    I guess it depends in regards to growth time, I’ve had some Val for 2 weeks and it started making runners within the first week. It’s growing so fast I need to rearrange the runners before it takes over my tank lol. Thanks for the propagation tips 🫡

    • @yourtap
      @yourtap  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No problem. They will definitely take over the tank over time and when there's no more room in the substrate, they'll just start sending runners straight up. Lol

    Thanks for the shout out! I love your channel and your enthusiasm for the hobby. I'm just getting started in the hobby, and I'll be setting up a 15g Fluval Flex when I get my RO system up and running. Can't wait to cycle and get some plants in the tank. You've taken some of the fear and mystery out of aquarium plants for me so I'll have confidence heading into Petco or the LFS.

      There you are! No, thank you for following me and the kind words as well. Extremely excited for you to get started.
      Don't ever hesitate to ask me about any plants you get from those places if I haven't made a video on it yet.
      I've gone out of my way and purchased every plant out of curiosity and for fun to see for myself how and if they can thrive coming from big chain stores.
      Confidence really does help with the success.
      Let me know how things go for you with that Fluval flex.
      I can talk aquariums all day.

    I have a question that i can't find a clear answer to, if i may.
    When the leaves grow too long can you cut them to a desired height or do the leaves totally die off once cut?
    Some yes you can some say no you can't, im confused.

    • @yourtap
      @yourtap  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can cut wherever you want on the leaves. They will eventually melt away once snipped. This applies to every plant in existence.
      Plants can't heal themselves. Hope that helps 🤙

    Hey I am a new subscriber can you tell me why my val is melting and not growing

    • @yourtap
      @yourtap  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's many reasons why Val would melt. If you planted it recently. It takes Val 30 days to acclimate to new water conditions. If you've had it a long time and it's still just not working. Make sure you aren't dosing your tank with any liquid ferts that have bio available carbon in it and any chemical treatments that kill algae will also kill Val. Last thing off the top of my head could be substrate. Val are extremely heavy root feeders. If you're not using dirt or an aquarium substrate like Fluval or ADA. They'll need constant upkeep on root tabs to stay healthy.

    Hey 🐟🐠 are there any flowering floaters for relatively small tanks ?

    • @yourtap
      @yourtap  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For small tanks there isn't. All flowering floater plants stem from bulb plants that grow from the bottom to the surface.
      Those being varieties of Apontogenton, Tiger Lotus, Red Lotus etc. They are massive and usually only used in outdoor ponds.
      Unless you've got an extremely deep tank. 40 gallons or more.
      Small true floaters that don't need to be attached to gravel, unfortunately are all green leaf or red leaf floaters.
      Be that, Duck weed, Frogbit, Water lettuce etc.
      Thanks for your question!

    Can you propagate alternanthera reineckii if you can how?

    • @yourtap
      @yourtap  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can. I actually have an entire video on it. I haven't loaded it yet.
      However, I'll give you a quick rundown on how to do it.
      It doesn't propagate like your regular stem plants.
      You have to wait for it to become an adult. At some point you'll start to see a mass of roots growing from the center of it. In that mass of roots; you'll notice tiny babies. You pluck those off an plant.
      FYI, that plant grows extremely slow. It takes time and patience to get to that point.
      I appreciate your question. Welcome to the team my friend. I hope to see you in the future.

    • @yourtap
