When I lowered my car, I was expecting a lot of things to break but the one thing I didn’t expect was having both my fender linings and my engine splash cover to fall off on the interstate😂. Its scared the shit out of me while I was going 90 on the interstate
Fitment Industries its great, to be honest the lining has been the only problem I’ve had, I try my best to avoid all the shitty roads and pothole but so far that fender lining has been the only thing to fall off on me even though I have my coils almost maxed out 👌🏻
We both had the same experience but mine was in the streets💀 front fender liner burned where it connects and it hit pot hole and pushed my bumper inwards😂
Hi. I'm thinking about getting some Tein coilovers for my 08 infiniti g37 coupe. I think it would look dope. I had a question though. By lowering your vehicle does it affect the life of your Tires?? I heard that it does.... Would love your input....
John Kuwae I got a low car with a -4 camber in the rear and -2 In the from with 0 toe all around and I can say my tires don’t look to much different tbh it hard to notice. Just get an alignment after your coilovers and have them zero out your toe cause toe will kill more then camber.
@@FitmentIndustries Dear Alex/Fitment, total rookie to any and all jdm/car scene stuff. I bought an 08 civic that came on used megan coils, would like to raise back up, and keep my 18s, (theyre nice), any recomendations for a sportier suspension thats not coilovers? This is a civic LX, could I just throw used SI suspension on? If so, are there more parts than coilovers? Ty guys, *love* your vids, growing addicted. P.s. you guys offer any suspention sporty in nature thats not coils?
Do a video on more in-depth suspension components. Not just lowering items. I’d like to see a video on roll centre adjustment, anti lift kits, adjust bushes for raised and lowered vehicles.
Lowering will bring tie rods, axles, endlinks at weird angles. Most sport cars have adjustable arms, if yours doesnt you will need other control arms for wheel alignment. Lowering changes dynamic weight movement front to rear, to low rear for example might give push after apex turn. The beauty of car suspension tuning 😋
Just adding my two cents if you're using lowering springs instead of coilovers the struts and shocks you use should be taken into consideration, twintube vs monotube.
I bought a lowered 350z after driving a old pick up truck for 5 years and let me tell you, it such a huge change. Now im scared of pot holes and curbs lol.
People commonly associate springs with "cheap" but they do have their benefits. They are especially nice if you winter drive your car. They won't seize and you don't need to deal with regularly cleaning your struts like coilovers.
stanced 7er from Romania yasss having a stanced car here it is something. the crappy roads and giant potholes can ruin even a standard car with high ground clearance. that’s why i think a lot of carguys from here just installed an airlift kit or something similar so they won’t “kill” their car
Slamming your vehicle definitely is a lifestyle. And you WILL inevitably ruin/break things over time. But I'll be damned if it isn't addicting. Stanced my first vehicle over 10 years ago and still going since. Thought it'd be a fad like altezza tails and indiglo gauges...but it's straight up heroin.
That Moist Tender Area Between My Nuts And Fartbox. Did it to my summer car, and having a blast with it. Been goin 6yrs now and all I did was swap the original front spoiler with a cheap aftermarket one. let it scrape. Other than that, I take it kinda easy so I don’t hurt it on shit roads.
And ummm #6. If your lowering your car.. Loosen Control, trailing, A arm bolts etc so bushes aren't under tension and prematurely fail... Torque them up again with suspension set at new ride height😉
#6 Move to Florida and "Stance" your ground. The roads here in Florida are beautiful and smooth like glass. So no worries. Well, everywhere I drive that is.
I don’t understand why people in videos (not real life) say “we’ll see you later.” No you won’t. You never “saw” me in the first place lol...I’ll be the one seeing you. Not the other way around. 😂
5 things you should know before lowering your car: 1- Don't, if you live in a place with crap roads. 2- Shit is going to scrape regardless of how careful you are. There's always the slightly higher than expected speebump. Don't like widebodies or cabrios but that e36 is clean! 1:04 nice to see you're getting creative with the shots lol
⠀ ⠀ I wasn't giving an order. Anyone is free to do whatever he wants with his stuff. It's based in my experience, take it with a grain of salt....or humour
Breaking stuff is all part of the fun, it makes me feel strong, when i am not actually. I started with "oh coilovers and wheels", now i have all adjustable arms and all new bushes on everything... 😂
Honestly thinking about getting some O.Z gt hlts for my mk7 gti and lowering it. I'm not big into wheels tucked into the fender, but I do love that zero wheelgap, lowered look. Trying to get the perfect fitment planned out beforehand is hard
Agreed these are the 5 things I consider. great video. I'm about to lower my car on BC coils and I know speed bumps and certain driveways will be an issue haha...
Step six: get as many adjustable componets as you need. Do some research on what your car does when you slam it in terms of wheel alignment. When I dumped my scion frs the rear went from -.5 camber and 0 toe to -3 and -5 camber and alot of toe in and alot of toe out. Because of that you’re going to want some adjustment so you can have the looks and actually drive straight
Fitment Industries well not yet, the wheels and tires i had order from fitment industries and im actually working on getting the adjusting i mentioned dialed in
True in my case with lowering an older car. I wanted to use coilovers to lower but on top of getting the coilovers I ended up having to replace mounting, tie rods/linkeage and such 🥶 My car does look cool standing still but yea driving on terrible roads is not a good experience for me haha but I knew what I signed up for. Hope it’ll last long
3:30 Those wheels caught me off guard, I wanted to hate them but then rewound the clip and loved them 😅 Super wierd wheel but I like it alot, especially in the bronze type color
I have a 97 Honda Civic Coupe that I am replacing all of the suspension components with adjustable/urethane bushings before I get my coilovers. After that I will be upgrading my brakes.
Where can I find more info on the mk7 gti at 3:30 ? Anyone know anything about that side skirt/ quarter panel set up ? What is the max size wheel and tire combo you can fit on lowering springs ?
Well my Accord, is lowered on Function and Form type one Coilovers, it was Lowered in 2016, and I drove it around lowered in 2016 for 2 months. Then stored it then took it out of storage in 2017, drove it twice last year in the Summer, then stored it again. i didn't install any camber kits, when I installed my Coilovers, but I can confirmed that it does ride like shit and so does my Corolla on Tein S Tech Lowering Springs, once you change the ride height in a car Lowering Springs, Coilovers, or Air lift Suspension it doesn't matter it will still ride like shit because the car is closer to the ground, so you feel bumps, on the road more and the stiffness, your car had when it was stock disappears. I have to drive extra careful in my Accord, because it's almost touching the ground. I can't go into certain driveways or over Speed Bumps, in plazas, cause my car is too low and it scapes but I'm ok with that I like my cars slammed.
You'd be surprised how well a lowered car can feel (I'm not talking about slammed and tires tucking) with quality parts. Form and function coilovers are crap and so are all the other $800-1600ish range of coilovers. Go KW or Ohlins coilovers and get it properly dialed in and it should ride good. Lowering springs paired with custom valved dampers such as Konis or Bilstiens can ride and perform excellent as well.
If you want to drop the front fairly extreme like 4 inches with lowering coil springs and or drop spindles, how do you deal with the issue of the tires rubbing the inner wheel wells.
What about those who don't necessarily want to "slam" their car to the ground, rather a 1" to a 1.5" drop max just to remove some of the unwanted fender gap? I have a set of KYB struts that are waiting to go in but the only problem is I can't find lowering springs anywhere that will give me the desired stance I'm looking for. And please don't say cut the springs because I don't have the equipment or the know how for that.
Fitment Industries I got some budget raceland coilovers, your video helped me see the good in them and to give them a chance and I'm not disappointed. For the price these are great. I'll be uploading my new pictures with the wheels I got from you guys onto your gallery soon
