Personally I think this is one of the most beautiful songs of all time. One of the few songs that can make me cry every time I hear it. The sentiment and delivery is so gorgeous 😭
Holly Johnson, who co-wrote the song, later reminisced: "I always felt like 'The Power of Love' was the record that would save me in this life. There is a biblical aspect to its spirituality and passion; the fact that love is the only thing that matters in the end."
One of the best ballads from the 80s, along with Who Wants to Live Forever, Careless Whisper, Against All Odds, True Colors, Total Eclipse of the Heart, Eternal Flame, Drive...
Absolutely love this. I'm a Gen-X'er who heard this when it was released and even exchanged emails with Holly Johnson for some time. This deeply personal song of his is a gem. Thank you for appreciating it, Dereck!
The power of the 80's..! 💖. Amazing era. Diversity tons of talented artists/legends. Experimentaion and REAL innovations. Pop culture at its best. Now it's like everything has been invented..😥
'sThanks a lot. Absolute insane song. One of the most emblematic and iconic tracks from the 80's. The melody is so bewitching and the atmosphere and vocals are greatly awesome. I find this song mystic.
Should try Frankie's Two Tribes . Their sound is partly down to Trevor Horn who produced both of Frankie Goes to Hollywood's albums Welcome To The Pleasure Dome and Liverpool and was the founder of ZTT Records . he also produced other great bands and singers such as Propaganda , Simple Minds , ABC , Pet Shop Boys , Seal .
Hello Dereck, you can hear this song by Frankie Goes To Hollywood on the radio around Christmas time! His voice and the music are also full of power.Thank you Dereck for your reaction!I missed you💝💝😄
3 Hits in a Short time which left their mark in music history. From Relax to Power Of Love… not exactly to be expected in style and content. Great stuff
Never put Frankie in a pigeon hole. The band make all sorts of genres of music. I love this one. So beautiful. Listen to the album Welcome to the Pleasure Done, you'll find it all in there. More high energy stuff, some philosophical stuff (War! What is it good for? Absolutely nothing, say it again.) And a cover of Bruce Springsteen's Baby We Were Born to Run which, in my opinion is much better than Springsteen's original. They were a great band. Love them. EDIT Bit of trivia for you, there were THREE songs with the same name, The Power of Love, in the charts at the same time! Frankie, Jennifer somebody and the one from the film Back to the Future. Three different songs but all sharing the same name.
You can thank Trevor Horn backing vocals, bass guitar. J. J. Jeczalik keyboards, programming, software. Anne Dudley keyboards, string arrangement on "The Power of Love". For this amazing song All three are in The Art Of Noise and have worked on albums by ABC, Yes, and many other bands and artists. You should react to The Art Of Noise
Having done Relax and The Power of Love, there is now only one song left from the Frankie hit triumverate: their anti-war song Two Tribes, which is more like Relax and very catchy
My favourite of their songs! Funnily enough the first time I heard this was a remix of it from a compilation CD from 2000 of club hits...was quite surprised to hear the original and it's slowed tempo!
This was released not long before Xmas, so the record company came up with this video, aiming for the Xmas number 1, usually the biggest selling single of the year. I worked! This was their third huge number 1, out of 3 singles released! If you haven't done' Two Tribes', their second single, you should give it a listen. The big thing with Frankie is that they were openly, in your face, gay. It may not seem like a big thing nowadays but it was a HUGE thing back then. It wasn't thought possible for people to be so openly gay and still be massively successful in the mainstream. Frankie, Culture Club and Bronski Beat, helped change that perception. :)
Oh Dereck, i missed you and your reactions! Glad you're back! This song brings back memories of my brothers when i was 14 years old. It was a slow which surely brought together a lot of people. Bisous
My first concert ever was FGTH at Paris Bercy in 1985 at the age of 14 yo. And then, I started singing in the living room, speakers loud, doing some impersonations of Holly Johnson over "Welcome to the Pleasure Dome double vynil and enjoyed it so much that I decided to become a rock star. Surprinsingly, my parents didn't totally see the things the same way I did. Nice to see you back , Derek.
you may their song RELAX it's an 80's song, they're an english band & the singers' name is Holly Johnson, He has one of the greatest voices of the ages!
There is a video made by SomeRandomGuy that shows 80s songs with the same title but they are different: There are 3 songs of the 80s that are called "The Power of Love": The Version featured in this video from Frankie goes to Hollywood The Version from Jennifer Rush The Version from Huey Lewis and the News (Back to the Future)
Had no idea there was a video! But, I don’t think it was a single in the US. I had the album from the beginning, so I knew it well. So many great songs on it!
A big hit at Christmas didn't stand a chance against the biggest selling record of all time. FGTH were a diverse band Relax was a way to get noticed and ZTT the promotor did a great job. In fighting led to the demise of the band but l can still see the dance floor at Heaven bouncing along to them.
Power of Love by Celine Dion (a cover) is by Jennifer Rush (the origin). I love the version by Air Supply and by Laura Branigan and of course by Celine Dion
Hey great to see you again, you have to react to Felix Irwan singing « when we were young » cover. Woaaaw what a performance, from far the best I ever seen. Your will just be speechless 🤭 keep doing great react video 🙏
Personally I think this is one of the most beautiful songs of all time. One of the few songs that can make me cry every time I hear it. The sentiment and delivery is so gorgeous 😭
yes i got a tear pressing on right now..
Same, great song from a great album, great memory from my teens.
I love Holly Johnson's voice on this track. The moment towards the end where he sings "a sky-scraping dove" is particularly wonderful.
Holly Johnson, who co-wrote the song, later reminisced: "I always felt like 'The Power of Love' was the record that would save me in this life. There is a biblical aspect to its spirituality and passion; the fact that love is the only thing that matters in the end."
One of the best songs of the 80s, by far!
One of the best ballads from the 80s, along with Who Wants to Live Forever, Careless Whisper, Against All Odds, True Colors, Total Eclipse of the Heart, Eternal Flame, Drive...
First 3 singles and 3 number one hits. Not many bands can claim such a successful start to their career. This was a huge Xmas hit when released.
Absolutely love this. I'm a Gen-X'er who heard this when it was released and even exchanged emails with Holly Johnson for some time. This deeply personal song of his is a gem. Thank you for appreciating it, Dereck!
The power of the 80's..! 💖.

Wecome Dereck !
The Power of Love is my FGTH's favorite song. I saw them in concert. It was crazy and amazing !

Great song.
The lead singer (Holly Johnson) sang a great solo song called “Love Train”. ✌️

magnifique tout simplement..voix envoutante..et musique au top..

What about Welcome to the Pleasuredome and Rage Hard?
@@debbee0867 Rage hard was number one here....
Another one masterpiece from the best music era Dereck👍

Should react still Frankie, to "welcome to the pleasure dome", a cathedral of sounds 🎸🎹🎤
Stunningly beautiful and emotional. A real pleasure to listen to every single time. Thankyou.
This song is a beautiful masterpiece, and yes it makes me blub ever time

Nice to see you back , Derek.
I LOVE this song SOOOO much!!!! ❤❤❤
I recommend "Rage Hard" by Frankie goes to Hollywood, it is often overlooked cause of Relax and The Power of Love
Agree, Rage Hard is my favourite, one of the first singles I bought in the 80's.
You said, could it be Celine Dion's Power of love. But it was actually Jennifer Rush who wrote that song and Celine did the cover.
Definitely the best 80s Christmas song, together with 'Do They Know It's Christmas', go home, Wham! Lol :P
you may their song RELAX
it's an 80's song, they're an english band & the singers' name is Holly Johnson,
He has one of the greatest voices of the ages!
this is one of FGTH 80s masterpiece goes well with Holly Johnson's solo gems Love Train and Heaven's Here
The full extended version is the way to go! You get to hear more of that glorious guitar throughout.
One of the most beautiful song of love (with REM everybody hurts).
One of my favs back in the day! Check out their other hits.
Gorgeous song this was. One of the best ballads of the 1980s
FGTH's "Sweetheart" is a banger, also on the radio about then. They're obviously very versatile musicians.
Hello guy ! you say this song is too slow... but it is a slow and one of the most beautifull ever ! Thanks for sharing.
Yes this was the Christmas Number One in 1984 .
Nope was Band Aid
If Band Aid Wasnt released, this would have been Christmas Number One

The Version from Jennifer Rush

You absolutely need to react to Two Tribes xx
And hopefully to the uncensored video
Hell yes
The version by Celion Dion (Power of Love) is actually a cover. The original is by Jennifer Rush released in 1984.

This is popular at Christmas time in the UK 🇬🇧
Love this song. Two Tribes is another classic you should consider reacting to.
Released in the UK at Christmas 👍🏻
Is the greatest song of all time
That's good. 80's/90's rules.
Get two tribes on, it'll blow your bananas out the park
They made an Xmas song out of it but it is about LOVE..between relatives or lovers...I think..
Frank Dellé's cover of this song is really worth a listen.
Amazing song.
If you like Frankie Goes to Hollywood, try "Born to Run" that is a rock song.
My signature karaoke song love it
Frankie is a band and at 5:32 no synths but a guitar
Not to be confused with Power of Love by the Canadian-South Asian band The Bilz and Kashif based in Montreal
A big hit at Christmas didn't stand a chance against the biggest selling record of all time. FGTH were a diverse band Relax was a way to get noticed and ZTT the promotor did a great job. In fighting led to the demise of the band but l can still see the dance floor at Heaven bouncing along to them.

There is also Jennifer Rush's The Power of Love
Nice banana hammock.
très belle chanson 💜 Merci Dereck
Love Frankie in this one. If you want a real surprise, check out their cover of Springsteen's "Born to Run" it is better than the original.
A pensive sort of song. I do like it a lot, actually.
Yes I miss you Derek
