September 12th, 2017 -- For my 113th outing of this year, I explored and fished the Ridley Creek in Media, Delaware County, PA. It was my first time down there, and at my fan's request, I decided to give it a shot.
The plan for the day was to wade and swing my worm + Johnson Min-O-Spin for whatever bites! And folks...we ended up with a nice batch of different Species, eh!? 11 Species in one day -- all within a 2 mile stretch of the Creek.
Don't forget to participate in the give-away! To do so:

That scene of you getting schooled by the darters is now the best fishing scene on youtube. This is why I love your channel man. You absolutely owned that creek. Between this and your last creek video, I think the moral of the story is explore, explore, explore. even after almost 40 minutes I was sad to see this one come to an end. What an amazing video, day and fishermen.

I just got to thank you Leo! I havent fished in 4 years since I moved to Seattle. Went from fisherman to wisherman...
Since watching your vids, I got my poles and tackle out of the closet, cleaned em up and took them out to my friends boat at the local marina. Had to use a cheap ass rod with my Pfleuger because my good ones need repair but i wasnt worried about catching a monster anyways. First freakin cast I had a 10 inch Pacific Sanddab. Didn't keep it, don't eat out of the Puget Sound in town here. It released nice I was just wetting lines for fun and i got a new species for me. I never caught a flatfish before! Got skunked after that tho. Lol. Only fished for an hour cause I needed to buy more bait, hooks and fix my good rods. Saw 10 or more different species of microfish I'm going after next time too. Going to a local lake for freshwater tommorow to check it out too. Its cool having salt and fresh within minutes of where i live. Literally ten minutes one direction and five the other. I cant belive I haven't gone till now.
You inspired me more than any other youtuber...i yelled "fish on!" in your accent as a tribute as it was happening. Haha..my wife thought I was crazy.

those first bass you thought were probably spotted bass definitely were. they had the tooth patch, the mouth doesn't go past the eye, and the juvenile spotted bass have orange tails, which yours also did have.

Caught two trout in that dam at the end of your video just this past Saturday September 16th. Oh and we found a way to get to that dam by climbing down the bridge using a tree as support but other than that you either need to use waders or have access to one of those locations that are private property. Thanks for showing this location I always love exploring all the creeks around Philly.

I grew up on Ridley Creek at the end of East Knowlton Road. If you get off the SEPTA train at Moylan - Rose Valley (one stop before Media), walk down the hill on Manchester Road, maybe 1/2 - 3/4 miles. There is a bridge there. Below the bridge are quite a few rapids and then the creek gets slow and wider. Be especially concerned about the mud below the bridge, it is almost like quick sand.
PA used to stock the creek with trout in the spring, mostly Rainbow and a few Brownies, 2 - 4 weeks before the season. I doubt that they do this anymore. This was before the creation of Ridley Creek State Park. Night crawlers, Salmon eggs, Velveeta Cheese balls and Wonder Bread balls would catch those trout rascals until the water warmed up from the summertime heat.
There weren't too many pan fish below the dam in Media (Rt 1 - Baltimore Pike). We would go there (to the dam) to catch pan fish (multiple species). Below the dam, where I grew up, there were few pan fish. Usually the run was Trout in the spring, Suckers in the summer, Eels when the water was high and dirty like creamed coffee and an occasional Creek Chub.
The next time you go to Ridley Creek, check out the semi-lower portion. You will probably get 5 - 6 different species.
I enjoy your videos. Keep it up.

Do you know how to do fish cpr leo? It would definitely help you with reviving fish so they dont go belly up on you. And this is a tip for everyone who doesn't already know: grab the fish by the tail and Move the fish in an S-shaped pattern to run water through its
gills. I've have 100% success rate of reviving with 8 years of fishing

Hey bud, I must say that one of the main reasons why I watch this channel is because of your Asian accent! It is hilarious dude! Not making fun or anything man. I just find it comical and speaking of comedy, if you were funnier like you were in this video that would definitely be awesome! Your really great at fishing and I wish that I’ve had a fraction of the opportunity that you have to go fishing. I also enjoy the way you do your “species assessment” of each body of water that you encounter. Although I enjoy watching you catch the smaller fish... it would be nice if you caught bigger species like larger catfish striper, flounder, tuna, mahi-mahi and snakehead.... possibly a sheepshead? Yeah you may need to leave philly to do this but it would be pretty cool. Also, would you ever entertain a catch and cook rather than catch and release? Please let me know. I’m also curious why you switched from shimano to Kast King? Are you sponsored by them? How are their rods and reels and do you purchase them at any “big box” stores? I know that I have a ton of questions but I’ve only watched about 10-15 of your episodes on your channel but these questions have been really intriguing me recently. Sorry for the long comment but I had so many questions about your channel and the history of EPF. Thanks man, I hope to hear from you soon! Keep those lines tight brother!!

I know I'm late to the party but I'm 99% positive the bass you caught before the railroad bridge (30:56) is a spotted bass. The spots on the side are equal in size. On a large mouth they alternate taller and shorter.

Love your stuff Leo! Multi-Species is the best. I cant afford much in the way of gear but I go fishing whenever I can. If you ever get the chance you should come fishing in Manitoba some time. Huge cats in the South and huge Pike/Trout up North. Also if you like Walleye fishing we have plenty trophy size Walleye. Not my thing but people here love em.

I got my 1st golden there back in like 1994. Above the falls on Baltimore. I take my boat up chester ridley crum darby from the Delaware now allot. The mouths of those streams are awesome in spring. In darby creek up by where Cobbs comes in I caught a 32in muskie this year. So I looked into stocking. The actually put muskie in darby creek below the trout areas in the late 90s and early 00s. I think it was only like 1000 total

Great video. I've been fishing Ridley Creek for a while. Upstream from where your video ended (other side of the bridge and beyond), you can also find very large common carp, rock bass, and bigger largemouth bass. I've pulled two or three largemouth bass that were 15-16", 2lbs from there.

i find PA really boring but i think you can help with that. great vids. i appreciate the little fish like this as well.
i grew up in a neighborhood that had an old lake, suburb of buffalo NY. it was rarely fished. as a kid the biggest we caught was maybe 2 lbs. one day i heard and saw a huge splash. i casted my buzzbait like 50 times until it finally hit. it was a 6 or 8 lb bass. for us that was mindblowing.
after i caught that one, we suddenly started catching the big boys. it wasn't that often but we figured out what they liked. topwater frogs.
there was another small lake about a mile away. also rarely fished and was posted but we were sneaky. the bass weren't big but they would bite your buzzbait as soon as it hit the water. you could catch 20 bass in 10 minutes, no joke. there were sunfish so big you could barely put your hand around them. i called them pounders. they liked poppers.

Largemouth, redbreast sunfish, pumpkin seed, for fish, bluegill, swallowtail Shiner, Spottail Shiner, cultips minnow, comely shiner, common shiner, and darter tessellate. Hey extreme philly fishing, I live is Portsaintlucie Florida, but I was born in Erie Pennsylvania! I fished the French creek a lot for small mouth. I really miss smallmouth, I wish they were in Florida! I recently moved here last year in august! We had to drive 18 hours 😩, but I also love Florida! I'm going back to Erie in January! Maybe one day when I'm older I could meet you! Have a great day 👍🏼
