since you hardly one shot people with double windfury crits.

A niche I haven’t seen for Classic: lore based leveling routes. For the player who wants to see all of the night elf areas while leveling, the player who wants to follow the tauren, etc
I would totally love to play with you. We both played back in Vanilla, and have monotone voices with the same type of humor! =P I still have to wait about 12 more weeks before I can have my PC in my own house (AIT school for Army at the moment, although I am a former Marine). I also barely have friends :( (super picky on people).

When Classic comes out, you should do monthly progress updates in video form, detailing recent gear you've obtained, content you have completed, etc... Sort of like what WowHobbs used to do.

Hopefully they'll have them as separate entities with an optional character migration. i.e. Classic servers remain running and you can still roll for the vanilla experience, but if you get bored at cap when all the content is released, you can migrate a character to the BC server and continue from there.
For me its gonna be fury warr, as it is one of the top tier DPS at end game.
I think what Ret needs in BWL era is 5 judgment + 3 field marshal, so you dont need to outbid warriors on any dps plate.

Madseason, from what i gather you have a job that you like, but if my impression is wrong then i'd heavily recommend you to start streaming, you're the type of guy that i'd watch even without a camera and based on what i've seen in the comment section the last few months/year there is definitely people interested.
Just wanted to let you know in case you're doubting yourself you can do this sort of thing for a living, but a common saying is don't make your hobby your work, since then you will dislike it when it becomes a obligated task rather than doing it when you want to :)

I used to raid as a ret pally back in vanilla, dps wise I was middle ground as i was not super geared but the extra buffs and off heals was the main reason i was in.
I had two maces at one point on my combat rogue. I went pvp spec'd and loved it. The huge "CHUNCK" sounds every other swing. hah like smacking moles back into their holes :D
It's interesting how some people have that "main" sense of mind, only playing one character while others like me always in all games levelup all available classes at the same time with rotation. I wonder if there are other distinct differences too.

I'd be down to have a mobile client as well as a PC client. I have a great phone, and being able to herb farm on the go would be amazing. I know fully utilizing your class on a phone would be next to impossible, but mundane tasks would be perfect for a mobile client.
How to get into a raid as a ret paladin: agree to be the guy that equips Nightfall permanently (+15% spell damage proc for your raid)

You should start the Monotone Marauders and just be like the ceremonial GM of it. Someone else can run it for you. My TBC guild had a GM like that. The assistant GM did everything.
I feel like what Blizzard wants to do with the next expansion after Battle for Azeroth is going to be HUGE. I say this because I feel like Classic is going to be the time dump between BoA and the following expansion. They'll probably do some minor patches or major patches before the next expansion, probably having more than just a 8.3 (possibly up to an 8.5), so that current players still have something to do, but so they don't have to worry about keeping everyone around, they can use Classic to give them an extra year to work on the next expansion. By the sounds of it, they are interested in number crunching levels and, once again, redoing the talent/skill system, since they have remarked that every level should give you something and make you feel more powerful. I also feel like they are probably going to HD all the content prior to Warlords of Draenor (including Pandaria) since they keep dropping small changes to maps and models every patch, and they were talking about updating quests.
Retribution, ofc ... there is so many ppl playing as warrior.......so warriors are " meh "
