You stated you have all these pencils because you have a TH-cam channel, well I don't have a YT channel and I still have what you have and I think more.......my kids think I'm crazy, but I'm glad I've got a hobby that relaxes me and enhances my creativity. Unlike a collection of expensive Swarovsky crystal or other knick knacks that collect dust, you cannot interact with them, you can't learn something new like you can with art. I've always loved coloring and I feel I may never stop learning from talented amazing people like you who share your craft from the heart, it connects us all in a most tender way!
Faber-Castell Goldfaber 48 set are a good set to start. The smaller the set the more you get to know your pencils! A brand name a quality pencil to begin.
I always call having the biggest set as full set syndrome. The struggle is real!

Thanks so much, Pamela. It was especially interesting to hear your take on the high end pencils. And I love that you would only need your prismas, polys, and one budget set if you didn't have a TH-cam channel. But I think you would want the Brutfuner 120 squares too. I like the idea of keeping it simple like that!
Hi Sandra, I am glad you enjoyed the video. I definitely wouldn't have all these pencil sets if I didn't have a TH-cam channel. Doing what I am doing now, it's good to have different sets to create content. It's funny how I all of a sudden started to get all these things as my channel has grown. My Inktense I would have never had if it wasn't gifted to me by a wonderful subscriber. I could definitely live with just my Prismacolors and one budget set as that's all anyone really needs. Of course, I would always want replacements for my Prismacolors.

Thank you Pamela, interesting to see your collection. I've just received my Pablos and I love them, dare I say maybe a fraction more than Prismacolour. I gradually bought all the Black Widow sets, and the more I use them I'm finding that there's very similar shades, enough to make hardly any different at all, but on your recommendation I got myself a set of Cryola pencils, and they are fabulous, yes you have to work with them a little differently, but so good 💖

Hi Terry! It's actually not that massive. I need to store a lot of my things in my walk-in closet and I have a lot of things laying on the floor because I am out of room. When you start doing TH-cam, you tend to gain a lot of things as time goes on. Most of the supplies I have, I have gained over time.

Thank you for showing all your pencils. I just take a loose leaf metal ring and put it through all the zippers for the multi zipper pencil cases. Works really well.

Glad you mentioned the Caran d'Ache Luminance Portrait Colors as they also include the often forgotten "skin color corrector" shades of lavender, pink, yellow & greens (like make-up).
Loved💖 this video from start to finish, Love your collection- also help me with my question I have also seen many get a ton of different brand pencils. But your video helps me if I see a budget-friendly pencil see if there is a group of colors that I may not find that I will like to use in my coloring pages. I'm also trying to save for a few artist brands 💰 that I really want 🧾 , but I also understand why some get budget-friendly since I also have a few but don't want to have too many which some in this community would say there's no such thing😊 Very Helpful Pamela🎨💖💖
This was a fantastic video that I just watched. I do suffer from the Full Set Syndrome. I just ordered and received the Brutfuner 120 set of Colored Pencils. I was wondering if I could get the color chart you show at the end of the video for the Brutfuner pencils. I cannot print it off my computer. I will be watching all of your videos, they are great because you are a great teacher.

May I ask, what are your personal favourites out of the polychromos or Pablo pencils ( performance wise- I’m just curious, as I have polys but tried pablos today and they feel beautiful.) And I’m incredibly sorry to ask, but which paper do you think is best for luminance pencils? I’m so confused with so many choices. I know you love the accent opaque & Springhill 80lb but in the group you also mentioned the 67(?) lb the other day when it was on special. I do like to do a bit of layering but not excessive and don’t want pencils to go blunt quickly! Everyone’s preferences are so different 😊 thank you so much again
Lovely to see all your treasure! I have an idea about all the zips on your cases, how about putting a safety pin through the tags on the zips? Also, Brutfuner vs Soucolo, I have the Brutfuner, and the Kalour. The Kalour swatch card is exactly the same as the Soucolor, pencils numbered from 1-180. The Brutfuners have six numbers above 180, but are missing 173, 174, 175, 177, 179 & 180. So just a wee bit different lol. Awesome work.

I decided to go ahead and get the 150 prisma set.. it was actually going to cost less than finishing my set out open stock even though I already had about 70. I found Amazon was offering used sets.. so I took the gamble and ordered one (it was advertised as in excellent condition) because it was $20 less.... and it came absolutely perfect.. brand new never been touched as far as I can tell. So if you are willing to take a chance and return if something bad happens look for the used ones to save some money.

I have been building my art supplies for a year now, I love art. I been trying to get back into drawing again. I have a total of 1222 colored pencils, and I'm going to buy the Kalour 240 set, I'm very impressed with those colored pencils. I just brought the shuttle art 180 colored pencils set, these are excellent colored pencils. I also have the 150 prisama color pencils set, I love them colored pencils. I also want to buy the Markart 120 set colored pencils, I was also impressed with those to.
I agree with you, I noticed that my 150 Prisama color pencils lay down fast, they are a very soft core.

I went and bought the 120 brutfuners after watching your videos. I don’t need more pencil sets but I was convinced. I paid $30.70 in total which I thought was a great deal. I can’t wait to play with them!
I'm such a heavy handed colorist... I don't see myself getting the Caran Dasche or the Pablos

Pamela, from your other video we bought Dahle 155 sharpener. My daughter and I had hard time sharpening the Crayola color pencils. We also have a small set of DOMS color pencils which was much more easier than the Crayolas. The DOMS were only $6 for 24 color pencils.
My question is, before we buy a color pencil set, which set would be easy with the Dahle 155 sharpener?
Just thinking about something...If you have large areas of the same color, you should vary the colors in it. I read that somewhere and it works.

Thank you so very, very much for making this video. I just finished organizing my pencil collection, which included deconstructing the Ruby Charms Swatch book, and printing it on better paper and only the sets I own. Then I put each set in its own case (doubling them up didn’t work for me). I passed along a few sets I did not enjoy to other colorists. I swatched each set twice, once for the book and once for the case (which I laminated). I sharpened every pencil and then made a beaded charm with the name of the set on it. I heard DeDe Willingham mention you on her stream yesterday👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I have Luminance and Lightfast, Prismacolor, Pablo, Polychromos, I’m 73 I spent all my money on my children when we were both younger so now I can treat myself I do. I have almost every set that has been on the market but these are my favourite and I have Arteza and the three Brutfuner, and a few others but like you say I’m not buying any more cheap sets, better to use and replace individual ones in the good sets
Do you ever use your black widow pencils along with your prismacolors like on the same page / same item. Those Pastel colored black widows look so lovely and would be nice to have along with the prismacolor ones I already have but I wasn't sure if people normally use their pencils together. I LOVE the Pablo full set tin trays! I like to use it for the pencils I’m currently coloring with. I propped mine up with a business card holder from the dollar tree ( had to alter it a bit so it would lay flatter and used some sticky foams to keep it steady and stuff…) but it’s easy to move all my pencils for when I have to do my grown-up stuff lol. Plus, I can use it for favorite pencils I don’t like putting away so I can always grab them. Oh, the black is amazing! It’s my favorite black of all my sets.
Oh! And I have these same pencil cases too (some sold by different companies so I just get the BTSKY ones and they are always great quality) and they are wonderful! I’m super ocd with my pencils so I used my white gel pen (the Signo Uni-Ball), and a ruler to write the names of each pencil and number under the pencils. That way I always know when I’m getting low or when one got away from me when putting away. That Signo pen can truly write on anything. The Posca’s don’t work well doing this, as they kind of soak into the surface and look dull and blurry. Other white pens are the same way. Just get the Signos. Are the portrait set pencils new Lumence colours of are they colours that already exist in the current set? I have the wooden box set.
These are all new colors.
In the UKyoure lucky if the drop to £100 and that’s a good day. Normally they sell for £120-£140, and I’ve yet to see them at a good deal on Amazon. I’m convinced that Amazon UKs idea of a bargain is to knock £2 off.
Oh boy,I’ve found a like minded friend who also loves coloured pencils....I have all of these except the Caren D’Ache n I also have the FC Albrecht Durer as well.....my grandson has told me he is going to count them all but I recon he will run out of steam long before he’s finished 😂😂😂 Thankyou for sharing,Happy Colouring n stay safe ❤️

Pablo's and the original Faber-Castell Classics work aaaamazingly in the Forest Girl books that aren't the premium version. And all my other Asian style coloring books with smoother paper.

i just subscribed to ur channel, i have that geeen ross pencil bag and i'm buying the purple roses one when i get paid ... my polychromos are still in the tin and a cheap case i had the 24 aet ans fell in love with the poly chromos then i could afford the 60 set then bought all the rest open stock at blick, and the albercht durer i'm buying the full set of the wc oencils... when i get paid they're on hold till friday

I bought that color book too at your recommendation. I love it. Its right up my alley and reminds me of myself as a young girl. I got it to get familiar with color pencils. I'm a professional watercolor portrait artist, retired. I needed something new and thought I would try pencils just for fun. I've always used graphite for drawing. But not that familiar coloring with color pencils. Shipping is free with Dick Blick at around $69.00. I have Pablos, and they are not that expensive when you consider that they last longer.

Great vid. Gave ya a like. I have approx 800 Prismaolor Premier pencils, they are still my favourite pencils. I think it's cool that you earned those Caran d'Ache pencils. The blenders are amazing, I have 12 of them. Other than that, I think I own approx 2500 pencils in total with all brands that I have.

I'm late to this party... but I'm just looking at people's collections trying to figure out if I'm missing anything. So far, looks like Holbein is the only nicer artist pencil I don't have. I love your laugh by the way...very infectious!
This was a heckuva lot of work, and helped some make some decisions. Thanks so much for this. I can now just refer to this when I have uncertainty about buying a new set. I have so many sets, more than I'll ever need, and yet it is nowhere near to what you have. But, I don't have a TH-cam channel :-D My favorites are still the Black Widow sets, probably because I had such a bad experience with Prismacolor Premier Pencils. They did not do right by me or anything like it, so I haven't been able to use them. Black Widows are my faves anyway, and I still love Crayola :-)

The Pablos work really well in the Forest Girl book.
I’m new to colored pencils. Can you tell me why you would need to sharpen the pencils when you first get them? I swatched a few sets and didn’t sharpen them first. Thanks for your great videos!
When your pencils come to you they have a wax protectant film over the lights of the pencils. I always like to sharpen them to remove it. This way when the pigment will you sit down onto the paper, it is much smoother.

I got a faulty set of Arteza pencils, but they refunded me. They dissolve in water and some don't perform well (violets and blues)

Pamela, should I invest in the 150 set of prisma premiers or just get another 120 of Brutfuner squares
Michelle, that would depend on what you can afford. If you can afford the Prismacolor, I would go with those. If you're looking for budget pencils then I would go with the 120 Brutfuners.
@@PamelasPassionforPencils I went with the big set of prismas. I got them for 95 dollars. My splurge. I can't wait to see all the pretty colors. My oldest son just bought me the 120 set of Arteza. I had a 72 set, but I love more color choices. Thank you.

Are usually wait until they drop at around $88. Sometimes they fluctuate between $85 and $88. That’s usually when I try to grab them. Sometimes around Black Friday they will drop drastically and it’s a great time to grab a set.

I have to remember that the Australian dollar is almost twice the American dollar, iv confused myself so many times then been so shocked when I saw how much came out of my account.. however having said that I have gradually bought so many pencils including the higher priced ones 🥰🥰🥰😊

I'm curious what you do with all your colored pages. Do you frame them or what?
If they're in a coloring book, I leave them there. If they're from a PDF, I put them into a clear cover and store them in a binder.

Ana, I would go with the full set of Prismacolor first. You would get 150 pencils and have a much bigger color selection. Then get the Luminance when you save up for it.

This is definitely what it looks like to me. Her arm would most likely not be that straight in the drawing. It looks as though it’s supposed to be a sleeve. I was going to go online and see how others have colored it. I think most assume that it is her arm. Thank you so much for the wonderful compliment. My oldest grandson will be 10 in May. I did have my daughter when I was only 18 years old and she had her son when she was only 17. That makes for a pretty on grandma. She made me a grandma in my mid 30s. I absolutely love it though and wouldn’t change it for anything. 💕
i can't find where you could get a free sample from derwent on their website. but I loved this video.
They used to have it. I know because I got one free Derwent Lightfast. I am not sure if they still currently do this. This is an older video.

i'm lucky enough to have brick and mortar stores so close jerrys artarama , blick, RISD art school store and brown university store , also in worcester ma is the oldest art store in the country , i blend my pencils with an alcohol markers blender i like the look or odorless mineral spirits i like equally i bought the prisma color ones i did t care foe they made my swatches shiny o do t care for that i prefer matte

Never! I really just meant I am enjoying a much more right at the moment. I always go back to my Prismacolor no matter what pencil I am currently using. I am just really enjoying these pencils right now.

I’ve just added about 10 colours and a handful of verithins to my 72 set Prismacolor set for my daughter, she has 6 months to let me see she is using them and taking care of them then I’ll even the buy myself my own new set or take them back lol. I think I’m going to buy the brutfuners though to try out the oilier base and because I’m already regretting my decision to share for 6 months lol.
I love all my pencil sets. My favourite high end pencil set is the Pablos and my portrait set of Luminance pencils. Working on building up my Luminance set.
I found the origional Black Widow first set to be of poor quality. Since then I have bought the Scorpion, Cobra and the Monarch, and these are of much better quality. Besides my Tombow Irojiten full 90 set, these are the most unique set I have seen.
