      For clarification, I don't believe that Metatron was saying it was incorrect that you and your friends were armed and armored as peasants as he has talked about what weapons and armor peasants would have had access to in medieval times a few times on his channel. I believe he thought, like I did, that based on the title of the video this short film would revolve around a knight fighting the common working peasant going about their daily life. Metatron stating that they are "recruited" simply meant that these were no longer your average free tenant or serf but rather those that had been called on to fight in some capacity. BTW, Dash Rendar introduced me to your channel a little bit ago and I have been a big fan. Keep up the great work and thanks for lending him the armor to test.

      It fits perfectly for someone who would take an excited shot at a knight. It's like an inexperienced infantry man taking a shot at a tank. Takes the shot. Gives away his position. Gets the squad/company killed.

    There's been a video out of Ukraine of two soldiers ending up hand to hand with a knife. This reminds me a bit of that. The brutality of that fight... there was biting involved. I don't recommend watching it, but it seems like something you'd be interested in.
    Your comment on figuring your dead so why run; a friend of mine pointed out that behind every medal of valor, there was probably a moment where the man said "fuck it". And as a self defense guy, I like to point out to people that the guys who have been awarded the kinds of medals that are usually awarded posthumously weren't some species of supermen. They were regular guys in a bad situation and anybody is capable of a moment like that.

      On the flip side. That dude in plate is down a horse, has his full helmet on, and has just fought four guys to the death, if you run away you've got a great shot of outpacing him as he's probably pretty winded, possibly wounded, and likely gonna gas out before you do. Like Dequitem said, when the first two guys died the others should have run.
      Though, I will say, I have always maintained that there's no one more dangerous than someone whose pretty damn sure they're already dead. They will throw caution to the wind and just go for it, and maybe it's over for them, but that doesn't mean they can't end it for you too.

It is certainly possible for someone to be able to reload the crossbow faster (given it's a goat's foot and not something like a windlass; and maybe get off two shots in that scenario. Maybe not as likely, but it's not impossible from other videos I've seen.

    In regards to Metatron's comment on the crossbowman's accuracy. I think he was just pointing out that just because he can hit a horse doesn't necessarily mean he can make a very accurate shot on an armored opponent. After all, he may have been aiming for the knight and hit the horse.
    He didn't say that he was good because the horse died. It was just meant as an illustration that yeah, he hit a horse, but that's a much larger target than a weak spot on a knights armor. I'm more surprised that the knight was unharmed after possibly being thrown from his horse.
    As for the crossbow, it seems that everyone equates it with a gun. If it was garanteed to penetrate armor, they would have been everywhere in even greater numbers, and armor would have fallen out of use much sooner.

    • @dequitem
      @dequitem  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

      I wasn't attacking him there I wanted to give more informations about this topic. When a höre dies from that kind of bolt (if it doesn't hit the brain), the horse needs time to die, you can defenetly leave the horseback without injuries in most scenarios!

      @DLockholm 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Lots of comments thinking that the crossbow was the game changer, the only thing that could've killed the knight but that's just straight up false. With just a glance you can see that it is a relatively comparatively small crossbow, there is just no chance that it can pierce proper hardened steel armor or even pack a punch that could K.O the knight, and they knew this.

    • @dequitem
      @dequitem  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +9

      @@dequitem yooo thanks for answering and yeah, knights knew the strength and weaknesses of their gear better than anyone else. If I'm confident of my armor I'd be the guy who would say "go ahead, you have one chance" and I don't need evidence to know that many knights were this confident, how can they not? They were literally killing machines trained for war since childhood

      @dequitem Quick reply back, nice. I wasn't attacking you either or saying you were attacking Metatron. I was more responding to other comments.
      What I meant by the rider getting injured was that if the horse unexpectedly reared up or bucked due to its injury and the knight fell off.
      I am very glad the algorithm finally brought your channel to my attention. Now, I can be an armchair knight! 😄

    I'm following your channel for a lot of time and can say - amazing work, man! Very well composed videos and I love how realistic they are.
    When I saw the first Metatron video I was - YES! Very happy that your two channels meet and looking forward for more content.. Maybe some crossover or team work in the future?
    I guess will be nightmare to organize, but still.. man can dream =]
    By the way.. the only problem that I have with this and the original film is.. the helmet. I'm sure that in general combat history there is a moment when the helmet is not fitting well, or the soldier is not using the strap, but it's just really hard to believe moment to ambush a knight and then run with your helmet unsecured..
    Anyway.. everything else was amazing and really hope that you share the video of the first fight. Some of the scenes that you share here look awesome.

    19:11 I can tell you from experience, adrenaline is one hell of a pain killer. Everyone is different though.
    Long story short, my squad and I were raiding a house. An IED was hidden in the outer wall below waist height. It detonated. My team leader lost one leg instantly (second hand to be amputated) and he didn't feel the pain initially. That's also shock. Another guy had multiple shrapnel wounds and his legs broken from ankle to femus. He was in pain. I'd go through each (13 total wounded) but you get the picture. As for me, I was dizzy and had a fucking headache. I had tingling sensation in one of my legs (19 pieces of minor shrapnel) but that was the extent initially. Afterwards it felt like I was in a terrible car crash.
    TL;DR adrenaline and shock can dampen your reading of pain.

    Fairly realistic. If these guys had practiced fighting an armored knight, they'd almost certainly have won. Three guys facing him with the man-catcher to hold him, while the fourth guy circles behind him and hits those weak points. But they were surprised, probably weren't disciplined fighters who had planned out "emergency action drills". Would like to see a rerun of the fight where the "Brigands" ambush the knight and have a plan and aren't surprised.
