I SINCERELY HOPE THAT ALMA FAN'S APPRECIATE YOUR TIME AND EFFECT PUTTING THESE RARE RECORDINGS ON UTUBE I KNOW THAT I DO SO ONCE AGAIN A BIG THANK YOU SINCERELY DAVID HARTLEY
Very kind of you to comment David. I have been playing tapes and records of Alma a lot lately and I enjoy uploading an item that fans might not have heard, or not heard for a long time.
We would not have heard Alma sing this if you had not had the foresight to post this. Thanks for posting this gem from Alma. It proves just how versatile Alma really was.
I have this as it is included on a rare CD which has her foreign language recordings as well as other rarities. She was very near the end of her life when she recorded this, bless her.
This was recorded by Alma on 7th May 1965 and was requested for the 3 CD set A-Z of Alma and the 4 CD set The Girl with the Laugh in her Voice. On both occasions EMI claimed the master tape could not be found even though matrix number 7XCA 28976 was allocated

Such a poignant song at that point in Alma's life.
Hi Stephen, which CD is this? I'd love to find a copy!

Many thanks for the interesting information, Drew.
Thank you for sharing these rare recordings, I hope Alma is smiling on you.
Thank you, Chris.
The backing is very reminiscent of The Kingston Trio, so much so that Alma's voice could have been overlaid on their recording.
wheres the tape from and the acetate ?
The tape is from my own collection. I don't know where the original acetate is now.
