Actually according to wikipedia, John and George had this to say: n 1972, Lennon commented, "I still get a blast out of watching the Beatles cartoons on TV." In 1999, Harrison said, "I always kind of liked [the cartoons]. They were so bad or silly that they were good, if you know what I mean. And I think the passage of time might make them more fun now."
Ah, but Yellow Submarine was in PRODUCTION throughout 1967! I could point out more parallels between it, and 1967's "Strawberry Fields" episode (which segment I did not post myself because somebody else already did) -- depicting the sad children in shades of gray, like the Pepperlanders; and John's closing line "It's all in the mind, y'know!", which George spoke in the movie!
i heard that john wrote this song because paul would come to his house to write music , john was always asleep and wouldn't get out of bed. So this was john's way of saying "leave me alone paul!"
It is great to notice how much better the animation got (in regards to the "lads" singing) from the earlier eps. Also, I notice how much this animation is similar to that of "Yellow Submarine". Definite progression from the first ep (Hard Day's Night).
If you listen to the first couple of minutes of this episode with your eyes closed, you'll think it's a Dudley Do-Right cartoon (Paul Frees used the exact same voice for John that he did for Inspector Fenwick).
So this is the original I'm Only Sleeping music video. I also love the new one, but this version is hilarious!! I would love to see this cartoon digitally remastered like another favorite 60s cartoon of mine, Speed Racer.
It's fine to think of this as "the original 'I'm Only Sleeping' music video", although it's not *_literally_* that; it's an 'outside production' the Beatles were not involved with, besides 'donating' the music. (It was made by those who would go on to create the _Yellow Submarine_ movie, though with just a tiny budget here.)
Tacomapaul I'm only Sleeping is on The Revolver..just an fyi for ya.. Peace..I was lucky, I saw the Fab Four in Philly 1966. They came onto the fiekd in the back of a florists van. Awesome then, now and always ♡♡♡♡
It's really weird, but I love it at the same time. Now that we have better animation skills and technology, we should make a new brand of Beatles cartoons. I would be so happy if someone did that.
Hahahaha, Merlin's not even trying to fight the dragon. Thank god The Beatles were there. (This is the reason they didn't tour much in the late 60's you know)
It should be the version from the MONO "Yesterday and Today" album. The mono and stereo verisons of that album, as well as the mono and stereo UK "Revolver" albums, all had slightly different versions.
The first couple of minutes of this sounds very similar to the Beatles' 1966 Christmas Fan Club recording...That is, except for the fact that John has the same voice as Inspector Fenwick on "The Dudley Do-Right Show."
Ah, my "info" comment about Arthur "drawn to resemble a figure from the 'Yellow Submarine' movie" only meant that he's drawn somewhat like characters from that movie in general, not any one character in particular...
n 1972, Lennon commented, "I still get a blast out of watching the Beatles cartoons on TV." In 1999, Harrison said, "I always kind of liked [the cartoons]. They were so bad or silly that they were good, if you know what I mean. And I think the passage of time might make them more fun now."[1]
Paul Frees does George. Not sure about Merlin, but Lance P. definitely does King Arthur - sounds about the same as Paul! All female voices, I'm told, (like the peasant woman) were done by British Jackie Newman.
'Fraid not, 'fraid not. Though while that song doesn't have a full-fledged "episode", it does have a "sing-along" segment, which is basically just the song played with the lyrics shown in the lower half of the screen while simple animation of "still" objects shifting sideways (not even the Beatles, in this case) is shown in the upper half; in fact sideways movement of background elements often makes the lyrics hard to even read!
Ah yes, in fact, "Yellow Submarine" was made by the team that had already created numerous Beatles cartoon episodes! You can see about a dozen others that I've posted by searching TH-cam for "Beatles Cartoon alanr4447a".
It really gets to me that King Arthur is the only person to look anatomically proportioned in this whole cartoon.
these are wonderful cartons,
the music of the beatles,
is still the best there was.
thank you for `s video - lg gitte
Fantaaaaaaaastic!!! Beatles rule forever!!
Actually according to wikipedia, John and George had this to say:

Aaaah, this is SOOOO refreshing after three hours of CreepyPasta. :) Thanks so much, Beatles! *Hugs*
Wow! That is yet another episode I enjoy! Thanks for posting it up here.
John is right he is a group, he's 4 fellas, he's The Beatles. long live King John of the Beatles.(in my opinion)
Ahhh, the good old days.
Wow!! Awsome! That episode is another one of my favorites! : ) Thanks for posting this! I really enjoy it everytime I watch it! : D
I nearly fell asleep during the yawny-sounding guitar solo.
You're hitting all the right notes!
Great episode :D
This song is ahead of its time! I love it
1:57 Getting Better all the time. I wished they'd kept doing episodes after Revolver, so many episode ideas on Sgt Pepper alone
You notice King Arthur looks quasi-realistic
I LOVE this episode of the Beatles Cartoon ^^

el mejor grupo de la historia humana o quien me lo puede negar? solo los que no los han escucha
Ringo is the Starr of all of these episodes:] He's so wonderful:]]
Lmao George "The fans are getting rougherall the time!" XD Sooooo cute! :3
This is my favorite beatles cartoon so far XD
i heard that john wrote this song because paul would come to his house to write music , john was always asleep and wouldn't get out of bed. So this was john's way of saying "leave me alone paul!"
John's fallen asleep! John's fallen asleep!!
"The fans are getting rougher all the time!" i love that line!!!!!
It is great to notice how much better the animation got (in regards to the "lads" singing) from the earlier eps. Also, I notice how much this animation is similar to that of "Yellow Submarine". Definite progression from the first ep (Hard Day's Night).
The horse was my favorite character ever.
You have to love this!! :D
Merlin sounds like he just woke up. He looks like it too.
One of my favourites from Revolver!
If you listen to the first couple of minutes of this episode with your eyes closed, you'll think it's a Dudley Do-Right cartoon (Paul Frees used the exact same voice for John that he did for Inspector Fenwick).

"Oh, there you are, Jhon!"
".....Yeah."
This was the only episode I missed out of all the seasons.
Tacomapaul I'm only Sleeping is on The Revolver..just an fyi for ya.. Peace..I was lucky, I saw the Fab Four in Philly 1966. They came onto the fiekd in the back of a florists van. Awesome then, now and always ♡♡♡♡
For the single note, hold the ALT key and type 13 on the numeric keypad ♪ and release; for the double note the number is 14 ♫
It's really weird, but I love it at the same time. Now that we have better animation skills and technology, we should make a new brand of Beatles cartoons. I would be so happy if someone did that.
The voice actor for John and George was American; the actor for Paul and Ringo (and King Arthur) was British.
Hahaha, I hadn't seen this one! Is great!
I love this song. It like, defines me. ;)
this song is so advanced for those times!!! it doesn't seem to be recorded on 1966!!!
The first couple of minutes of this sounds very similar to the Beatles' 1966 Christmas Fan Club recording...That is, except for the fact that John has the same voice as Inspector Fenwick on "The Dudley Do-Right Show."
@TheMangaWarrior133 me too! i was at his concert here in rome on 5th of july A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
THE BEATLES FOREVER!!!
lol one of my faves
.♥.♥.♥.♥.
Well now. And here I always though Bard class characters weren't effective in a fight.
is this in yellow submarine?,haven't seen this before...my only fav song ,my whole life !
i never new the beatles were ever animated except for the yellow submarine.
beatles are masters in harmony
I Love this song. :]
Music soothes the savage beast.
Ah, my "info" comment about Arthur "drawn to resemble a figure from the 'Yellow Submarine' movie" only meant that he's drawn somewhat like characters from that movie in general, not any one character in particular...
Why this is have to be the last episode?!!!WHYYYYY!!!???
n 1972, Lennon commented, "I still get a blast out of watching the Beatles cartoons on TV." In 1999, Harrison said, "I always kind of liked [the cartoons]. They were so bad or silly that they were good, if you know what I mean. And I think the passage of time might make them more fun now."[1]
Even in the cartoons, these guys are cute!
R.I.P. John Lennon
R.I.P. George Harrison
Paul Frees does George. Not sure about Merlin, but Lance P. definitely does King Arthur - sounds about the same as Paul! All female voices, I'm told, (like the peasant woman) were done by British Jackie Newman.
From 1965 to 1967. (This was one from '67.)
@JohnnysGurl4Ever95 i think this is the only cartoon i've seen where it has everything i love: epic adventures, amazing music, and hot british guys :)
john:wow what aa dream i had
ringo:we know we where there huhuhu yeah.
lol i love beatles so mutch
They're not dead, Abigail, they're "only sleeping".
Chin up!
lol i like how they sound absolutley nothing like them until they sing hahah.
@Ihategamershow Yeah, I don't think the guy who voiced John was even trying.
Haha, acording to this cartoon: George played buth the bass riff and the reverse solo? XD
Yer!
I like that version from the Yesterday and Today album.
They hated what they saw based on early episodes, not later ones like this one.
2:00
What happened to George's voice???
Not a particular one, just that general style of character drawing (roughly).
ahaha ringos voice, awesome
I wonder if there’s one for She Said She Said.
'Fraid not, 'fraid not. If you rearrange the letters in Beatles you get Beastle but pronounce the last E like a Y
nic one i agree
Those children John was reading to look and sound like something out of a horror movie. o_o
@alanr4447a Yes and the letter M on Merlin's clothing may have been a precursor to the meanies.
Love it.
xDD~
Is that Lance Percival doing all the voices other than John's ?
Yeah I know but other episodes have the chatacters the other way around
runnin everywhere at such a speed, till they find theres no need.
THERE'S NO NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED
"There you are John"
"Yeah"
What were they on when they made this?
lol
merlin: dobl bubble quater trouble
pop noise
paul: oh ther you are john
that is so lol
george is just classic!
We know!...We were there, heh-heh, yeah!
ha, at the beginning, i was wondering, "Where are George, Ringo, and Paul???"
Dovahkiin , where are you when you're needed?!
Pretty sure the last beatles cartoon episode.
yes... I'M ONLY SLEEPING! Dont wake me :)
Oh, THINKING again, are you?? ;) Where does THAT get you?!? ;D
Really, the American producers didn't want the voices sounding too "foreign".
Yeah but other episodes show it the other way around.
Wait wasn't George supposed to be in the book? Doesn't John appear at 2:34?
????
Ah yes, in fact, "Yellow Submarine" was made by the team that had already created numerous Beatles cartoon episodes! You can see about a dozen others that I've posted by searching TH-cam for "Beatles Cartoon alanr4447a".
George "the fans are getting rougher all the time"
last ep :(
Merlin looks baked
"HELP ! run for your life"
EASTER EGG :3
the beatles cartoons are kind of silly but i just watch for the music
We know, we were there hehe yeah
Oh my God, Ringo, you're such a creeper :P I LOVE YOU SO MUCH THOUGH
