This absolutely blows a Prado or 300 series out of the water in so many ways at half the price, incredible.
Not with that motor ,
@@tyzon00800 😅😅😅 you must be kidding. The P2 motor is very powerful. The PHEV version is even better. Furthermore, guess what the Tank 500 is nothing compaired to BYD Fangchengbao, which is way way better. Tank 500 is just a loser.
Yeh and in 5 years when it’s paid off it’ll be worth $1500 and the Prado 50 grand
@@spannaspinna won’t last 5 years
@@spannaspinna You lose more money on the Prado selling it after 5 years due to the increased new price of the car so that is a moot point.
Last June, I was in St. Petersburg (Russia) at the World Economic Forum, and I noticed that half of the escort vehicles for important people were Tank 500...
In Russia they sell this in v6 😢
Toyota Board. OK, time to discount Land Cruiser by 34k. This car is a LC killer.
Great review !!!
I want one of these Badly
Can’t wait to test drive one ASAP !
Amazing car took it for a test drive , blown away at how effortless it drives ! . Only down side i find safety wise is those auto steps when opening or closing the car is if something is caught inbetween (eg. A kids hand or feet ) it wont retract or anything it will just keep closing 😬.. hope there is an update that might prevent a bad accident .
Nice! Does it do voice command? I rented a Lynk & Co hybrid in China for a few days and the features are very similar to this car. The ride quality and handling is amazing. It's got amazing voice command system as well. Chinese car are well ahead compared to the rest of the world.
The competition in the Chinese automotive market is very fierce
Definitely be chucking in bigger tires with mags once it due for a change. Wheels looks too small for its size.
Fantastic review Byron! My bogan version of this will be out in a few days hahaha
Cheers 🍻
😂😂 can't wait to watch👌😜
Awesome review, look forward to your more in depth review when you get yours.
You looking at getting the Cannon Alpha when it arrives?
We sure will be 😜
@@SavageTechAustralia exactly what I wanted to hear, I know where I'll be getting my accessories 👌
Big car makers ought to be scared because China has been slowly taking over the car market with their competitive prices. This will be a LC killer my only gripe is the room in the 3rd row seats but I'll have to see this in person. I drove the haval H6 and it was bloody roomy. Nice review btw.
I wonder if there is a 2-2-3 configuration with the second row having captain chairs?
Can’t understand why GWM still brings HEV version (not sold or tested in China). Would there be any obstacle to sell more those mature 3.0t petrol or 2.0t Hi4T PHEV version to AU.
I don’t get it either. The PHEV version is a much more mature product given that GWM’s other subsidiary brands already have vehicles already equipped with this system. Not sure why they don’t go and just bring the Hi4T variant.
one reason, too expensive
@@liuyangyang GWM always has issue with new features, and I am worried about how many updates need to be done. Even in China Tank 300 & 500 have been OTA for serval times to solve some bugs and issues. ( there is cellular function so it could be done remotely). Typical example is that emergency line keeping is not a default On function in Chinese Version so I haven’t got any issue with that until I bought the AU version.
SB
It is not up on GWM what to sale in Australia, is the importers and dealers what want to sale in Australia
Thanks for the video
Finally a Australian walk through
Are u going to a drive video
Yes will be doing a more.in depth video definitely 😁
And a towing video too please incase you get yours before I get mine
@@jamiegauci8955 I'll be doing that💪
@@SavageTechAustralia legends I can’t wait for your accessories
How long ago did you shoot the video Because it’s surprising that you didn’t talk about the app that’s coming out for it
Byron do you know much about the Tank 300? Considering to get one (brand new, or 4-6 months newish'used) just to drive around suburbia
Yeah they are a great vehicle, if getting one get the non hybrid model in my opinion.
What happened to the rear control panel and the glass gear lever....rear power outlet. And when will the all Black interior be available. Also tye 18 in wheels and tyres look ridiculously small
This beast is gonna do some serious damage on the sales market in the segment. Nothing will get near it in tech spec and luxury
is the grill in the video the only style option that can be selected? I know in China there is a sport version grill
We specialise in parts and accessories for these vehicles. So we will have many options available.
How’s the hybrid work ,is it combine or electric back ,petrol front ?
Two electric motors, the rear has higher output than the front, combined output is over 600 horse power.
Great video. Does GWM offer those nice chrome 20 inch rims (like in most markets) even as an option. The 18 inch ones fitted look too small. I would buy one ONLY when GWM offers the 20 inch rims.
Agree, they really are undersized. Otherwise this car is stupidly impressive though, could easily be a 100k+ car.
@@jay-uo2bi I need to spent about $3000 for a set of 20 inch rims from say Bob Jane and tyres. But I am afraid GWM may void the warranty.
Will you (or anyone you know of) be testing its off road towing capabilities? Super interested in whether its power converts to coping with a hybrid van on the back.
Yes that's what we will be doing. If you watch our channel you will see our off-road testing is extreme
@@SavageTechAustraliaawesome! can't wait! We are very interested if it can manage our hybrid van!
Tell them to add quick access to turn of ELK on the Tank 300 HEV - 6-7 button press each time i jump in the thing.
ooo think i need one heh
did you buy one since ?
Bring the V6 down under!
I want one awesome car
hope its good .....
I want the plug in tank. Any one knows when will the plug in tank release to AU market?
why not a Bao5?
@@liuyangyang BYD Bao5 is actually an ev rather than a traditional car. If battery is low or battery is dead , the whole car is dead.
GWM's hi4-t is a traditional patrol engine plus a electric motor. Even there is no battery, it can still drive like a patrol car.
I prefer plug in tank. Like tank 400 hi4-t and haval raptor.
Wish gwm build a plugin version for the new haval 5, that gonna be terrific.

So kids getting in third row can only access easily from drivers/road side? Seems unsafe/annoying if road parking, hopefully doable from both sides
You can use both sides. Just one side tilts forward the other side slides forward
@@SavageTechAustraliaahhh yeah rewatched that section and see that now. Was cleaning up after the kids while listening / watching before and missed the bit after where you were sliding the passenger one around. Thanks for clarifying- can’t wait to see one in person 👌🏼
As this is large the automatic reverse parking memory is great unless you’re in a tight suburban shopping centre car park and you return to your vehicle and both cars on either side have changed, which is more normal than not. In other words it then becomes useless. Luckily the cameras look the goods. As per a lot of Chinese products it’s a bit gimmicky and I’m not anti Chinese in anyway.
Do children have to access the third row seats from the dangerous road side rather than the safer footpath side?
Yes you can access both sides but the driver's side gives you more space.
Nice specs, design is pretty outdated though, makes sense considering it came out in China several years ago.
74k drive away…what a deal…
Nice looking truck but why underpowered a little 2 litre pushing the big thing around you've got to be having a laugh 😂
What is the camera on the A pillar at the driver's side for?
Driver monitoring
Prevent drowsy driving
There is a problem with retracting side steps. Easily scratched with doors and trolleys in a carpark😂
You can control this function through the central control screen, which one can be turned off, depending on personal preference.
and 7 years warranty unlimited km
My only concern will be reliability 😢
Super reliable
Chinese fine tuning their off road systems like satellite technology...laser sharp almost perfect. Price will scare Toyota. It's a pass for the school run...
Toyota ..eat your heart out!!
Like all new cars Way too much tech and screens.. If it starts, gets me point a to point b. I'm happy.
Perfect! stick to the 70 series simple cars for simple people 👍
@@SavageTechAustralia nah mate. I'm just saying all car reviewers get all wet between the legs with the tablet and all the bshit it does. I actually like the tank range. I ain't a Toyota fan boy. Settle down. When ya on you tube don't be so aggressive with your viewers.
This has all the features you'd want in a top of the line SUV for a very reasonable price. That being said, I won't be buying one. I currently have a 21 H6 Ultra and a 23 Cannon L and I won't be buying Chinese again.
How’s both of the cars? I have a cannon L, loving it so far
H6 pros: plenty of features for the money, comfortable, quiet and spacious.
H6 cons: cruise control is unusable, dsg is average, all the usual intrusive safety aids (lka is dangerous).
Cannon pros: nice interior and features for a mid spec 4x4.
Cannon cons: stopped working after 1500km (fixed now) but had to battle with GWM and take it right to the top of the company for them to fix it along with the intrusive safety aids (not as bad as the H6 though).
No issues with yours?
@@benlangley1763 cheers mate, I’ve only put 500km on mine now, no problems yet and I hope none for another 200k+
But yeah that lane keeping assist is pretty bad, I only find it useful for the highway tbh. Other then that I turn it off
