My only guess is that Carter is a beast on defense, and Sheppard is just a good defender. Sheppard is clearly a better shooter,especially from 3pt range.
Yeah I would be happy with Edey he has that chip on his shoulder where he wants to prove his doubters wrong. Nothing wrong with that. I'd rather Edey than Clingan, but either would be be great. We just really need a big.
I definitely dont think we should trade the one win now move we've made recently in Marcus Smart. He could be valuable in helping develop Vince for long term success and establishing a more mature and playoff caliber culture. We should be open to trading Zaire, Laravia, Konchar and maybe Santi. I really hate to part with Luke but even him if necessary for cap space. As far as the draft @ 9 im only okay with Clingan, Knecht, or Carter. And pick up a backup caliber big later in the draft like Quenten Post if Clingan isnt available considering we need a 7 footer. If not any of those three trade back and go for Edey and get a knockdown shooter later like Sheierman or my personal favorite Pelle Larson.
Trading up for Clingan is a disaster draft in my opinion. I watched him get abused by Edey in the national championship. Imagine what NBA centers are going to do to him. Give me Ron Holland or Dalton Knect at 9 then get back in the first round somehow and take your center.
Edey's game at the college level, with a lot of post play, is not what the NBA game is. Clingan brings more of what NBA bigs are asked to do as a passer/defender than Edey. Edey being able to dominate Clingan on the block means next to nothing to me because very few NBA offenses operate that way anymore - Memphis certainly does not. - JM

that's why the Grizzlies need two centers. One more traditional center to give J3 his room (like Adams) and a second center who plays more mid range and perimeter, so Clarke can have his lane space.
NBA draft is not the place to look for starting center positions. Name a good center drafted top 5 in the last 5 years - none since Embid. I see Mitchell Robinson fits our squad but we have to draft Dalton Kinecht
Wemby is gonna end up being a center when all is said and done. I feel your point though, unless they're elite you shouldn't be drafting a center this high in the draft. I would prefer they trade down.

Clingan gets the praise because of his supporting cast at UCon. Edey is more skilled offensively and can hold his own on defense.

The proposal I saw was Smart another player plus our 9th round pick. Just to move up. Stupid, Clignan is not a sure fire all star.
