I think one more layer will be perfect! Also, once you seal it, the trim might darken just a smidge. Regardless, it looks SO good MaCenna!

Love this new video. Great job Macenna. I think it looks good, the contrast of the lighter and darker wood tones. Otherwise it would look too heavy, imo. But live with it for awhile and if it still looks wrong to you, then stain it again. But for now, really great job!

I’ve never realized how many little pieces of trim are stacked on top of each other to create an ornate look like this. Every time you brought out another piece of trim I laughed because it seems never ending! Looks gorgeous MaCenna !

I was actually thinking that the white electrical outlets need to be switched out to brown and wooden outlet covers stained to match. Brass would be another option if you want to call attention to the area, but a different sort of attention than the color they are currently attracts. She’s done a super job as always.
@@ShelleB this would be ideal, even brown or black outlets and covers would look so much better than white, but wow a wood cover would be so amazing I didn't know that was a thing!
@@aliplay5 yes, totally! Just Google wooden outlet covers. You can get them in raw wood and stain to match perfectly. We’ve done that in our home where an outlet is on a bathroom linen closet that abuts a vanity. 😁
That sneak peek of the front gate at the end! It's so adorable. And all the trim in this rich wood tone gives such a substantial feel to the living room. It's stunning MaCenna!

Wow wow wow, this is amazing! I actually love that the wood is not all 100% matchy matchy. It looks more lived in and historical to me in a way.
Also, this is the reason why these kinds of details are so darn expensive. The wood is costly, yes, but also the level of craftswomanship that just takes time to do to make it look this good. You can‘t rush that.

The switch from a “puffball” Kinsley when you pried off the baseboards to a “fresh from the spa” Kinsley when you reinstalled them was the best thing ever!! She is so cute. Love the haircut on that sweet baby!

I stained my new deck yesterday and I can't move today. Watching this girl and the work she has put in, days and days trial and error. Literally sweat and I am sure tears . I am in amazement and aww of her. You are so inspiring macenna. God bless you girl and I wish you well.

The trim gives the effect of ornate furniture!! It's so impactful, more than I thought possible. The frame to the kitchen is EVERYTHING. GREAT JOB! Kinsley is the cutest. I love how the encased doorway to the kitchen mimics the box windows on either side of the oven! So pretty 💖
Trims when when cut is called milled and a local wood mill shop is a good place for custom trim pieces that you find in homes.
There are metal mill shops also.
The trim on top the panels with that cut I believe is called a paneing trim. You can do something on the back side of trim to go over say the light switch plate or the difference at the windows these make for a better seal from drafts also.
My dad when mixing old and new would do a pattern installing the piece even if the matching was off it had a nice pattern and not just a block that was different. The only time it didn't workout and he was going to do more his customer loved the pattern.I loved seeing you doing your transaction doorway between your kitchen and living room.

Wow. The wood trim and wainscoting just elevated the living room to another level! Just beautiful, MaCenna. You should be able to sheet rock the inside sides of fireplace and paint them black...it all just disappears and we only see the flames 🔥. Coming along quite nicely, I'd say. These reno videos are my absolute favorite things you produce!

Do not worry, in old houses the woodwork never has the same tone due to sunshine that bleaches unevenly. I think you did a great job

Wow, what a difference trim makes. The scale of the trim seemed to me to be too large but once in the space and stained, it just elevated the ambience. The stop trim, just everything. I have to admire how when the one door trim wasn't right you just started again instead of trying to fix it in place which was such a good call. I want trim everywhere now. I love your perseverance and you are on your own tackling this project. It's amazingly beautiful. The end shot of the room....perfection.

Wow! What a difference a trim makes. I’d sit on the stain for a while until you’re not concentrating on it so much. I don’t mind the contrasting wood tones, it looks very natural. Don’t forget the darker you go the more detail you’ll lose. You can always make it darker but the reverse is nearly impossible. I think it will look lovely with the clear finish on it. It’s an amazing job by the way 😍😍😍

Wow, what a difference the room looks with the trim. So beautiful. You did an amazing job with color matching the older pine. With time the pine should darken more as well. Your technique for the trimming the windows and doors is so different to what I’ve seen but I love the detail. It’s pretty much like framing a picture. Gorgeous. If you decide to change careers, I think you’d have a fantastic career as a finish carpenter. Your attention to detail is top notch!

With all the love in the world, when using power saw tools, always keep your hands at least 6 inches from the blade at all times and when using a table saw, use a push stick to finish the cut (on smaller pieces). My carpentry instructor also said to never stand in line with the blade because of kickback or the blade could jump. Stay safe :)

I've been waiting for the trim to go up so much. Those 3 windows look so good and so rich and expensive. The living room is the gem in the house even though the kitchen is amazing. The trim in this house made me love wooden details even more.

Ugh I am so so so so happy that you put trim around the entry way through to the kitchen. Like I always knew that you would probably do it but it looks SO beautiful. I love that you did the wrap around detail and even though I have always loved the box windows in the kitchen, they were the only windows in that area that had stain. Your trim looks beautiful! Such a long, hard job, but definitely worth it. Yes, there's a big difference in how old, antique pine will take the stain vs how brand new pine will. The difference is that your antique pine comes from old growth forest so the grain is finer and denser. In the same thickness, there are more growth rings in old pine and the wood fibers are denser - closet together - so that when you stain that wood, there are more fibers taking in the stain and you will get a deeper, darker, richer color. Thus isn't just true for pine, but I think it's really noticeable in pine because it's a soft wood.
