  • In this video I build a cost effective 301cc mini bike from a used Mega Monster Moto mini bike and a brand new off the shelf predator engine.

    Watched this to see if someone finally mentioned the throttle linkage issue. You did exactly what I thought I was going to have to do with the hard link instead of the spring. I watched the spring cause so much slop. The only way it would close was to snap the throttle shut. Now my carb will actuate the way it should. Thank you!

    I went a different route than you with the throttle linkage but I followed everything you did with the torque converter and It slapped right together in under an hour thanks... considering the 40 series is an almost $200 jump in price

    Hey man, just found your channel. Really dig it! Keep the content coming! I’m in the process of building a 301 with a 30 series converter as well but I’m putting it on an off road scooter.

    You could have left the dipstick and went below it, i have the same tc, same 301. All I have to do was grind off one of the gussets on the bearing housing. All my bolt holes line up also. I was contemplating eliminating the r we dipstick as well but didn’t want to open that can of worms lol

    • @motorcylesmayhem9834
      @motorcylesmayhem9834  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad that worked for you. I considered doing that also but didn't want to grind off gussets and potentially compromise structural integrity. Thanks for posting what worked for you to give other people options.

    Cool build. I saw 41 mph on the radar. What is the real top speed? That thing has to be 50+ I would guess. Im curious because I have a Coleman BT200X with original motor but with governor zip tied / stage 1 straight pipe / air filter and 18# valve springs. With stock clutch and jack shaft it does 40 mph. 10T on clutch 52T on wheel. Just ordered torq converter for it today. Im hoping that will give me 5-10 more mph. Back to the curiosity part. I was thinking about slapping a 301 on it but if its not that big of a difference might as well go right for a 420. Thoughts anyone???

    • @motorcylesmayhem9834
      @motorcylesmayhem9834  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I thought it would be faster also but 40 is plenty on that thing with the big tires. What it lacks in speed it makes up in torque. It will do wheelies from a stand sill and pull my 220 lbs up anything. I’m sure I could put small tires on it and change gears to go faster but the fun factor is high and that’s what it’s all about. Remember these small engines produce a lot of torque and not much horsepower so you can only get so much out of them. If you want to go fast get a high reving Honda,Kawasaki,Yamaha engine out of a wrecked bike

    You should have kept the engine that the dirt bike had came with and then take it apart work on it and maybe turn it up a bit and see what you get out of it

    Nice video, I appreciate the detail as that’s my next build. I just finished a nicely built high revving stage 3 Predator 224 that’s a 60 mph+ ride with a Tork-Zilla on a modified CT200U. But I’m always looking for bigger motor builds. Thanks. Just curious, noticed your tats, are you military? If so, thanks for your service.
