It made a good number of our Snapdragon version here in the PH have really grainy and soft photos. Especially with the 10x zoom and night shots. Some 3x photos where there are people as subjects, too.
MASSIVE improvements on the Exynos version. It was already very good (better than Snapdragon for example with the front facing camera and 10X) but now with one UI 5, the quality has improved further.
Having recently upgraded from the S8 to the S222 Ultra I can only say I am impressed with the phones camera capabilities, particularly the wide angle and the OCR. That said, when I want a top quality picture rather than a snap of a moment then nothing beats an actual real dedicated camera. Today's high end phones offer so many features and good quality pics that I think most people would just forgo the "proper" camera and stick to just the phone. I enjoyed the video BTW. 😁
Thank you for making this video. For me all photos and videos after One UI 5.0 update looks a tad brighter and shadows has more details. That is good. One thing I observed after the update that while shooting in 3x the video looks like floating while shooting. Very impressive stability and quality but makes the phone uncomfortabily warm. Looks like Samsung did a good job utilizing all the camers simultaneously while shooting videos which makes the phone warm. Mine is a Snapdragon one and I didn't try shooting 10x videos. I hope S23 will be addressing this issue.
First of all congratulations for the exceptional work... the best comparison of the segment that I've seen. I noticed 2 main differences: 1st. Improved HDR, returning to the level of the S21 Ultra, which in the S22 Ultra, due to Samsung's unfortunate choice, prioritized a certain contrast. 2nd. Colder colors, getting better in some scenarios, but worse in others... it was similar to the colors I had on the S21 Ultra, which for me are great, but the warm tones sometimes made the S22 look better. I observed these changes in all lenses, especially in wide and ultra wide.
As always excellent videos Jonathan. I have a little query. Regarding videos on my S21 Ultra, before I could zoom to 100x, and now only to 20x. Am I remembering correctly, and can something be done? Mine is an Exynos version btw. Thanks.
Great video, one question bro, you had the same shots for the same objects at the same exact time, but you say you have used one phone only before and after the update 🤔 How come 🙄
Bro I am having issues with the 10x camera . If you use the auto change lens options , Take a shot in 3x , then switch to 10x and you will see a flicker , the image is a bit blurred , like a 3x has been taken and then zoomed in , pixilated a bit . Now if you take off the auto lens change options , and then take that same shot , the image will be much more clearer
The auto lens feature will automatically select which lens to use for any case, especially while zooming. I'd advise to turn it off completely so you can use the true lens everytime you shoot.
Hey Jonathan can I get your opinion on something. Im thinking of getting an S22 Ultra now, hoping to get good discounts. Should I do that or wait for the S23 Ultra. Now I know the 23 will be better, but it might just be an iterative update. Also if I can get an S22U for a good price would that level the playing field between it and a new more expensive model? THanks! Love you channel!
Normally on upgraded phones there's not a huge difference between the last model that came out you could also if you decided to wait and see comparison videos between the S22 and S23 when it comes out that way if you see something on the S23 that you like you can go with it or if you see that's there is not much of a difference go with the S22
@🐲 My Kitten Is A Grand Master 🐉 thanks. Yeah i was hoping to wait and see im sure there will be deep sales on the 22U once the 23 comes out. However im selling my current phone (zFlip 4) and would be without a phone till the 23 came out.
With every update they make the camera and photos look worse. They have to sell more s23 ultras. I never had blurry pictures when i zoomed in. Now photos look horrible and unsharp
Still looks terrible on my studio monitor. Sometimes midtones look very weird and sometimes shadows look unnecessarily bright. They probably apply a filter similar to Lightroom's clarity filter but they increase intensity when their scene recognition algorithms decide to. Noise reduction and sharpening algorithms are not even necessary in daylight but both firmwares apply both filters aggressively even under bright sunlight which destroys detail resolving performance of the device and results in terrible image quality. Noise does not even affect image quality of videos because of different randomness of each frame, but they do not disable these filters even under sunlight. Thanks to all of these problems, I still have to use my own camera app and update it when manufacturers break something with incompatible system updates. I really do not understand what these companies are thinking.
I like the UI 4 better. I think my next phone is going to be the pixel cuz Samsung is just not there yet and they spend too much time on gimmicky things we don't use on the regular basis
i'm still carrying an iphone mini with me just for recording videos and selfies. The s22 Ultra are still inconsistent with shutter speed responses, color balance between lenses, worse low light video and slow autofocus. people overhyped the camera on this phone. but i hope the s23 u can at least make it to top 5 of DXOMARK.
I prefere less hdr effect with over exposure ( don't mind the noise ) than the old one. Iphony images look su*ks and i'm glad samsung revert its image processing before the s23u release.
What do you think of the camera improvements with One UI 5?
It made a good number of our Snapdragon version here in the PH have really grainy and soft photos. Especially with the 10x zoom and night shots. Some 3x photos where there are people as subjects, too.
Portland, JAMAICA in the Building!!!
It feels like my phone looks brand new again...loving it 💙.
@Monu Vashist why? Im still using ui 4 i dont know if im gonna upgrade or not. What do you recommend?
MASSIVE improvements on the Exynos version. It was already very good (better than Snapdragon for example with the front facing camera and 10X) but now with one UI 5, the quality has improved further.
May I ask between exynos and snapdragons which one is sold in Korea and which is international?
@@von_9 Hi. All Asian and American countries got Snapdragon All European countries got Exynos.

I've heard Snapdragon has better processing and it's always better. Why are you saying Exynos is better, bro?

0:27 The cover is beautiful
Iphone 13pro still the best
Not just S22U, i'm finding similar change on my Fold 4 too.

Hi Jonathan, thx for the informative Video. Which case do you use in this Video on your Phone. Looks great.

For me, I prefer the processing of the old one. As you can see yes the HDR are improved but the details are reduced in OneUI 5.0.
For me, camera quality degraded
I to
So you buy s23 ultra
The worst update i have ever seen... #samsung i hate u
Try to shot stars... its a pain...
Mine, also.
Cant believe, took them so long to fix that turquoise-blue sky, which was looking horrible on one ui 4
We hope that GOOD LUCK eould be available in the Philippines
Hello Jonathan, what case are you using for your S22 ultra?
I would like to know that too
And the S23 Ultra is going to be even better
Both look awesome
Great video
But what about thr S21 ultras camera on one ui 5 and one ui 4? Exynos?
Dose it improve the camera quality??
Are these takin with 108Mp or Regular Camera
Do you know if similar changes have been made on the Fold 4?
I mean wheres the update for z fold 4 in US? STILL WAITING.
ONLY thing with this phone is the battery draining issue. Even my Xiaomi redmi 11 pro is better.

In the UK at the moment s22 ultra £665 or wait until next year and buy new version for £1200 umm? Decisions Decisions.
Wait until the 23. It won't be just a little better, it'll be a lot better. TSMC is making the chip and it is going to change it a lot.

I didn’t even think about that but yes you’re correct 😆

Does it work with all samsung phones?
This is part of the One UI 5 update, so presumably you need at least that. It still might only apply to the latest hardware, though.
I prefere less hdr effect with over exposure ( don't mind the noise ) than the old one. Iphony images look su*ks and i'm glad samsung revert its image processing before the s23u release.
S22 ultra 💯👏👏👏👏
Nah, its simply degraded ... IT'S an amazing video you made tho 😊
Honestly I see no improvement at this point. It's just slighty different choices the software made in some photos, that's it.
i have s21+ i don't use camera🤣
i think Still have shutter lag 😒😤🤮
yes

Wonder if it Improved the exynos version,as its always poor compared with Snapdragon
Are you serious? The photos in the One UI 4 are substantially more clear and show a lot more detail and contrast than One UI 5.
