Thanks for watching and commenting. If it were truly 15-18 feet in depth I don't think this method is best, unless you did what is called a "drop shot rig". There are articles about it on TroutBitten. I would use a streamer or indicator if I encountered water more than 5 feet in depth, but that is just me. Hope you can find a place to utilize. Great Budget Video. Got a question. I guess I'm confused on one part. Do you still have backing on the reel then the 30-40' of Maxima Chameleon or Maxima only to the Reel? Theres no talk of FlyLine per se. Sorry for any confusion. Thanks.

Good video! You keep saying to pinch your line with your trigger finger, your index finger is your trigger finger. You start out using your index finger on top of the rod and pinching your line with your middle finger, then through out most of the video you put your thumb on the top of the rod and pinch the line with your index, or trigger, finger. Was there a reason for this change, or is putting your thumb on top of the rod really the most comfortable and the way you naturally hold the rod while fishing? I do like the way you disect the stream and cover the water. Good progression.
Look into the soldarini shadow FF fly reel for a low price full cage reel option. 120 for a full cage, machined aluminum, 4.2oz reel with a sealed drag. Devin olson’s shop carried them

You say bring your flies down at or slightly sliwer than the pace of the current.I take it you mean slightly slower than the pace of the surface current.Another good video.Cheers
I want to bring the speed of leader, which is above the surface, to "at or slightly slower than the pace of the current". Which is essence would mean the flies are doing about the same as well, if not more. Hope that helps. Tight lines on the water!
There are a bunch of ways to connect them: Tippet Ring Blood Knot Small Perfection loop tied in UV Splice and more.... This video was going for the "simple way" and I have found this is the easiest and most overall effective for any person to master and work confidently. I would likely wager the "best" way is to do the small perfection look tied in. To each their own on how they do it though. Tight lines and thanks for watching and commenting.
It all is where the flies start behind you, or angle you cast. Ultimately, the flies follow the path you started them in on a 180 degree plain. Therefore, no matter how much you "overcompensate" where the rod finishes the flies go where you started their path to be usually.

Hey Randy! Thanks for watching and commenting. The leader is all mono for this year. However, I do have backing and fly line on. I apologize for not mentioning that. I have standard Dacron and then any brand Euro Line you prefer. I think Rio and Cortland produce good quality, but any will suffice. I will say, I like them with a perfection loop at the end, simply because you can tie ANY leader type to it, especially if you saw a blanket hatch and wanted to cast traditionally. I connect my leader to the Euro Line via a clinch knot, if there is a loop. Otherwise, you can do a UV splice, add a tippet ring to end, and even other options. What you MUST avoid is a perfection loop to perfection loop. Meaning, don't buy manufactured Euro Leaders, they SUCK! Too thick, too much memory, and come with a perfection loop. As a result, when you are drifting or casting with two loops they will get caught in the guides and you won't get a smooth cast or drift as you manage the line. I sell leaders, that I hand tie, on my website and they are very durable, delicate, and work well for this style. If you ever want one, just head on over and I ship them out all over the US. I am on vacation starting tomorrow, so check back on the 13th and you will see all the flies and leaders I use and tie. Thanks for watching and I hope my answer helped. However; still allows a customer to get a small discount on a specific item of their choice for just one purchase. It’s not uncommon practice. Troutbitten has many similar discount codes for a variety of stores nationwide.
I don’t know if there is a best way. If there is, I haven’t found it. There are simple ways; which is why I titled it the way I did. But I’m not in a position to say something is the best. I can say simple or most effective. But as always, with life and fly fishing, there’s a lot of “it depends”.

How do u change direction of your cast, like across the river. It looked like u were just casting in the same direction every cast.
