God bless the New Mystery writers. They actually had to write supports for all these scrubs who didn't even have any dialogue or characterization previously.
@@rosheajakob I thought this would be Ryan in my FE12 hard mode run, but then he capped strength, got a ton of defense, and went to town. Even went as far as to be my best answer to Hardin.
@KorotasGeckoGamingCorner honestly gordin and Ryan in fe12 might be exceptions to this rule. they can get really good and archers are actually OK in fe12 bc jts so player-phase heavy
Yeah, I used Lorenz my first 3H playthrough. His growths were mid but his actual performance was solid. His whole "naive sheltered noble with a strong moral core" was something I liked as well. He has everything, and he'd give it up for his people in a heartbeat out of a sense of duty.
I had the same experience, but for Sylvain bc that was my first route. love him. Lorenz is super cool too, used him as a mortal savant because it's hilarious
On my last run of Awakening, I had so much fun using Miriel... Using any mage feels pointless when Robin exists, but seeing her carry mid and end-game harder than Robin as a dark knight was extremely satisfying, and using her also made me appreciate how dang funny her character is. This woman studies everything, yet she acts like she knows nothing. She's going to discover gravity. It's great. I am also god's most ardent Wolt defender. I love him. Wolt got me on the kick of loving all FE archers. Wolt made me train Rolf in PoR and it was a blast. Green archer dudes... that archetype should make a comeback. Hashtag give archers green hair again.
green archers are the scrubbiest always. Miriel is someone I've always wanted to use but then I get her killed and since I have ironman brainrot i never fully experience her, but God she looks so fun
Maybe this is just me still being an Awakening noob, and mind you I have never seen what the Awakening community thinks on anything regarding the game, but I have always loved using mages throughout the series, and having Robin isn't gonna change that for me. I say if one magic-user is good, why not four (Robin, Miriel, Henry, Morgan)? Well, five I guess because I turned Sumia into a Dark Flier, but I didn't grab Tomefaire so Lances are still her main thing.
I remember reclassing miriel to a dark mage on my first go because the game said they had high defense and I kept getting her 2 shotted due to my mistakes
Unironically Mekkah and Raisin just fell to the Roche effect of Marissa during their latest playthorugh of FE8 Lunatic (Hardmode FE8 where enemies have all of their non DEF&RES growths multiplied by 1.6 and they play through both routes with their army split evenly)
Still can't believe they gave Roshea actual Speed and a tie for the highest Def growth in the game in FE3 Book 1 only to take it away again in Shadow Dragon I want my boy back ...oh yeah, Castor was a standout in that Book 1 run as well. Bowhorse funny.
free my mans fe3 roshea Castor is another alltime scrub for me. I used him alongside horseman draug and barst and he outperformed them and i caught the Castor sickness
I love my early game trash archers. Every game from Rebecca to Etie (my favorite right now), I WILL turn them into a sniper and throw all my killer bows and stat items at them. Nothing is more satisfying than stomping the final boss with this throwaway archer that hasn't had one line of dialogue in 20 chapters. Also shout out to Amelia, who can somehow become the fastest general you've ever seen, and all it takes is fielding a useless baby unit for most of the game.
I know so many archer lovers. fellow creator Tatsunami especially loves Rebecca and its so easy to see. they just are the most rejected by fe balance and it feels so good to have them kill things
Mia and Nephenee are the two main ones that come to mind... but Nephenee I feel like I hear too many good things about to count, and Mia is also popular. So my last choice is someone I've never heard anyone even mention. I love my boy JANAFF. Love that bird.
I'd say just from viability neph and Mia are scrub material tbh. but yeah they're pretty popular but I LOVE janaff too!! he's my fav tellius scrub and idk why tbh but he's just so skrunkly!!! I did a por ironman and I put him on like all the thumbnails
@rosheajakob how is nephenee not super popular? She's one of the most popular tellius characters Edit: nevermind. This is tellius we're talking. Less people havplayed it.
So many of the tellius characters are carried by their designs alone, like I want nephenee especially to work because she look so cool. I do think POR is an easy enough game they you don't really suffer for using them
I think the fact I decided to solo FE7 with Wil (kinda sorta) should get across my feelings about the Roshea effect. With him, it was the fact that a) i somehow manage to flock to long-ranged options in every game I play, so of course I'd vibe with an FE archer, and b) I actually really like how he's characterized in supports? Idk, the way I see him is that he personally struggles with feeling like he's not actually useful to those around him, so taking a character like that and training him to be the star of my army makes me feel happy. That's about all I have to say. Nice video!
I also soloed fe3 with roshea so it seems we're on the same level of scrub sickness. Wil is someone I always want to use and then I get him killed and since I have ironman brainrot don't use him. his supports are great though!! lowkey one kf the best written characters in fe7 if not fe as a whole. thanks so much for the support!
I'm playing a fe7 Ironman right now and wil is honestly my MVP, I was like "i might as well give him and Rebecca a try" but Rebecca fell off and wil got lucky on stats and solos things that even the Christmas cavs cant
I liked using Wil as well. Never really got too into the games though. Forgot who else I used... the shaman, Canas? Oh. Matthew. I think for Fire Emblem, it was really about actually using those characters in battle and making sure they survived so they'd gain exp, then getting good stat rolls. After that it was making sure the match-ups were favorable, with bringing the right units and weapon types for the map along with unit placements needing to be appropriate (eg. not having archers on the front line against melee enemies)
Answering the opening question: my first game was Birthright, and I was fascinated by the character of Rinkah. A personal skill that gave 4 extra damage seemed really good, and I used my first heart seal to make her a ninja(I barely understood the mechanics but noticed that ninjas attacked twice more often, so thought it would benefit from her personal skill). I promoted her to a mechanist because I liked the concept. What mainly drew me was her character. I was interested to learn that there was an ice tribe aligned with Nohr and a neutral Wind tribe, so I expected the Fire tribe to come into the story at one point. I came up with a lot of possibilities. Was the fire tribe making an alliance with Hoshido out of convenience to keep their ice tribe traditional enemies in check? Were they more of a vassal, like the ice tribe was later shown to be? Anyway I was really excited to find out what their deal was, but you know what happened. Later when I found out she was one of the worst characters in the game I was kind of like “yeah that tracks” given my earlier disappointment.
Hey, glad to see some Rinkah appreciation! Birthright was my first game as well. Wouldn’t say I was fascinated with Rinkah at first, but I did slowly warm up to her (hah). Corrin aside, she was easily the bulkiest unit in my army in defense. So long as there wasn’t any magic, I could pretty reliably wall or throw her into enemy groups at base. It also helped that Birthright doesn’t have many units that start with clubs straight out of the gate, so she got practically exclusive access to stuff like the hammer and bolt axe. And without reclassing (which my stinky brain had no idea how to do first playthrough), she’s the only Oni Savage. So the further I got into the game, the more reason I had to use her. If we’re talking a true Roshea though? That’s FE8 Neimi for me lmao
This video kind of touches upon an essential ingredient of what makes FE special to me-its gameplay naturally weaves personalized stories for each player as they play through the game. Obviously this is something almost every game can do, but the FE format enables this in a more thorough form than the sports-showdown-esque narratives that you might get from less story-tuned experiences. In FE, characters with very little dialogue still have the potential to have memorable moments because of the gameplay's friendliness for emergent narrative, and I think the fact that every playable unit has a name and an identity, along with the permadeath mechanic, are some of the key ingredients to this effect. I'm also inclined to think that this is a little more effective when the game's writing is willing to commit itself more on the sandboxy side, in part because I think that good Fire Emblem, at its core, should be able to make any character feel like the main character of the story (which is harder to do when there's a more distinct divide between the best and worst written characters imo). In cases like Archanea where most characters are written very lightly and very few are directly connected to the plot, the game's story as a whole feels like less of a fixed story and more of a set of tools that the game is handing to you so you can write your own story. The character in question for me is Vyland, by the way.
My favorite thing to do is take units that are considered "trash" and make them into absolute powerhouses. My archers were oneshotting EVERYONE, dammit!
My personal super Scrub is Kane from Fire Emblem Thracia 776. Basically, in chapter 9 (or so), you have to help a girl named Selphina and her three named knights that are so generic and weak they probably only exist to be sacrificed to gain some turns since the bad guys are closer to them than you are. But because his name is Kane and it made me think of Citizen Kane, I decided he was in party 100% of the time. He died on the last chapter to protect Nanna, and this is the most heroic sacrifice that I witnessed in my Fire Emblem runs. So yeah, I really love Kane.
Everyone when Engage came out just started DUNKING on Boucheron like immediately, which is why he had an auto spot on my Maddening run team. Man puts in the work. Also shoutouts to Kellam and my personal Favorite, Dark Mage Roger in FE12. good times had by all.
Boucheron was also someone I IMMEDIATELY fielded because I smelled nonsense with him. Kellam too honestly, I kinda like his gimmick as dumb as it js. Dark mage Roger is also something I've thought about but have yet to put into practice... maybe soon I'll try it. great picks all around
FE7 was the second game I played and I remember getting Rebecca to be extremely good, i was so baffled when I looked at tier lists and saw her at the bottom because she just messed up all the enemies in her path. I know her flaws today, but I will never stop putting in the effort to make her an absolute powerhouse.
I dont know if he is considered a scrub, but i am playing Sacred stones right now and Colm is awesome!! Cool design, cool supports, interesting personality, i made him a assassin and while everyone on my team is good, i never had to worry about Colm, he destroys everyone who comes near him. Honorable mentions to: Gilliam, Ford, Ewan, Knoll and Syrene who are also on my team
My favorite scrub/joke character is definitely Shannam from fe5. He stuck out to me every time he showed up in the story and I was surprised he was recuitable when i took the B route on accident. Ended up spending so much time and resources training this goofy swordmaster into an absolute god by the end of the game and had him go on a rampage in the final chapters. Absolutely a unit unlike any other and for that Shannam is one of my favorite units in the series
I love using at least one subpar unit when playing through a game these days, they add replay value cause most folks aren't going to use like, Tormod in FE9 in their first run but investing in him gives me new supports I've never seen even on my 8th playthrough.
sometimes I'll just boot up a game I've played and be like "alright, not gonna use anyone I've already used before." and it's so fun. never would've used like muarim for example, but he was so fun when I actually used him.
Shadow Dragon was my second FE game, but that's where my personal *Roshea Effect* ™ picks are from, Caesar and Radd! They both have next to no dialogue at all in that game, and only really get characterized in New Mystery. They also appear long after two arguably superior fan favorites using their classes, Ogma and Navarre. They're underleveled, and struggle to deal with the enemies on their own join chapter, but despite it all, I found myself drawn to them just based on their designs alone. Caesar looks like an absolute badass and Radd is totally adorable, so naturally I trained them both in the arena they spawn right next to until they surprisingly surpassed both Ogma and Navarre, being completely RNG blessed. This was on the DS of course, and I didn't know about arena abusing or anything like that. They just so happened to get really blessed for no reason, which only furthered my incentive to use the pair, especially since the next chapter was another golden opportunity to use them, thanks to the axe wielding pirates and a boss that's weak to the Wyrmslayer found in the same map. They ended up being my MVPs next to Sedgar and Wolf for the rest of the game. When I finally played New Mystery though, I fell in love with those two all over again thanks to the extra depth they got from the gaiden chapter focusing on them, as well as elaborating on Caesar's personal motivations and Radd's loyalty to him. Further support conversations with both of them as well as Kris continue to make them even more fleshed out, and made me care about them even more. Honestly, his conversation with Kris makes Caesar one of the more realistic depictions of a mercenary in all of Fire Emblem. He's not some romantic war hero who fights in huge battles every day, or takes jobs for free. He needs money for his ailing sister's treatment and takes up mundane jobs outside of wartime, such as escorting ships to foreign ports. He's also extremely well-read in multiple languages and has a really cute big brother relationship with Radd where he tries to teach him to read and to survive on the battlefield and it's just the most precious thing ever! Needless to say, all of my Starshards went to those two at any chance I got in my playthrough. They are my little scrimblo bimblo blorbos and I will not rest until they're added into FEH for the injustice of Intelligent Systems leaving them both out of Cipher so we don't get updated full-body art of them. I've been voting on Caesar exclusively since the first CYL and I won't relent until he's in the game! Plus if he gets added, Radd has a good shot of being added too, since they're a package deal.
no cipher art :(( Caesar recently became a top tier scrub for me, I did a harebrained Hunter - General build in fe11 that paid off so well. radd also js just. sk silly. I love the units in fe11 that are obviously replacements incase someone earlier died
@@rosheajakob The reclassing system in FE11 really did wonders for units who were originally filler replacements honestly. I've seen a lot of people prefer to use Caesar as a Dark Mage for that reason, assuming they don't already use Cord for that purpose. Radd struggles to find a niche no matter what you put him in, but he's still decent enough to be fun to use.
I love Roshea too, used him in my first SD run because I just liked him. I really think its the potrait! I attempted to abuse the Dynamic Growths with the Myrmidion class to boost this horrendus growth rate of him. Overall I think he is simple a more defensive cavalier. In my first ever run I used Wil in FE7. Only reason I have yet to reuse him is that Rebecca exists and I love her xD Andof course there is Arden. My fav Character of this franchise. That one FEH video with his 99 HP Build was so good... and even in FE4 a KNIGHT on the map with the highest tilecount ever feels hilarious. I think the magic of these characters is that they give you even more content to a game you enjoyed playing. As long as a character exists, they WILL have fans just like every single Pokémon has their fans. Its your experience with them on the battlefield, their story, their design... Whatever it is, it is also your descision. Both to field them and to invest in them. I am looking forward to use Bunnet of all people in my future Engage run because I like the return of a prepromoted horsemen I guess? You can like characters for whatever reason. I adore generic Shrine Maidens design from Fates. You can use generic Units in Fates. How cool is that?
I love rosheas portrait! he's so skrunkly. and yeah, you can boost hs bad growths with reclass shenanigans but he will always be all def. I recommend playing him in fe3 tho bc they buffed his growths and he's crazy in it Wil is one of my fav archers. he's just like the most average looking guy in fe7 and I think that's hilarious. arden. my beloved. man fe has so many cool characters to just use because they're mid
In my first playthrough of Sacred Stones (my first FE), I lovingly dragged Neimi and Colm all the way to the Demon King. Were they terrible combat units? In retrospect, yes, but the uniqueness of bows charmed me and Colm's near-immediate support conversations with Neimi meant that I paired them up constantly.
My Neimi when I played was actually an awesome combat unit. I always wish Colm could be one because the look and animations he gets are so freaking cool so I try to use him and level him up as much as I could even if he’s not going to be my top performer
my first neimi was terrible bc she got screwed in every relevant Stat but my colm was super blessed. I love his animations so much and I've used him every playthrough ever and neimi quite a but as well
It's me. I am Stahl's strongest soldier. I married him in my first Awakening run and came up with this whole headcanon (which turned out to be totally incompatible with the real plot) where Robin actually *was* a Plegian spy and Stahl knew but never ratted her out, confident she'd do the right thing in the end. She did. I stopped using all the parent characters by the end of that run, but their Morgan was hell on a horse, and obviously Stahl taught him everything he knew.
Roshea’s adorable so no judgment lmao. Also you deserve some kind of reward for coining “the Roshea Effect”, it legitimately sounds so scientific 😂. Awakening was my first, and thinking back I guess Stahl and Maribelle were my Rosheas? They weren’t “scrubs” per se but I definitely kept them longer than I needed to (then again I put way too much time into leveling up the entire Awakening cast 😅). Definitely found my Roshea when I got to Three Houses tho, it’s impossible for me to not recruit Ashe in every playthrough 💀…
My first awakening scrub was Stahl and my first 3h was Ashe!! I love them so much they're so great. I'm glad you liked the video :D the roshea effect is something I've felt forever and I'm glad it's resonating with people
Virion may be a scrub to some, but to me, he's a well-written man with dashing hair and a tendency to crit with the longbow I randomly picked up off the floor so I always field him.
My favorite scrimblo is Hugh from Binding Blade. When I first played, he stood out so much for being an older mage compared to the child mages you got earlier. His colors and expression made him stand out too, I just love the guy.
I remember FE 7 was my second FE game I've played and the friend that gave me the cartridge was super excited for me to see Matthew because he thought we looked a lot like me. While I didnt really agree with my friend about it, I did took some kind of interest toward the character anyway, curious to train him and see how strong he could become if I gave him all the stats boosts. This was probably the hardest run but also the coolest I ever did in FE7. The way Matthew became stronger to avenge Leila death was a thing that made me regret absolutly nothing about investing in him. Matthew is my special "scub", and every FE7 run I play today, I use him til the end.
training thieves is a highly underrated practice, and Matthew is a prime example. they're just fun. Matthew was one of the first characyers I really just loved at first sight
What are you talking about? In engage, all early non mages are weaklings. Also, Bunnet and Zaphir exist. In 3H unless a unit combos enough battalion abilities or isn't woman they'll be relegated to the same cookie cutter Combat Art bot duty. CQ gets Nyx, Authur, Peri, the mercs and Beruka. And you can even get more scrubs by fucking up children's genetics!
My last scrub unit has to be Ashe. I dunno, I find him so cute I have to bring him everywhere despite him getting OS by absolutly everything and only dealing scrap damage. But hey give him a meta wyvern and reforged axes and bows and my boy does his job (but still dies in one hit)
I was casually cruising through Sacred Stones for the first time and ended up picking Amelia up along the way. Then, for some inexplicable reason, she found her way onto my team and ended up becoming part of the Paladin Death Trio with Seth and Franz, while also supporting the latter one. I now know she's not good, but I can't help but slot her in every time I replay SS. She's cute, and I really like to pair her with Franz still. As a side note, that same first run also made me fall in love with the Swordmaster line after seeing Joshua crit for the first time, and I've been huffing that copium ever since I don't care how bad they are, every team of mine will have at least one Swordmaster present
Amelia is one of the best examples of zero-to-hero style roshea effect there is. even among trainees she sucks lmao, but she still is so cool and fun. Joshua is a staple of my ss runs also because i just love the sword master and assassin anims. and Joshua has a cool hat :)
I’ve never really looked at Awakening tier lists so I don’t know if this is a hot take but I love Panne. She has a cool design and shapeshifters are awesome. I use her in every run of Awakening I do, her 1-range locked ass is staying in my roster.
I like the taguels! idk awakening tierlists that well either tbh but I think she's like upper-mid tier but only cuz of early game. I think she's really cool and a solid unit. Yarne is one of my fav awakening characyers also 💜
Oh speaking of scrubs. I was playing Thracia 776 and I've decided to put everything I have on the man that is Carrion. Idk, I just looked at his picture profile for a while and decided that the man deserves to shine! I also invested in Brighton simply because I liked Cavs and especially cavs who use axes.
I love thracia cavs. Brighton and Finn are my favorites but Carrion and Kane and Alva are so fun too, and also there's like Hicks and Fergus and Fred and ahhhh there's so many
My first FE game was Echoes. I remember I made Kliff a mercenary (actually optimal) he quickly became my favorite unit in echoes. If I have to choose a Roshea effect unit tho, literally everyone in FE6, even Ogier. Also great video! It was really interesting to hear someone talk about bad unit feel! ❤
kliff is so fun in echoes. he just can do so many different things while also being a snarkly lil dude from the sticks. fe6 is full of roshea effect, and ogier is a prime example. I've been using him recently and it just feels so good when his training pays off
Looking back my first scrub was definitely Ricken for his big doofy hat, i just absolutely love his hat A more recent one is Flayn as since she has absolutely terrible everything but good resistance i decided to make her a general and she actually became invincible, too bad Valkyrie came out and was actually a good class for her
ricken with the most Gandalf-ass fit while being a small child is still so funny to me. Flayn has many shenanigans for her builds which are fun. I did like a Levin sword dancer with sword avoid once and jt was hilarious.
I was gonna start listing names, but then i realized I would just be listing most of the "trash" characters from FE6, so if you can't remember the last time you used them in Binding Blade, they're probably on my list. My latest iron man of it took Lot, Ogier, Noah, Fir, Wolt and Cecelia into endgame, cuz most of my other faves died along the journey there.
For me this is mainly Ricken, Ignatz, and Clanne. Could they be replaced with better units? Yeah. Am I going to? No. I will use my boys in every map and you cannot stop me. Not even getting RNG screwed will stop me!
From my first playthrough, Kyle was my favorite unit and he still holds a soft spot in my heart. He shares that spot with Dart and Erk and of course, Oujay. Ogier? Doesn't matter. Thanks for the vid, it was a good one.
thank you!! I just finished using ogier for the first time and be was so fun to beat up axe reinforcements with and then have him oneround wyvern with and iron axe. as a cav, Kyle always finds spots on my team too. Erk is also just so easy to give exp to. haven't tried Dart out yet but I'd find it hard to be disappointed with a bers. shame they're all so outclassed in their games
While I feel like there's more to talk about in regards to the topic of these funny little dudes this was still a very neat video Scrubs in FE are such a breath of fresh air to just mess around with after experiencing a good unit performing well on the like 5th playthrough of a game I don't know enough about Fates so I'm not sure if he counts but Arthur is probably one of my favorite scrub characters to use The man being a constant source of dopamine just for not getting crit is great fun
Setsuna my beloved. I've built her in Adventurer in Birthright and her stats are simply sublime. At 20/20 in her class route, she would be having 17 Str ON AVERAGE. And then add on a Str screw and a Revolting meal and she got as low as 13 Str lol. She's definitely a project! Worth mentioning Arthur and Beruka in Conquest who I don't think are scrub-like in the slightest but the general community don't really hold them in high regard. I'll always try to represent them, show everyone what they're missing out on hehe.
setsuna is so funny. very fun to train though. love her. Arthur and beruka get a bad rap, probably just bc people prefer Charlotte and Camilla. but they're good in their own right
the tellius games are perfect for exactly this and I will forever love the feeling of taking the forgotten and low tier and turning them into endgame heroes. ilyana will always be gaming, but also even more forgotten units like calil or astrid. nephenee is a foot locked lance locked unit in games that love axes, and comes with horrible bases and an E rank in her only weapon type, and she's not bulky enough nor strong enough at base to make good use of her inherit wrath, but even still she's my favorite I love her so much and no playthrough of either tellius game would be complete to me without the country bumpkin with no combat training being a star of the show. or hell, heather is probably the single worst unit in radiant dawn and yet every playthrough I train her up because I just like her. you will have to pry heather from my cold dead stone hands
tellius is PRIME scrub training. bexp is my bestie. i used neph in por for the first time recently and she was soo fun and she became one of my top bruisers (alongside brom ofc). I also used Astrid and oooooh I love midgame paragon cavalier. ilyana are also very capable and very fun to use. they just hit hard. with magic.
My first fe game was 3 houses (church route because I managed to accidentally avoid the enbar cutscene) and myy scrub unit was probably Caspar. I didn't like him much and he really wasn't pulling his weight, but I still brought him to almost every map. Eventually I gave up on that run because I got stuck on the map that gets nuked ofter the chapter. Some more things I remember about that run is not realizing that I can change skill so most of my units had like a lvl 3 prowess, 2 lvl 1, hp+5 and something else. I put a lot of experience in Edelgard(without knowing the twist) and Byleth, but he was not strong enough to solo and all my other units kinda sucked.
ahh a myrm enjoyer i see. Edward is one of my favs in rd, just so much fun to dump experience into and Watch him go crazy. Fir is so cool too, just train her up on axes with low hit and she snowballs so hard
My Roshea brain activated when I played Mystery of the Emblem. I don't remember _why_ I latched onto him (because of my amnesia probably lmao) but I know I love slightly higher defense growths on my cavaliers now. My second favorite character is Fergus (FE5). I think that's self-explanatory.
My scrimblos are the armors. Any armor, any game. Oswin was one of my faves when I first played 7 back in 2003 and yeah he was a good unit to boot, but that carried over to every other game since. My next FE was my first foray into emulation with FE3, and you bet your butt I fell in love with Doga. Arden? MVP. Xavier? Recruited every time time. FE6 armor triangle attack? You know its happening. Sometimes they're good, of course, especially in more recent games, but good times and bad, richer and poorer, health and sickness, I'm there for the big lads and their stupid low movement. Bless them all.
One thing i really like about shadow dragon is the amount of units they give who are absolute nobodies and solely exists to replenish your army if you sufferd losses or to be cannon fodder. I think my first Roshea was Radd on my first shadow dragon playthrough who i just send into the arena to die so i could get more gold if i won but he somehow ended up winning by dodging multiple attacks so i decided that he was worth raising, he sadly died a few chapters later due ambush spawn cavaliers when his luck ran out. Another unit is funnily someone in the same chapter and that was Roger. I thought his recruitment was hilarious and his portrait was also really funny with his small stoic face so i decided to use him, unlike Radd who ended in a coffin Roger managed to get absolutely blessed in Defense and Speed to the point i thought he was this super good unit (until i looked at the wiki) and kept using him on repeat playthroughs. In my first shadow dragon run he was a pivital part in winning me the game throughout and i try to use him whenever i do repeat playthroughs. With the focus on more characterization in modern FE titles, we are seeing much less cannon fodder nobodies which is sad since i really like the gameplay experience of a character i wouldn't think twice about if they never existed, suddenly capturing my heart through circumstance. The closest modern FE experience that is the closest to this for me is Fates generic units who i regularly use to bait out enemy formations and trigger reinforcements or to have some quick utility for the upcoming chapters. Sometimes they live way past the expiration date and i grow too attached to them so i end up trying my best to use them for longer than i should even if its at the detriment of my run overall.
this video was great, good job, as for my scrub honestly i gotta go with horace idk why but i always train this guy, despite him being probably the worse prepromoted general ever, his design is cool but he's just fodder, the best fodder
@@rosheajakob idk he give à great unit feel but like whenevere i hear people speak of him he gets disrespected, he saved my first fe run ever i recruited him without knowing i remember not fighting him due to being scared, horace is à great dude my favorite général for sûre probably fav shadow dragon char but idk etzel and astram are also cool, shadow dragon has underated units Also i wish you the best for your vidéos, sorry for the long comment
a lot of prepromotes in Shadow Dragon get bad raps in the community for bad reasons I'd say. Horace and etzel are great, but Noone talks about him or if they do uts usually vaguely negative. astram gets ripped apart by the community but honestly base a swords js good enough to do some stuff. all of them I've had lots of fun using in the past and they have great unit feel imo.
i can never feel right using a high tier, which is why i never play high tiers in fighting games. it doesn't feel fun to win as them because they're just too good or too easy. the same goes for fire emblem, too. in my first run of conquest, i didn't use camilla. just because i knew she was good, and i wanted to train beruka instead. and in my first playthrough of FE 1, i lost nearly my entire army on one map except for one guy. Frey. and he basically became my best friend from the start to the end. im glad i got to have these experiences in this game. it made my FE1 playthrough feel so much more like an underdog story, which i always am a fan of.
fe11 really lends itself to that underdog story feeling, especially in an ironman where you lose a big chunk of your army. it's what made me fall in love with fe, an fe11 ironman gone south. it surprises me that Frey doesn't get more love tbh, he kinda rules. Beruka is also so cool and also so obviously overshadowed by camilla that it's hard to imagine the devs didn't design her that way which is kinda sad. love her tho
dorcas fe7. on my first (failed) run, i instantly promoted him at level 10 on raven's join map and then i heard about the mutton memes and i was like this is so funny this poor dude i hope he can help his wife good axebros funny
Me, who in my first run of fates conquest, immediately latched onto several prisoner units like Haitaka and Nichol, and went out of my way in every other playthrough and route using the same one from the logbook, until I had a elite vanguard squad of Prisoner Units that I took through every route on Lunatic and used them to slay on online. Those were the good ol days.
@thepsyshyster8243 in the background footage, which is a draft run, I drafted 4 capturable bosses and it was SOO fun. Tarba, Funke, Candace, and Llewellyn.
I LOOOVE the capturable bosses. Nichol and Haitaka are so fun to use and so dumb. it's hilarious. I used Daniela my first BR playthrough, and she was so funny. I had a forged tome called the Danimals snd i took her to endgame where she got murdered by the promoted enemies lol. In the footage in the video, which is a draft run, I drafted Tarba, Llewellyn, Funke and Candace and it was so fun giving them a boatload of statboostrrs and dlc classes to Crack them out
I mentioned this on the Shadow Dragon Iron man run that mine was Roshea as well. I mentioned it on a video I finished for my 30th birthday that I didn't upload yet but if I had to explain it here. I was interested in playing that particular game because Marth was one of my favourite characters to play in Smash Bros melee and I also saw his OVA and I was coop with someone else expecting to use Gordin. My first encounter with Roshea was expecting to give two of the cavs in chapter 5 and one Horseman with the sole cav being my own choice, I was almost tempted to use Hardin but well... Cute mugshot won which was the same trap that made me pick Florina in Blazing Blade. I was tempted to drop him early on but we were running out of ponies(only Abel, Roshea, Matthis and Hardin) at that time and the other person wanted to drop the run so I played alone after yet another one(Matthis) died. I decided to give Roshea another chance and sent the Coyote squad(minus Vyland) to the arena which was what I did at the time and nothing seem to dawn on me the results other than how hard it is to train everyone in that chapter even on normal so I went on like a generic run and was considering promoting Navarre who was maxed out from using the arena. But it was the chapter Princess Minerva that changed everything. I was panicking when Minerva was tracking down my team after I recruited Maria, I had no idea what was going on as most of my good units were away dealing with the reinforcements with only a few units around, I realize Roshea has the highest defense of what was available(actually of the entire team I had) with 13 used him to wall off Minerva only to find she didn't even attack him and hired her with Marth. That derailed my plans to promote Navarre and decided to promote him...
My first playthrough was of fire emblem 7 and the only unit I really remember using was Lucius and my borderline deranged obsession with this guy. I don't think this one really counts though since Lucius is not bad and as a unit is somewhat memorable because he's the only monk in the game. An acutal scrub I remember was midia who I turned into an sniper in my first fe11 playthrough, I think the only reason I remember her because she was the only person I resclassed in that playthrough.
lucius is great, outclassed by other mages but still super fun to use. makes yoy feel like you're discovering something new. midias another overshadowed unit, she's got some good attributes but is largely underutilized
I think one of the interesting things about Fire Emblem is that even if a unit isn't great, they can still be useful and be fun to use. For the most part, Fire Emblem is tuned such that you can get away with using less than optimal units and with investment, these units can end up feeling really strong. I am personally drawn to units that have something unique about them, even if it's superficial. Like in PoR with Mist being the only unit who can use a physical weapon along with staffs; that makes her fun to use. Or just having a unique weapon that makes them special.
Gonzalez is so fun. Big guy kills things if he hits them, just gotta nail that coin flip enough times. I haven't used Hugh yet but he seems so cool. he has such a cool portrait, and ofc i love the purple hair
Carrion has gotten be one of my favorite scrubs. Despite looking pretty generic, his name is pretty cool and for the longest time I thought the Paragon Sword was his prf. Very middling cavalier, not better than any of the prepromoted ones or Finn but you can pretty much make anyone good with scrolls. Shoutouts to Ronan as well, whenever I use him he's always one of my first units that I promote and for a majority of the game he'll have single digit strength but multiple growths in movement and capped Spd and Mag.
Brighton may be my #1 for thracia, but I still have a soft spot for the other scrubby cavs in that silly game. what can I say, I love generic-looking cavs. Ronan Stat build is so funny to me. why is he like that? why so much res and mov growth and vigor stars and stuff? it's hilarious
I really like Ronan in FE5, you mentioned his godly move growth, but another positive is his massive magic growth. He's a fantastic mage killer. And there's not a lot of competition for bows either. Now, yes, he has HORRIBLE strength growth, but the cap is 20 and scrolls exist. I've never had it actually matter. Another fave (its kind of contentious whether or not this character counts) is Rinkah. Fantastic defense, and ridiculous crit with the great club as a Blacksmith, especially paired with Kaze, which I always do. Their pair up bonuses really help each other out.
as soren and tormod’s #3 biggest fan, they will always have a slot in my party also funny that you mention wolt and ogier because along with lugh they carried so hard
Severa, Cordelia, Tharja, and Felicia really stand out for me. I'm not sure if they count, but I just love using these characters. Severa, Cordelia, and Felicia are even my top three favorite Fire Emblem characters.
pink hair and also tharja lol. haven't really used severa and tharja, but Cordelia certainly feels good to use and felicia being the only base-class mage unless you get flora at tbe end is super cool. being able to debuff and use staves feels like you're always getting use out of her
Bartre and Arden are my go to scrubs in the series. Every now and then I do a playthrough with him and hope for Speed blessed bartre. Arden I use every time and he’s actually competent when trained up.
part of the reason that i love radiant dawn and fe12 so much is that they’re just stuffed to the gills with scrubs to pluck out of obscurity, grind to 20/20, and bring to endgame. last year i replayed the tellius duology so i could cap tormod in fe9, give him transfer bonuses, and then give him both celerity and the boots in fe10 because Haha Fire Boy Go Brrrrr and that’s peak fire emblem to me
I definitely feel this after I managed to get a Rinkah with 30 Strength with some luck and some Energy Drops in my most recent playthrough of Birthright, with a Great Club and Death Blow while as a Blacksmith for the extra Skill to help offset the low hit rate she was one shotting almost everything in the game
maria (note: maria refers to itself in third person) recently played fe3 for the first time (finished tonight, in fact) and roshea got two crits in a row when he joined he ended up becoming an unstoppable god and maria fell in love with him even more when it found out he was the only recruitable member of the wolfguard in book 2 he ended up killing medeus in both book 1 and book 2
book 1 roshea is crazy good! I soloed the game with him. fe3 is a game that doesn't get talked about often but it's a great game. happy Maria had a good time with it!
I can completely understand this actually, while I don’t personally care about the “zero to hero” aspect of training units but we all have favorite “bad units”. My favorite bad unit is Tiltyu, a low level, low based, thunder locked infantry mage that joins right before the wind mage chapter but i like her because she has to defend claud against pirates that two round her and the game gives you a divine pulse to bring her back when she inevitably dies
Son of a gun, I thought I was the only Roshea fan in the world! I have, like, the exact same story as you (except I wasn’t doing an Ironman but fvdbdfbdfb)
my scrub of choice is barth undoubtedly, i benched him twice but before my third fe6 playthrough, i became endeared to this knight who was so slow he was actually more frail than the majority of my units, no matter how high his defense was he still kept taking more damage than my other enemy phase units but that was hilarious to me
I think the closest I have to a "scrub" that I really like is Norne? Unless we count Ilyana and Mia, but I think those two are good enough and too popular to really count. I am such a casul sheep smh Neat little video.
omg SoV Clive!! He isn’t *awful* really, but he’s so outclassed by Alm’s other cavs that he just kind of fades into the scenery for many. NOT ME THOUGH, I adore him and will always give him the finest stat boosters
My is actually Dorcas, it is silly how if you invest him he can be pretty silly. On my last HHM I used Dorcas and got B axes. In the main game I gave him the Draco shield which did wonders with his high hp and used the first hero crest while he had a A in axes by the time you get one in a chest Fe3 Caesar is also a fun example of how bases and promo bonuses are enough to get you through. Hid growths are slightly or way worse then Oguma but his base speed of 12 means he doubles the vast majority of enemies base and while his wlv growth is a little low it still will let him use sliver sword which allows him to one round a lot of enemies. Promo bonuses means he will hit bench marks needed to OHK. Real issue is his bad muck growth means he needs a goddess icon to avoid low crits and you can give him a weapon scroll if you want him to get sliver sword access asap. He is irrevalant due to being a replacement/ budget Oguma but in a draft or iron man he is one of the better of the bad characters
I haven't used fe3 Caesar yet but in fe1 he's very fun to train. love him so much, an alltime scrub for me. dorcas, the mutton man. anybody with high str and def and low spd appears to be in my good graces. he's such a cool Character
I will fight to the DEATH for the honor of Caspar von Bergliez and I will hear NO slander about him on my watch. I equipped him so hard in my subsequent playthroughs, he carries my Maddening runs now and I do it SPECIFICALLY to spite the people who say they bench him in favor of like. Felix. He fights for justice and I will fight for the justice of my boy. His high energy and short stature drew me to him as a character on my very first 3H playthrough (which was also my first real FE game), and then he hit his growth spurt and that cemented my love for him. He's become my best unit ever since, and his supports telling me more about the kind of character he is made me just absolutely enamored with him, even more than I already was. I was shocked to hear people not like him all that much, both in personality and in terms of usefulness in battle. I didn't care about his usefulness, I just think he's a scrunkly little guy and I brought him with me because I liked him and that's all the reason I needed. Tormod is also my favorite little guy and I recognize that he gets done REAL dirty in Radiant Dawn, but that's not gonna stop me from using him, keeping Celerity on him, and giving him Boots to make him the fastest little gremlin mage alive. Let my boy RUN.
I think Caspar js a fantastic character and I love his design. it's a shame how dirty he was done in gameplay but he's still quite usable, even in maddening. tormod... he just leaves... poor guy. love him in fe9 but haven't braved him in fe10 yet. not having him fkr most of the game sucks mannnn but celerity is so juicy
It wasn’t my first FE game, but I LOVE Rinkah from Birthright. Yes her Strength is literally lower than the dancer, yeah clubs are a terrible weapon type, but dang it I keep using her anyways. Closest to a “Scrub” I love in my first game is probably Lissa, but by being a starting Healer kinda ruins that. But gods in FEH…I have base Lissa +10’d, max flowered, ALL the expensive offense skills to make her a nuke, instead of just using an actually good offensive staff. The instant a fourth Lissa alt comes out I’m building the all Lissa team.
in my latest birthright playthrough i used horse spirit chieftan rinkah and she was actually my second best unit, taking 0 damage from any physical damage for the second half of the game
birthright was one of the first fe games I played and I didn't know that she was kinda bad but I loved using her. I still kinda like using clubs cuz of her even tho they suck. one of the best things about feh js being able to give the most scrimblo characters so much favoritism. i have a super wolfguard in feh and I don't even play anymore but it makes me so happy
I have tbe same experience with stahl! if you look deep enough in my community tab there's a post of me saying something like "I'm sorry guys but I think Stahl is pretty hot" and yeah he was my first awakening s support
there's so many ways to pronounce it that I have no idea what's tally correct lol. I just say OH-gee-ay because the spelling reminds me kf the French name Olivier which js pronounced like that lmao
Basically all of the mid to lategame scrubs in echoes could go here, the gane letting yoi deploy everybody outside of dungeons and the final map led to me wanting to use everyone. In general I tend to get attached to too many characters often because I like the early dynamics and utility spreads, which led to ross becoming one of my favourite early unitd in fe8, ny first game, its a common pick for "guy that kinda sucks when played optinally" but dang I love my scrappy little hero turned pirate, having a class functionally exclusive to him is really cool and helps him feel distinct from his dad and everyone else in your army, even if you coukd argue that niche disqualifies him from being just a throwaway guy.
I’ve never had trouble picking out units, since I try to playing it safe. But if I had to pick my scrubs it have to be Sophia and Zeiss from FE6. Next would probably be Pegasus sisters of FE7, i alway end up with Florina dying when I was younger. So I felt I needed to make it up to her, so I decided to just try my best to save her and I loved how she would do end. And for her sisters I pretty sure they would murder me if they ever found out how I treated Florina. And then finally from FE8 would probably be Innes and Moulder, most Moulder. I always loved using Neimi(Ranger) and Lute(Sage) when I always played the game. But after using both girls one too many times. I used Innes once’s and I loved him. And the same was done to Moulder, I never really bother putting in effort for Moulder, but after I made him Sage, he was purifying the monster with holy fire and thunder, left and right. And for Innes? The bastard used Sure Strike two on a Dracozombie once, I decided he was truly worthy of the grind.
some very nice picks here. really feel you on innes, and while I'm not crazy attached to the others I know some roshea effect worthy characters when I see them
i disagree, i only use S tier units like Bors, Lot, Vyland, Rinkah, Rebecca and Kellam, you are playing the game WRONG!
zamn! I've been owned!! I will be deleting my desmume soon.
Bors? That's cute. Try Gigachad Barth. He tonk gud
....Kellam is low tier? Kellam has great pair up potential and has really solid stats.
You forgot Arden, he is so S tier he gets bitches
Hey, Rebecca is one of my favorite characters lol! Nothing like a sweet country gal to eat roast fowl with
God bless the New Mystery writers. They actually had to write supports for all these scrubs who didn't even have any dialogue or characterization previously.
whoever was in charge of importing all the new characters into fe12 deserves a gold star-shaped sticker and some candy
Mid archers are my favorite thing to train in Fire Emblem, they’re so bad until they suddenly start doubling and one-shotting some poor NPC enemy 😂
the classic scrubs. gordin my son. if there's an early archer in an fe game, they're a scrub
We had ignatz carry on this tradition fairly recently
I remember reclassing miriel to a dark mage on my first go because the game said they had high defense and I kept getting her 2 shotted due to my mistakes
I paired her up with Ricken so they both get the funny +10 magic on the other screen
I love my boy Leonardo. No strength, no speed, and still manages to be useful in every map you deploy him in
the personal bow go BBRAZY
My favorite archer in any FE game, to be honest. Love his design.
Yes this. He’s so fascinating. Like, yeah, he really does suck, but for whatever reason he’s usable. Leonardo >>>>>> Edward fr fr
Unironically Mekkah and Raisin just fell to the Roche effect of Marissa during their latest playthorugh of FE8 Lunatic (Hardmode FE8 where enemies have all of their non DEF&RES growths multiplied by 1.6 and they play through both routes with their army split evenly)
real time roshea sickness taking place
Still can't believe they gave Roshea actual Speed and a tie for the highest Def growth in the game in FE3 Book 1 only to take it away again in Shadow Dragon
I want my boy back
...oh yeah, Castor was a standout in that Book 1 run as well. Bowhorse funny.
free my mans fe3 roshea
Castor is another alltime scrub for me.
I will stand by Roger, "The God-ger" until the bitter end.
Roger's so funny. he's like draug 2 but with the goofiest recruitment. he truly is a godger
Mia and Nephenee are the two main ones that come to mind... but Nephenee I feel like I hear too many good things about to count, and Mia is also popular. So my last choice is someone I've never heard anyone even mention. I love my boy JANAFF. Love that bird.
I'd say just from viability neph and Mia are scrub material tbh. but yeah they're pretty popular
but
I LOVE janaff too!! he's my fav tellius scrub and idk why tbh but he's just so skrunkly!!! I did a por ironman and I put him on like all the thumbnails
All 3 of them are really good in fe10 tho@@rosheajakob
@nessdbest8708 still scrub material. Mia maybe not in rd but the other two aren't super popular
@rosheajakob how is nephenee not super popular? She's one of the most popular tellius characters
Edit: nevermind.
Well, he's Normal Archer Number 3 after all
@@shytendeakatamanoir9740So true, could not agree more
I'm playing a fe7 Ironman right now and wil is honestly my MVP, I was like "i might as well give him and Rebecca a try" but Rebecca fell off and wil got lucky on stats and solos things that even the Christmas cavs cant
Later when I found out she was one of the worst characters in the game I was kind of like “yeah that tracks” given my earlier disappointment.
mechanist rinkah sounds fun s he'll actually. not good lmao but fun.
tragic that the Fire tribe didn't get to do much, I'd've loved do see more of it.
I feel like I have a dedicated scrub character for every game, Cord, Luthier, Bors, the list goes on
I also feel this way, and I have a video about this in the works :)))) every game has the scrubs
My favorite thing to do is take units that are considered "trash" and make them into absolute powerhouses.
My archers were oneshotting EVERYONE, dammit!
peak fe is snowballing a bad unit
My personal super Scrub is Kane from Fire Emblem Thracia 776. Basically, in chapter 9 (or so), you have to help a girl named Selphina and her three named knights that are so generic and weak they probably only exist to be sacrificed to gain some turns since the bad guys are closer to them than you are. But because his name is Kane and it made me think of Citizen Kane, I decided he was in party 100% of the time. He died on the last chapter to protect Nanna, and this is the most heroic sacrifice that I witnessed in my Fire Emblem runs. So yeah, I really love Kane.
I LOVE the Scrubguard in fe5. fe5 in general has a ton of goofy cavs that I love (my favorites Brighton) but God all kf them make me so happy
I just started Engage and he's freaking awesome. I'm glad other people appreciate him too.
Rebecca's one of those units that feels so good to watch snowball.
Heck yeah that’s a great team there
Colm is one of my staples as well. both rogue and assassin are so fun for him! plenty of roshea effect tk be had in fe8 tho, lots of scrimblos
Me deploying Colm and Neimi on every map because they're cute together:
colm is my favorite Thief to train as both rogue and assassin. he rocks. and ranger neimi is my Roman empire
FE will maybe never top shannam in terms of joke characters
Plus if he gets added, Radd has a good shot of being added too, since they're a package deal.
no cipher art :((
Caesar recently became a top tier scrub for me, I did a harebrained Hunter - General build in fe11 that paid off so well. radd also js just.
I know!! so many units have saving grace type builds like draug, Cord, darros, Caesar, even roshea. its so cool
Only reason I have yet to reuse him is that Rebecca exists and I love her xD
Andof course there is Arden.
I recommend playing him in fe3 tho bc they buffed his growths and he's crazy in it
Wil is one of my fav archers. he's just like the most average looking guy in fe7 and I think that's hilarious.
arden. my beloved.
man fe has so many cool characters to just use because they're mid
I wish more FE games had generics, even if they are mid at best
In my first playthrough of Sacred Stones (my first FE), I lovingly dragged Neimi and Colm all the way to the Demon King. Were they terrible combat units? In retrospect, yes, but the uniqueness of bows charmed me and Colm's near-immediate support conversations with Neimi meant that I paired them up constantly.
My Neimi when I played was actually an awesome combat unit. I always wish Colm could be one because the look and animations he gets are so freaking cool so I try to use him and level him up as much as I could even if he’s not going to be my top performer
my first fe8 playthrough, I used these two also! I had ramger neimi and rogue colm, they're some of my alltime fav scrubs
my first neimi was terrible bc she got screwed in every relevant Stat but my colm was super blessed. I love his animations so much and I've used him every playthrough ever and neimi quite a but as well
Colm is fun~ I'd make him an assassin though >
She did. I stopped using all the parent characters by the end of that run, but their Morgan was hell on a horse, and obviously Stahl taught him everything he knew.
we've found them. stahls strongest soldier.
I love Stahl too, my fav awakening character. I married him my first playthrough :)
I'm glad you liked the video :D the roshea effect is something I've felt forever and I'm glad it's resonating with people
I once had roshea proc 2 consecutive speed level ups and I've have always remembered him for that
every roshe I've ever used has been at least 3 points spd blessed and I think it's a cosmic sign for me honestly
I love archers so much even though they are usually scruns
archers are great. the serotonin boost I get when I hit an enemy knowing they can't hit me back needs to be studied
Virion may be a scrub to some, but to me, he's a well-written man with dashing hair and a tendency to crit with the longbow I randomly picked up off the floor so I always field him.
virion is a silly dude. I should use him one of these days. I love good longbows
This was very well done. I didn't know about Roshea before, thank you for sharing
thank you! I'm glad I can introduce you to peak character design
My favorite scrimblo is Hugh from Binding Blade. When I first played, he stood out so much for being an older mage compared to the child mages you got earlier. His colors and expression made him stand out too, I just love the guy.
love his portrait. he's always pondering.
the money mechanic with him is cool too, too bad I'm always broke by then and I forget I wanted to use high
I mean, you're not wrong. And he could serve as a Healer once promoted
tbh it feels like he was supposed to come promoted, that staff utility is so nice
I can't state enough this is one of the things that newer games are missing and I kinda miss it.
I know! maybe it's the increased characterization or the slimming of the cast size but there's hardly any absolutely terrible units in switch fe
But hey give him a meta wyvern and reforged axes and bows and my boy does his job (but still dies in one hit)
ashe was actually my answer to the opening question! my first game was 3h and I attached to ashe! he's the softest boy
Gordin my beloved, he is such a nobody unit but I cannot help but use him everytime
FIVE POINTS!!
Lyre is a unit that exists in Radiant Dawn, and one of my favorites to use. She actually has pretty good potential, but is 100% not worth the effort.
love the angry Gato. she reminds me of my cat lmao
As a side note, that same first run also made me fall in love with the Swordmaster line after seeing Joshua crit for the first time, and I've been huffing that copium ever since
I don't care how bad they are, every team of mine will have at least one Swordmaster present
Amelia is one of the best examples of zero-to-hero style roshea effect there is. even among trainees she sucks lmao, but she still is so cool and fun. Joshua is a staple of my ss runs also because i just love the sword master and assassin anims. and Joshua has a cool hat :)
Matthew Fire Emblem 7 my beloved
I train my Matthew like a combat unit every time I play that game.
I looove assassin Matthew. they were really cooking when they made him able to promote
I've been using him recently and it just feels so good when his training pays off
Looking back my first scrub was definitely Ricken for his big doofy hat, i just absolutely love his hat
A more recent one is Flayn as since she has absolutely terrible everything but good resistance i decided to make her a general and she actually became invincible, too bad Valkyrie came out and was actually a good class for her
ricken with the most Gandalf-ass fit while being a small child is still so funny to me.
Flayn has many shenanigans for her builds which are fun. I did like a Levin sword dancer with sword avoid once and jt was hilarious.
ur so real for ricken he was my first scrub too!!
I was gonna start listing names, but then i realized I would just be listing most of the "trash" characters from FE6, so if you can't remember the last time you used them in Binding Blade, they're probably on my list. My latest iron man of it took Lot, Ogier, Noah, Fir, Wolt and Cecelia into endgame, cuz most of my other faves died along the journey there.
some peak scrubs on that list
For me this is mainly Ricken, Ignatz, and Clanne. Could they be replaced with better units? Yeah. Am I going to? No. I will use my boys in every map and you cannot stop me. Not even getting RNG screwed will stop me!
some of my favorite child soldiers for sure. rickens floppy hat makes me wanna use him all the time
@@rosheajakob a fellow hat appreciator!
@@Error403HRD indeed!
While I feel like there's more to talk about in regards to the topic of these funny little dudes this was still a very neat video
Scrubs in FE are such a breath of fresh air to just mess around with after experiencing a good unit performing well on the like 5th playthrough of a game
I don't know enough about Fates so I'm not sure if he counts but Arthur is probably one of my favorite scrub characters to use
The man being a constant source of dopamine just for not getting crit is great fun
I've been using Arthur recently and yep. the low luck fighter is a very fun build. love that man
Setsuna my beloved.
I put a lot of experience in Edelgard(without knowing the twist) and Byleth, but he was not strong enough to solo and all my other units kinda sucked.
he's just a fun guy who likes to punch things. a lot.
For me its always the first cleric. I really like healers in general and turning them into monsters upon promotion feels so good
moulder the Boulder, w wrys, Natasha, elen, laura, rhys... early clerics are great examples. love them
Excellent, another underground FEtuber to add to my subscription box
aww thanks 💜💜
me always dragging noah along so that fir has a friend.
purple together strongl
For me is Edward in Radiant dawn and Fir in FE6
ahh a myrm enjoyer i see.
Is this the first time Salts appreciates Fe12? (real)
fe3 roshea js so peak it's unbelievable. my fav unit in tbe series.
Fergus is also so good
@@gurucheeks4510 I didn't say "New", did I?
he's playing a better game than fe12
@@rosheafan Nobody has ever referred to Fe3 as Mystery I just thought it was a typo ok
Is that the Scrub Brigade?! No, it’s just a bird.
My favourite scrimblos are always the early archers (except wil since rath shows up so soon after)
early archers are always peak scrimblo material
Bless them all.
doga my beloved 💜
arden my king 🤴
oswin the bosswin 💥
I love them so much. Xavier I haven't used for, uh, reasons.
scrunkle enjoyer approved 👍
thank scrunkle enjoyer 💜
Glad to see this vid doing well.
thanks 💜💜 I'm really glad abt it too lmao
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who likes roshea for literally no reason
roshea gang roshea gang
Sometimes they live way past the expiration date and i grow too attached to them so i end up trying my best to use them for longer than i should even if its at the detriment of my run overall.
it's definitely a part of the cast I miss in other fe games. I love cannon fodder nobodies. they make the game so fun
this video was great, good job, as for my scrub honestly i gotta go with horace idk why but i always train this guy, despite him being probably the worse prepromoted general ever, his design is cool but he's just fodder, the best fodder
looove Horace. Mega underrated. he's so sick!! also he's pretty good as a unit I'd say, but definitely overshadowed because SD is a weird game
@@rosheajakob idk he give à great unit feel but like whenevere i hear people speak of him he gets disrespected, he saved my first fe run ever i recruited him without knowing i remember not fighting him due to being scared, horace is à great dude my favorite général for sûre probably fav shadow dragon char but idk etzel and astram are also cool, shadow dragon has underated units
Also i wish you the best for your vidéos, sorry for the long comment
a lot of prepromotes in Shadow Dragon get bad raps in the community for bad reasons I'd say.
Beruka is also so cool and also so obviously overshadowed by camilla that it's hard to imagine the devs didn't design her that way which is kinda sad. love her tho
dorcas fe7. on my first (failed) run, i instantly promoted him at level 10 on raven's join map
and then i heard about the mutton memes and i was like this is so funny this poor dude i hope he can help his wife good
axebros funny
earlypromo dorcas is PEAK
Me, who in my first run of fates conquest, immediately latched onto several prisoner units like Haitaka and Nichol, and went out of my way in every other playthrough and route using the same one from the logbook, until I had a elite vanguard squad of Prisoner Units that I took through every route on Lunatic and used them to slay on online.
Those were the good ol days.
Captureable Units my beloved
@thepsyshyster8243 in the background footage, which is a draft run, I drafted 4 capturable bosses and it was SOO fun. Tarba, Funke, Candace, and Llewellyn.
I LOOOVE the capturable bosses. Nichol and Haitaka are so fun to use and so dumb. it's hilarious. I used Daniela my first BR playthrough, and she was so funny. I had a forged tome called the Danimals snd i took her to endgame where she got murdered by the promoted enemies lol. In the footage in the video, which is a draft run, I drafted Tarba, Llewellyn, Funke and Candace and it was so fun giving them a boatload of statboostrrs and dlc classes to Crack them out
Rad was one, it took so much patience leveling him up and feeding him kills. Good video idea!
thank you! I love radd. I should use him one of these days in fe11. I've only used him I'm fe1
That derailed my plans to promote Navarre and decided to promote him...
every roshea fan has an amazing story
Or just having a unique weapon that makes them special.
great summary of my thoughts honestly. that feeling is what makes fe for me, and ther are so many units with weird unique properties like mist
Gonzalez. And Underflow Hugh, if you know the trick you can have the glassiest of cannons.
Gonzalez is so fun. Big guy kills things if he hits them, just gotta nail that coin flip enough times. I haven't used Hugh yet but he seems so cool. he has such a cool portrait, and ofc i love the purple hair
Stahl mention!!!!!! he's my favorite blorbo :)
my first awakening s support 💜💜 love him
Carrion has gotten be one of my favorite scrubs.
Their pair up bonuses really help each other out.
as soren and tormod’s #3 biggest fan, they will always have a slot in my party
also funny that you mention wolt and ogier because along with lugh they carried so hard
mages 💜
also a core of wolt ogier and lugh sounds pretty wild for an fe6 run. love that
Severa, Cordelia, Tharja, and Felicia really stand out for me. I'm not sure if they count, but I just love using these characters. Severa, Cordelia, and Felicia are even my top three favorite Fire Emblem characters.
pink hair and also tharja lol. haven't really used severa and tharja, but Cordelia certainly feels good to use and felicia being the only base-class mage unless you get flora at tbe end is super cool. being able to debuff and use staves feels like you're always getting use out of her
@@rosheajakob I leave Felicia as a maid. She's pretty good at it.
Bartre and Arden are my go to scrubs in the series. Every now and then I do a playthrough with him and hope for Speed blessed bartre. Arden I use every time and he’s actually competent when trained up.
bartre, the family guy. love him.
arden never misses. always gets many laughs from me when I use him
part of the reason that i love radiant dawn and fe12 so much is that they’re just stuffed to the gills with scrubs to pluck out of obscurity, grind to 20/20, and bring to endgame. last year i replayed the tellius duology so i could cap tormod in fe9, give him transfer bonuses, and then give him both celerity and the boots in fe10 because Haha Fire Boy Go Brrrrr and that’s peak fire emblem to me
fe12 is just scrub central. everyone except like 4 units are scrubs.
tormod is one I've used before and he's super funny. fireboy go BRR
I love making one-shot machines. I don't CARE if adding rend heaven is just making me proc astra less, I'm giving it to my shiro.
maria (note: maria refers to itself in third person) recently played fe3 for the first time (finished tonight, in fact) and roshea got two crits in a row when he joined
he ended up becoming an unstoppable god and maria fell in love with him even more when it found out he was the only recruitable member of the wolfguard in book 2
he ended up killing medeus in both book 1 and book 2
book 1 roshea is crazy good! I soloed the game with him. fe3 is a game that doesn't get talked about often but it's a great game. happy Maria had a good time with it!
I can completely understand this actually, while I don’t personally care about the “zero to hero” aspect of training units but we all have favorite “bad units”.
My favorite bad unit is Tiltyu, a low level, low based, thunder locked infantry mage that joins right before the wind mage chapter but i like her because she has to defend claud against pirates that two round her and the game gives you a divine pulse to bring her back when she inevitably dies
everyone has one!! tailtiu is a prime example, she's really unique but just not great. really worth liking
Son of a gun, I thought I was the only Roshea fan in the world! I have, like, the exact same story as you (except I wasn’t doing an Ironman but fvdbdfbdfb)
KINDRED SPIRITS
my scrub of choice is barth undoubtedly, i benched him twice but before my third fe6 playthrough, i became endeared to this knight who was so slow he was actually more frail than the majority of my units, no matter how high his defense was he still kept taking more damage than my other enemy phase units but that was hilarious to me
its so great to love someone because of how bad they are
Bord is my favorite unit in fe3 unit! Subscribed!
bord was born a scrub. he's just so silly
yeah but he have some use, especially in fe3@@rosheajakob
he does which is what make him funny. holding an axe is enough sometiems
he got good defense growth in fe3 too@@rosheajakob
Oh Jimmyfe
I think the closest I have to a "scrub" that I really like is Norne? Unless we count Ilyana and Mia, but I think those two are good enough and too popular to really count. I am such a casul sheep smh
Neat little video.
norne is definitely a scrub. she sucks lmao. I'd say ilyana at least isn't like used by everyone so she counts, especially in por
Literally who?
omg SoV Clive!! He isn’t *awful* really, but he’s so outclassed by Alm’s other cavs that he just kind of fades into the scenery for many. NOT ME THOUGH, I adore him and will always give him the finest stat boosters
biggg Clive fan. cavs in general are my favorites usually, and cloves no exception. sometimes my endgame team has like 4 cavs in sov lmao
My is actually Dorcas, it is silly how if you invest him he can be pretty silly.
On my last HHM I used Dorcas and got B axes. In the main game I gave him the Draco shield which did wonders with his high hp and used the first hero crest while he had a A in axes by the time you get one in a chest
Fe3 Caesar is also a fun example of how bases and promo bonuses are enough to get you through.
Finally I have found another Roshea enjoyer
ROSHEAS UNITE
@@rosheajakob YUP! Like it’s hard to get the skills, but if you can you can make characters work
My contribution for Scrub Sickness goes to Cord. E-Rank Axes be damned, my man can schmove.
I recommend any and all people to try the Cordin Dark build. its like putting french fries in a frosty
@@rosheajakob Cord Dark Mage is a wild concept.
I did it in my most recent ironman and it worked great until I got him killed :(
The Dawn Brigade is my little scrimblo club.
more like tbe Scrub Brigade. My fav js Edward, but there's Leonardo, aran, Laura, they're all some amount of scrubby honestly
My scrimblo of choice was Stahl from Awakening. I thought he was cute, he was one of my most solid units, and I ended up S-supporting him
I have tbe same experience with stahl!
if you look deep enough in my community tab there's a post of me saying something like "I'm sorry guys but I think Stahl is pretty hot" and yeah he was my first awakening s support
@@rosheajakob👍 Stahl got gud defense. He gud
Omg a fellow +10 Roshea enjoyer! HIGH FIVE! ✋
🤚 ROSHEA ENJOYERS UNITE
I've never heard someone pronounce Ogier that way. Makes sense though. I always thought "Oh-gear"
there's so many ways to pronounce it that I have no idea what's tally correct lol. I just say OH-gee-ay because the spelling reminds me kf the French name Olivier which js pronounced like that lmao
5:45 > Mustafa.
Agreed.
Pour one out for him.
o7 a true hero
Ross is a great example. terrible when playing optimal, but one kf the most fun units in the game. berserker go BRRRRR
Hope you're having a good day
aww thanks 💜💜 I am having a good day, hopve you are too
I’ve never had trouble picking out units, since I try to playing it safe.
