Love this album! And the 12”s! Still have my Frankie Say War pin! Their cover of War was a classic. Super funky. I wanted to learn to play bass so badly back then. 🤣
For Ty: This album was one of many smash hits in the 80s produced by Trevor Horn. Definitely look him up! For Dad: I stumbled across this a few months ago and was blown away! Holly Johnson turned down the gig at the last minute, so I thought it would suck. I WAS WRONG! th-cam.com/video/AbCEF4sYSiY/w-d-xo.html
The whole tribute concert was great.. the band held a talent search to find a singer for this and i think they came up with a pretty darn good replacement ..
They had to change the rules on how uk music charts were calculated due to this song. The released numerous remixes that kept it at number 1 for weeks. After, they only allowed a limited number of versions to count towards the chart position
The producer Trevor Horn was the real genius behind the band - he shaped and changed the sound, giving it an cinematic, dramatic feel. So well produced.
It's wow now. Always has been, always will be. Trevor Horn is a production god, and his arrangements are just mind boggling. He produced Yes 90125, ABC, Art of Noise, and his own band, a duo of himself and Geoff Downes, The Buggles, had the very first video ever shown on MTV: 'Video Killed the Radio Star'. Way, way, WAY ahead of his time.
@@stefanjohansson-cw1ro I didn't bring them up because I don't think that they show off Trevor's most innovative, distinctive, intelligent, Inspired, singular, and best work overall.
Useless trivia Holly Johnson the lead singer of Frankie Goes to Hollywood was in a band/performance group called Big In Japan that had a bunch of people in it like Bill Drummond (KLF) lots of them went on to become record producers and the like.
The bass, drums, orchestral sounds were all the Fairlight C.M.I IIx. J.J. Jeczalik and Trevor Horn did the programing and playing of the Fairlight. This was a typical Top Of The Pops lip-synch/ mimed performance. You should check out J.J. Jeczalik and Trevor Horn's band called The Art Of Noise Beat Box, Close To The Edit, Legs , Peter Gun and Moments In Love are great songs by The Art Of Noise
For all you American cousins, here’s a US link to this song for you. When American football landed on our U.K. TV screens in ‘85, this was our Channel 4 NFL results theme song. Two Tribes go to war…fitting 👍🏼
@@reactionextraction I think that was the first game to be played here in the U.K. 86? Channel 4 coverage started in 82. Not sure what the first game was, but the first game I watched was LA Raiders. Which is why I’m a fan to this day. 😂
FGTH were absolutely massive worldwide . First 3 singles all hit No. 1
and the fourth single got to No. 2!
Band members all swapped roles when miming this. Drummer Ped miming guitar, bassist Mark is on drums and guitarist Nash is on bass.
Should have reviewed the video to this track. Kicks ass, literally.

those t-shirts were so big at the time, classic 😎😎
So glad you reacted to this, everyone reacts to relax and this is their best song in my opinion sooooo good
Another great group from Liverpool.

One of the biggest Anthems of the 80s
True Dat Chilled out 😎😎 Cheers from Dallas
The power of love
Frankie's Record Label Z.T.T. (Zang Tuum Tumb) was a revolution.
The Mastermind behind Frankie goes to Hollywood are Trevor Horn, the Producer 👍
the great Trevor Horn 😎😎

c'est horn et morley qui ont tout fait, eux n'etaient là que pour la figuration...

Don´t forget Seal, Grace Jones and Propaganda.

Fantastic band
Holly Johnson was openly gay quite a thing for the time. They had a huge following and made some memorable records
I actually prefer the Holly Johnson solo stuff better, its just great pop synth, "Love Train" and "atomic city" are Rad 😎😎
Hollis Johnson and Ryuichi Sakamoto Love and hate, thank me later
Ironically relevant in these times. Even more so: "Everybody Wants to Rule The World" by Tears for Fears.
Yes Indeed

Epic song and good reaction guys. Do the other ones.
Indeed yes, Rage Hard is next on our list 😎😎
Aids surviver for the last 30 years , one of my favourites is The Power of Love

No Kidding 😎 That's Fascinating 🏈 Dallas Cowboys vs Chicago Bears, right? First game played over there?

!!! NUMBER 1 in UK, Germany ............
amazing tune and 12" single for sure 😎😎
Sic jam! Holly was on point!
Holly was definitely on point 😎🤘🏼
Extensive use of sequencers made FGTH's music stand out as "ground-breaking" at the time.
Second album Liverpool by them was better than the first in my opinion.
agreed, "Rage Hard" and the great awesome "Maximum Joy" 😎🤘🏼
both albums are brilliant !
Yes, was more successful...9 weeks at UK no 1......Also, not hard, but so prophetic, given war in Ukraine and energy crisis.
