I showed this sketch to my kids. My youngest didn’t get it, and was kinda rude about it. As punishment for his rudeness, he was sent off to war. My oldest on the other hand, got a good laugh out of it. As a reward, I booked him a free getaway to war. My wife enjoyed the sketch but when she found out I sent the kids to war, she became quite hysterical. But that’s nothing a quick bout of war won’t fix.
I've always considered Aunty Donna to be a modern Monty Python anyways. Out of any sketch group I'm aware of currently active, they most embody the spirit.
@@obiwanda They've definitely took up MP's penchant for absurd and meta humour and ran with it. The first time I saw them I remember thinking if the MP gang is watching them thinking "well done, kids, well done."
It appears 2 people have disliked this video. And of course the punishment for disliking a video is being sent off to war. There they go, off to join 5th airborne regiment on the eastern front.
Extra! Extra! TH-cam has brought world peace with the removal of the dislike button. What will be TH-cam's reward? A small getaway to war, as is tradition
So, the match is supposed to take place in 1907, but the batalion the players are sent to won't exist until 1915 in the first world war. Of course, the punishment for historical inaccuracy is being sent to war
“If I had a nickel for every time a cast member of “The Boys” appeared in Aunty Donna’s Big Ol’ House of fun, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice, right?”
Jack Quaid (Hughie) is a fan of Aunty Donna, and both Him and Antony Starr (Homelander) got a part in this show. Antony Starr wasn't in this segment tho, he was the Stray Man
They likely are, but this sketch is straight up in the style of Monty Python. It’s very similar to such sketches as “Philosophers Football” and “Upper Class Twit Of The Year”.
Damn, East India got all that money from trading with the world and they still can't make a basket and ball team that doesn't get completely shut out in the final, for shame!

That is true

Great comment! You took the joke from the video and then applied it to your story! Powerful stuff.
This comment is so good we’re sending you all expenses paid to war!

A great Aunty Donna flavoured take on a classic Monty Python sketch 👌
Graham Chapman is chuckling in heaven
No wonder this skit looked so familiar
Philosophers football is such a gem

I can't believe they got both homelander and Hughie on the show
Apparently they’re huge fans of the channel and reference it on set
Just noticed both of them in last 10 mins.. Hughie here and stray man!
Jack Quaid is a good bloke. The Red Letter Media episode with him is great
This sketch is perfect. Not an ounce of fat. Everything is perfect and it ends before you get tired of it. Just perfect.
of course the makers of such a great have a celebratory trip to war
I can't get enough of watching them wave to the camera during the roast
It looks so much like the actual older footage of such situations. Really spot on.
this made me laugh the hardest out of the whole season. Nailed it.

Some of my best memories are when me and the boys would huddle around for a single slice of orange.
Ah yes nothing better than huddling round for a slice of orrrrrnnngge
this is one of my favorite aunty donna sketches of all time man
"This shot put sure is heavy, I hope it doesn't hit anyone..." 😂😂😂😂
I was watching this on my way to have a good spot of war, good fun.
Man I can't belive this classic 1907 basketball match predicted the Internet and Gatorade.
Ikr

This sketch is ten times funnier imagining those two just stood in France in a field looking lost cuz it's 1907
Best representation of Canadian basketball.... ever
Nothing a quick bout of war can't fix
CHARGE
gotta love a nice slice of orrnge
Sorry, don't have time to watch this I gotta go to war.
I love the Franz Ferdinand bait
This is so Monty Python coded
He’s just one of the boys.

when he started naming the foods it sounded like the most early 20th century thing ever
Oh shit that's Jack Quaid
Wait really?!
"he's just one of the boys!"
@@dlobelow760 yep Erin Moriarty posted about it on her Instagram
Worth checking his RLM ep too- top bloke!
I remember when I saw this game live There was an uproar when The woman stole the ball
I've been looking for this for ages
Fucking love the Sasquatch Comedy x Aunty Donna team up
One of the most Pythonny non-Python sketches to ever exist!
Goddamn, I love these peaches!
I'm actually related to Dr.James Nasmith, Inventor of Basketball. No money, but still interesting.
What the hell is Hughie doing there?
Homelander is the reason, who also played The Stray Man in the show.
@@zeandiaz1791 or vice versa. Quaid is a big comedy fan.
Jolly good game, sports!
Ah the boys having a ball, nothing but a bunch of lads, no mischevious activities here, what jolly ol times before the invention of compound V
Ik im late but is the ref Hughie from The Boys??
Oh for a slice of awrnge...
It seems they were using a magic ball that re-spawns after a woman steals it
Loled hard at " oh no he has shellschock"
Why is he from The boys at 1:13

looks like him for sure!
can't believe that's hughie from the boys
How did i not notice jack quaid in this sketch??? these dudes got the entire boys cast wth
This was made before the boys
Starring Jack Quaid, star of Oppenheimer
This sketch reminds me a lot of Horrible Histories lol
I love boiled neeps and gatorade.
I don’t know how, but they managed to get two actors from The Boys. Jack Quaid and Antony Star.
I thought it was just ,my imagination. 😂
Sorry, can't finish this comment. I have to go to war
Go make the queen proud!!
the funniest part is that wwi wasnt for another 7 years
Funny asf come to nz
Wait, why is George 'The Giant' Winters in the loser team at the end of the video?
Wait, is that Jack Quaid from The Boys??
A Monty Python sketch
Love a good roast Marten of a Sunday
Hughie from the boys is there
This gave me monty python feels.
I walways wonder if Aunty Donna were inspired by Tim And Eric at some point, aburdist to the max..

Off to the Western front... in 1907 lol.
Is that jack Quaid or am I blind
The most accurate part is Livenation.
This is very similar to Monty Python's philosophy football sketch
THAT'S JACK QUAID
Is that fuckin jack quaid???
The war of 1907?
This is exactly like Harry Enfields Mr chomondley Warner football sketch check it out if you like this
Exactly, I was thinking it must have been inspired by that.

No
You will be.
You're welcome! :)
1907 yet the narrator is making WW1 references? Lol. They should have set the time anywhere between 1914 and 1918.
Yeah, this comedy sketch is just too historically inaccurate for me.
I can't believe this sketch where a group of people have a roast in the middle of a basket and ball match is historically inaccurate
And how dare they use modern day Gatorade bottles in a comedy sketch set in 1907!! Disgraceful!
