  • Many viewers of last night's PBS Newshour Democratic Debate might be confused by the strange focus on former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. Kissinger served under President's Nixon and Ford at the closing of the Vietnam War, and many people consider him to be a war criminal. John Iadarola, host of ThinkTank, delivers his Final Judgment on Henry Kissinger.

Yeah but that would open up many American political figures to war crime trials. The bush administration (cause torture and gitmo is 100 against signed and ratified UN bill of human rights. CIA for funding pretty much every enemy of the US (The Taliban, Sadam, ISIS, who every your next enemy is). US soldiers for murderint civilians, journalists, gang raping women and threatening their husbands.

No one learned more from Hermann Göring than Henry Kissinger:
_Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY._

I am currently working in Laos and the insane number of UXO (unexploded ordinance) remains a threat for the rural Lao, Hmong and Khmu populations. If you are talking about the E Pluribus Unum quote, that is still a stretch to say it is a global conspiracy. Although I will grant that multinational corporations and banks are creating/have created an international crony capitalist system that is stacked against the common people the world over and even is beginning to override national sovereignty all for the benefit of a few. You don't need a formal conspiracy when like interests converge. There is no dark room with a council of villains plotting to create a new world order but there are powerful interests that are slowly taking over the world for their own financial benefit.

I don't like Kissinger, but look up the context of the quotes and who reported them. The "intelligence"-quote is an answer to the the question "How do you explain the fact that you have become almost more famous and popular than a president?". The "Military men are stupid"-quote seems to be from one book, whose authors disliked Kissinger and got the quote from Kissinger's political opponent, who was told by "someone" that Kissinger said this.

I literally gasped when I heard her say that. Bernie Sanders just absolutely has to win or I will be forced to vote for Clinton, who in all her endeavors, has never made me as mad as she did when this came out of her mouth. I was looking at the faces in the audience when the cameras scanned to see if any of them were as mortified as me, and I did see some shocked looks. Bernie's reply was exactly what I wanted to hear minus the "dastardly bastard" I would have added. Clinton is around my age and is a career politician, so no excuses, she has to know what Kissinger was all about, and still she assumed that we (American people) are so stupid we would just hear a famous political name and have a patriotic orgasm. Newsflash: I ain't no "Murica" screamin motherfucker who falls for name dropping bedazzlement capabilities. It would be best "Hil" if you just assume from now on that the people you need to hear you girl are just as smart as you are. You represent the wrong party for that bullshit.

Kissinger won the Nobel Peace prize, got america out of Vietnam with Treaty of Paris, helped end cold war by establishing Detente with USSR & START talks to reduce number of nuclear missiles, he started friendly US relations with communist China, he helped bring Middle East peace between Israel and Egypt, and helped end many conflicts like Cyprus, Bangladesh etc. In short he was an outstanding diplomat of exceptional ability. He introducted the term shuttle diplomacy, Those who criticize him tend to be absolute Zeros with no achievements whatsoever to their life.
