The nostalgia is killing me... entering the painting to save its creator, exploring the vast woods and the glorious fields, swimming to the isle where the DLC started... Best. Atmosphere. Ever.
We need more games like this, games where they are truly what gamers want, we want this game and its soundtrack remastered and for next gen. What would be nice is if they added like a 4 player co-op where you could free-roam the entire space of Cyrodiil. Games that are only 1 player are dying, and if that happens, all games die with. Bethesda has been working on something hidden and great, and gods let it be a remastered next gen oblivion
And for a game 7 years old, it is the best in its series, best game by Bethesda! This is what made Bethesda great, this is the symbol of success, now they have to remaster it for Next Gen, or else I believe Bethesda may be starting to be destroyed....and if that happens, we all fade into darkness, long live Jeremy Soule
AJBxxSlayer Have you played ESO? I feel the multiplayer version of the ES universe just doesn't click like a single player mode does. Also, do you want Elder Scrolls to end up like another Borderlands? Consider this travesty: A four player free roam online RPG with pointless radiant tasks and a weak story and taking away the magic of Elder Scrolls. I'm all for a rebooted Oblivion, though. Can agree with you 100 on that.
When I first played Oblivion it was the first time I had ever played a game like that. Advanced graphics, open world rpg, with all the freedom! I was immediately in love.. I lost myself inside the game for hours and hours for weeks. No game has ever done the same.
Absolutely divine. No game compares to this for me personally in terms of atmosphere and emotional connection. The soundtrack fills my visual field with wonderful images and memories of the beautifully colourful fields and quaint little shops. Just amazing.
Exactly. I think it's the music and the feeling of being in the game, inside the Oblivion atmosphere, which makes you feel great in a way that no other game can accomplish.
It was Jeremy Soule's near death experience that made him realise how beautiful life is and he put his heart and soul (no pun intended) into this soundtrack to show the beauty of life.
The last defender of the Endar Spire Oblivion didn't quite hit the spot with everything. Remember that ridiculous 'the world levels up with you' approach? I mean what's the point in progressing to glass weapons if suddenly every single bandit also has glass weapons? Skyrim didn't do that much better, really. It did lock most bandits to leather type armours which was nice, but still. Morrowind's leveled areas were best. That said though, yeah. Oblivion felt full. It had long faction quest lines (Skyrim's 'ooh let's get the rookie to undertake the most important job ever because reasons!' approach was dumb) quest variety (not as much as Morrowind but more so than Skyrim) and well, yeah. It felt like a fuller world. I miss Oblivion.
This game showed me the real deal behind "You just lost yourself in the game" in my worst life moments i played this game and it really powered me up. This game wipes out all the stress and depression and makes you a whole!
I remember walking the star-filled nights of Cyrodill wandering alone, finding my own path with Auriel's Ascension playing a beautiful melody to my ears. ohh the memories, why cant we just go back to the good ol days? oh well Elder Scrolls has come a long way and i cant wait to see more. ill always love you Oblivion, and i plan to mod the hell out of you when i build a PC next year. But the first memories on my PS3 will never be forgotten.
one of the major reasons that oblivion is my favorite elder scrolls game is that it's set in this whimsical and vibrant world, but it's been plagued by evil. jeremy soule's music emulates that.. my favorite of his soundtracks are morrowind, oblivion, and guild wars 1
Indeed, he is one of my favs too :) Thanks for the reminder, that I wanted to gather and upload all the Morrowind OST tracks, they sure are missing on my channel...
Same, I feel this incredible sense of peace and almost lucid understanding of the world when I play oblivion. It is truly magical to me. My favorite game of all time. I honestly feel good in my heart when I play oblivion and truly immerse myself in the gameworld. peace
Something about oblvion was so much more enchanting to me than all the other elder scrolls games. I always felt at peace when I played this game and when I hear this music. It bring tears to my eyes.
Long live Oblivion, it will never rest in darkness, it is the light of glory, the best in the world, games like this are legends, but dying, that must not happen, or else our gaming future will fall
The atmosphere of oblivion, is so very peaceful. As I wondered the woods of Cyrodiil with nothing but the atmospshere as my companion, I grew to truely respect it as more than just music.
Forever in true love with Elder Scrolls 4. All the music, landscapes and emotions will remain with me till my dying day. Thank you Bethesda and Jeremy!
I agree 100% I think it's the music and the feeling of being in the game, inside the Oblivion atmosphere, which makes you feel great in a way that no other game can accomplish.
Aww, man, I will never forget the first time I played Oblivion. There's was just so much adventure and discovery each I played. And the atmosphere and music just make it all the more memorable and real. I love this game and wish I could play it for the first time again.
The transition at 15:44 is... truly magical... It feels like it sends you through a portal to a fantasy world that gave you a sense of peace and closure. It's nearly indescribable.
Now, eleven years after it's release, I still play it more often than any other elder scrolls. I just can't describe what I felt with this game when I first played it. I only came to fully understand such feeling when I was first introduced to the concept of a game being a work of art. To whomever disagrees with such statement I would gladly show this game as one standing evidence of such, among many others. I guess we can all wait for the 6th now, way into 2020s.
0:52 The guy who made Oblivion's music wanted to make music that reflected the beauty of life after almost dying in a car wreck and goddam if you can't feel that love and beauty in Oblivion's ost
Music that not only incites so much nostalgia, but also takes me back a simpler time, a simpler life, when things were easier. I'm sure so many of us can relate, and although we can never go back such times, this sure makes us forget about everything else, and just relive old, fond memories... :)
Beautiful. As I listen, I'm transported back to 2007, spending hour after hour in this world. Even now, it completely relaxes me and brings a smile to my face.
Skyrim was good in many regards, but Oblivion had more atmosphere than possibly any future TES game ever will. I sadly have yet to play Morrowind but intend to once more free time allows it. I can't help but feel that I was also fall in love with Morrowind's lore and lose myself within its world, like Oblivion had done to me so long ago. *tears*
emart imo oblivion was the best ES. I have played it recently to try and capture the initial feelings and emotions I had for the game, while the nostalgia is there, it's nothing like learning to play an open world game for the first time. Especially a masterpiece such as Oblivion.
emart They are all great games. Skyrim lacks a lot but it's still good. Morrowind has been my favorite for about 13 years now but Oblivion is right there as the runner up.
+emart Well for me its like this Skyrim = best game mechanics and grpahics Oblivion = best overall experience and has a real relax feeling to it. Morrowind = best nostalgia game and has the most passion in it and the best quest line, and stories and side missions.(but is not holding your hand as much as the other 2)
Not as docile or enchanting as Skyrim Atmospheres, but most definitely much more melancholy. This amplified what was going through my head when I lost a close relative last November, and it would have easily fit at her funeral. Respect for composing this to Jeremey Soule, respect for uploading this to Aramil.
For me it was 14:34 ...i just started to burst out in tears and felt really sad, even to the game is not gone and i can play it at anytime ( i have the physical copy 3 times and the steam version since this year) I guess its because i can never experience this game for the first time again. Just hearing any of the tracks instantly pops back images of me (my character) strolling through cyrodiil, doing dark brotherhood quests and many many other things.
Thanks to those type of tracks I passed my studies...I was dead tired after job and listening to Jeremy Saul music because it was not only Oblivion songs I managed to somehow reset my mind and read a book and prepare for the exam...
Oblivion has such a special place in my heart. It will always be the best game for me. And the music is just so emotive and gorgeous and beautiful. It really takes you away... to Cyrodiil ^^
This is why I love Oblivion's soundtrack; all the tracks conjure up very fond memories. For instance, I remember hearing Auriels Ascent for the first time whilst wandering through the great forest on a sunny day, and Minstrels Lament whilst looking out into the the Acbecan sea from Blackwater rainforest. Whilst I'm not slagging off Skyrim's soundtrack in anyway, as it is equally as beautiful (particularly Skyrim atmospheres) there were just no tracks to rival those mentioned above, although I really did like the ambiance of Skrim Atmosphere's but they're more ambient that actual tracks with structure.
This music is literally helping me through my recent panic attacks. Helping me able to breathe again. I always loved Oblivion the most out of the series but knowing this music can heal is mind blowing.
I wish I could go back and relive the first time I played Oblivion. Sure, the game was rough around the edges, but It was my first 'open-world' RPG and I must have spent untold hours just wandering aimlessly through the woods and ruins with his harmonic music as my only companion.
The thing about Jeremy Soule and Jesper Kyd is that while most people would consider them to be composers for video game music, the truth is that they are both gifted composers of what would typically be called classical music if it wasn't on the score for a video game. Much of what those two men do would stand very nicely when compared to Beethoven or Stravinsky in terms of depth, complexity, and spirit.
Agreed, but video games are a form of art, but like animation most fail to recognise them as such. However, we should be content that at least we understand this truth.
Yeah you've got a good point , I love the way Jeremy soul made his music feel like it was right for certain places and times in the games that on top of creating such beautiful music makes me appreciate it even more
If the only game I played in the last 10 years was Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, I would be perfectly satisfied. This soundtrack is Jeremy Soule's masterpiece. Absolutely magnificent.
Wonderful post. I love the soundtrack to Oblivion and Skyrim so much. I don't think I could ever get tired of hearing it, makes me feel at peace with myself!
While playing Oblivion I always had a warm feeling inside me. I enjoyed the game so much, i couldn't stop playing. Skyrim was also one of my best gaming experiences ever. But the warm feeling is missing. In Skyrim I always felt a bit alone, i always felt in danger. There was no warm feeling. But still, both games are AWESOME.
I can totally relate :) Warm feeling all the way! But that was the intention of the producers. Skyrim is a land with much harsher atmosphere and the gameplay was during the tougher times. Cyrodill was safer place with milder climate and there was always sunny, you could see the colours. But both the games complement each other! I think it's good for the story and dragon fighting that Skyrim is more savage place. It provides the epic feeling in my opinion !
I gotta say that warm feeling was there for me in Skyrim only I felt it a little more with my mind than I did with my heart. Unless I was in a dwemer ruin or a particularly good quest
Yes man, I totally agree. I really love Oblivion. Sometimes, when I was playing, I really felt like being home. Sounds too geek, but the game always make me feel really comfortable.
There is one comment on this video marked as spam by TH-cam that is clearly no spam and the comment section settings won't allow me, the uploader, to change that. Way to go Google+ freedom of speech my ass! I am sorry, for the user, if I can fix it, I will!
that's the comment: FallenSkormvor 1 Jahr @BreakfastSkippa tes games take years to make. bethesda is a fine example of what a game developer should be. not like activision where they realase copies every year ( cod)
It may just be nostalgia talking, but Oblivion's soundtrack always hits the spot for me. Same with the Guild Wars soundtrack. Jeremy Soule is a legend.
This is what i mean when i talk to my friends or to my family about how passionate a gamer can be about his favorite game and why its not somethinhg to be ashamed of. Games are like books, for a moment ur not in the hell hole we are always in but we are in this random world having a different life and feeling differently. For me Oblivion is a game i can come back to just to feel good again, it's a therapy for me just to go walk trough the woods along the imperial city. just walk look at the smooth water graphics and the sunshine glaring trough the woods hitting the ground where i just happend to see that nice patch of flowers. All the small things i take for granted i take in with my hearth when i play morrowind, oblivon or skyrim. It's just a world on its own. What i try to say here is, games like Oblivion comfort me and also make me feel different when im playing it. the little things make the game unique every single time. I'm not much of a book reader, but i dont need it because games tell jsut as much and give you more to go with. Games like this and other open world rpgs are jsut worlds of art.
I get such an amazing feeling from listening to this, takes me back to my first play of Oblivion, when everything in the game was just beauty and wonder
Lord thruxawe i completely agree! With everything you said! Especially the part about skyrim not capturing what oblivion had to offer, it is hard to explain, i know i can't explain it! But i agree
Great score to a great game, Elder Scrolls for life. Through the Valleys,Minstrel's Lament, and Wings of Kynareth are my absolute favorite; they're so calm and epic.
Different, not better, in my opinion. Oblivion looks and feels magical (maybe thats just my nostalgia talking), while Skyrim on the other hand was a harsh and unforgiving land. The music reflects that. Don't get me wrong, I love both, but I believe the soundtrack did both themes justice.
Jewel45615 The other big thing differentiating the two soundtracks was the melodic style chosen between them. This is a soundtrack that has music with true, memorable melodies that define each track. This is something I can easily hum along to. Now, with the exception of the battle music, intro music, etc in Skyrim (Basically any of the "Epic" music) Try to do the same thing. Skyrim's soundtrack aside from the large pieces is an Atmosphere, not as much a musical soundtrack. And don't take that as a bad thing. For immersion, it's easily one of the greatest things you can do for a soundtrack, and is a HUGE difference
Tevin Orozco I can actually mention quite a few that I regularly listen to now, but I agree, not as memorable as Oblivion. Skyrim was very immersive and the music was helpful in that endeavour. Thanks for the nice comment, a refreshing change on this website. :)
You mean by having 5 years on advanced technology, Skyrim was never in any way better, other than graphics, that was because 2010-2012 was a period of time where games had graphics as good as today's, and they are old still!
Skyrim certainly had the graphics going for it... then again so did Oblivion. But I remember seeing the sky in Skyrim, the massive clouds.. then the bright star lit sky... wow.
AlchemistOfNirnroot Well, Skyrim was released in 2011 so it can be expected to look outdated, but Skyrim is one of the best games graphically if you install graphical enhancement mods such as an ENB (I recommend Realvision) and various texture enhancing modifications such as 4K parallax tree textures.
Imagine if you will.. a world with social networking full of sociable people. Friendly and helpful, No arguments, no insults. A place where man goes to enjoy himself, such is a place in the twilight zone.
oblivion is definitely more cheerful. skyrim is more dark and grey themed. the west weald is full of goblin holes but the wine. skyrim seems more wild due to the nords and the harsh land itself but cyrodiil is much more peaceful where the citizens lived sheltered behind their big city walls. the grass is greener, the weather is warmer. but there are ... dark places, so let's not fool ourselves when we walk down the yellow road or through the beautiful forests and the ruins.
***** what, you killed him in Bravil? Not that messed up. No more so than you killing everyone else on the hand. What happened to Lucien? That was harsh. Lucien was a speaker though, not the listener.
I was so happy when I found the unicorn in Oblivion! I did a lot of skooma and that creature was the fastest thing on Nirn. It died from a small hill. Sucks that Skyrim doesn't have a Unicorn... only a mod. Arvak is pretty awesome though...
You know if i you ever play that game and add some of the beautiful landscape mods that exist out there you can find that combination of astonishing scenery and music one of a kind. It's exactly what makes TES series so unique and beloved
I'll miss you, Elder Scrolls and Bethesda. Sure, they're still around but...the magic is gone. The last time I felt it was in the Shivering Isles expansion to Oblivion, and it was the strongest in Morrowind. Now...I don't know what to think anymore. Once I graduate this year, I think I'll retreat away to my room and play Arena to Oblivion again and reevaluate my life.
I loved oblivion for its atmosphere, but sometimes I felt I had to escape cyrodill as due to the basic AI and limited player interaction, I often found myself feeling very much alone. Shivering Isle was a small escape, until I once again longed for the green planes, when I put oblivion down for a long period, it was because of that feeling of isolation eg the player homes were empty, they helped work on this in skyrim, but in ES6 I want to see the protagonist as more of a character in the world with more realistic talking AI, eg, developing conversation trees like 'rumours', Sorry it's late and I'm trying to sleep to this music) 😂
+Tim H -- I can definitely relate to that. There's a mod at least in Skyrim that adds ... like, very, very incredibly immersive people to the world and truly interesting conversations that you can either listen to or engage to. I think the mod was called "Interesting NPCs" or something like that. If you like to play Skyrim, I definitely suggest you get this. I think you can activate it half-game, so you don't need a new save file for it to work. Going on a bit of tangent, I'm reinstalling Oblivion tomorrow and finding a ton of mods for it now that my computer can actually handle them. I'm really hoping that people have created mods for Oblivion, too, that removes that emptiness and loneliness that you mentioned; that we have all experienced.
The nostalgia is killing me...
entering the painting to save its creator,

Crafting a speed spell to use on Shadowmere and blitzing across the map :D
By Azura, By Azura, By AZURA! It's the grand Jeremy Soule, playing music next to me!
Absolutely divine. No game compares to this for me personally in terms of atmosphere and emotional connection. The soundtrack fills my visual field with wonderful images and memories of the beautifully colourful fields and quaint little shops. Just amazing.
I don't know why I always feel like crying when I listen to Oblivion's atmosphere..
Oblivion has one of the best soundtracks ever. Morrowind and Skyrim are damn good too don't get me wrong, but Oblivion just hits the spot more often.
I think the same. He did something amazing with Oblivion's soundtrack :-)

Nostalgia at its finest
Wow, smacked in the face with nostalgia. This was wonderful, thank you for posting this.
Music that not only incites so much nostalgia, but also takes me back a simpler time, a simpler life, when things were easier. I'm sure so many of us can relate, and although we can never go back such times, this sure makes us forget about everything else, and just relive old, fond memories... :)

always nice hearing this music while watching two imperial foresters have a bow and arrow battle with each other.
11:59 the nostalgia just hit me like a brick, dude this track can really bring a tear it was so lovely god I miss the oblivion music....
this is "Auriel's Ascension", a true masterpiece.

I feel the same :') we gamers are a nostalgic bunch ;)
Thanks to those type of tracks I passed my studies...I was dead tired after job and listening to Jeremy Saul music because it was not only Oblivion songs I managed to somehow reset my mind and read a book and prepare for the exam...
Few games' soundtracks make me want to play the game more than this one. Absolutely wonderful. One of the greatest RPGs ever made.

So I just started Oblivion (Found it for $8!) Honestly I love the more vibrant colours.
I love jeremy soule and everything related to TES. Thank you for posting this
Wonderful post. I love the soundtrack to Oblivion and Skyrim so much. I don't think I could ever get tired of hearing it, makes me feel at peace with myself!

Totaly right, in Skyrim everything wants to kill you xD
Yes man, I totally agree. I really love Oblivion. Sometimes, when I was playing, I really felt like being home. Sounds too geek, but the game always make me feel really comfortable.

@BreakfastSkippa tes games take years to make. bethesda is a fine example of what a game developer should be. not like activision where they realase copies every year ( cod)

8 years ive been listening to this.. so wonderful to sleep to
It may just be nostalgia talking, but Oblivion's soundtrack always hits the spot for me. Same with the Guild Wars soundtrack. Jeremy Soule is a legend.
Thanks a lot for this compilation ! These "Atmosphere" tracks are just incredibles...
Jeremy Soule is a fucking genius.

@@JakubG lol you reckon he’ll return? I hope so

Oblivion... Che tempi..
This game will forever have a special place in my heart.
First played this baby 8 years ago, proud asf.
So many peaceful nights in Cyrodiil... protecting dears from wulfs!
So many happy days in Cyrodil hunting Deers with bows and arrows :D
Blobby90 so many happy days just wandering around cyrodiil
Colton Jefferson So many mods...too many...it's addicting...
Just listening to these nostalgic tunes makes me want to go back on Oblivion Again!
I get such an amazing feeling from listening to this, takes me back to my first play of Oblivion, when everything in the game was just beauty and wonder
Ich liebe oblivion einfach , die musik, die landschaft und die story
This music is amazing. I doubt I will ever play Oblivion again, but this music will last forever.
wow I get such a heavy heart to some of this music. The tears just come.Magnificent music built for fantasy and the afterlife.
I don't know about you guys, but I think Jeremy Soule's music is part of the reason Oblivion and Skyrim are so awesome.
History essay, let's do this. Thanks Jeremy Soule
Superb video of all those amazing tracks. Oblivion was perfect for a game that year it came out, not many other games could compete with it.
Oblivion music+ screenshots = death by nostalgia
A time whence came and past, only visible in memories glass
soo much better than skyrims atmospheres
Different, not better, in my opinion. Oblivion looks and feels magical (maybe thats just my nostalgia talking), while Skyrim on the other hand was a harsh and unforgiving land. The music reflects that. Don't get me wrong, I love both, but I believe the soundtrack did both themes justice.
Jewel45615 couldnt of put it better!!!
Jewel45615
The other big thing differentiating the two soundtracks was the melodic style chosen between them.
Skyrim was a great game, but it lacked a certain vibrance and richness Oblivion had. It felt drab.
"Peace of Akatosh" is probably my favorite. Very moving piece of music.
Professional musician? Please, I am everything but that, and I still am just stunned.
Thank you so much for these, took me forever to find these ones.
I sleep to this
I demand a remake of this wonderful Game!
Oblivion's atmosphere is better than Skyrim's but Skyrim is better in other ways.
Both games rock!
You mean by having 5 years on advanced technology, Skyrim was never in any way better, other than graphics, that was because 2010-2012 was a period of time where games had graphics as good as today's, and they are old still!
Skyrim certainly had the graphics going for it... then again so did Oblivion. But I remember seeing the sky in Skyrim, the massive clouds.. then the bright star lit sky... wow.
The Medic from WinterVille I have no idea what you just said.
AJBxxSlayer/Digital Hoot Gaming I played Oblivion when it came out so I disagree on the graphics side. TBH Skyrim looks outdated by today's standards.
This is just staggeringly beautiful..
Auriels ascension: Best study music. It really clears your mind of stress. I think it helps studying. Perfect for exams :D
Anybody else fell in love with the rain 'cause of Oblivion?
yesssss
(hahaha remember how it would rain in tunnels and through objects? I loved how it would snow through stuff) *smiles fondly*
i love oblivion with all my heart i played it when i was a kid and i still play it! i love it over skyrim...
Morrowind and Oblivion are my lovely parts of Elder Scrolls.
I've played maybe one hour to Oblivion, but THAT SINGLE HOUR was a pure moment of epicness. (though I've been slayed maybe ten times)
Nostalgia is real!!😬😬
oblivion is definitely more cheerful. skyrim is more dark and grey themed. the west weald is full of goblin holes but the wine. skyrim seems more wild due to the nords and the harsh land itself but cyrodiil is much more peaceful where the citizens lived sheltered behind their big city walls. the grass is greener, the weather is warmer. but there are ... dark places, so let's not fool ourselves when we walk down the yellow road or through the beautiful forests and the ruins.
I agree with the dark places. What happened to the old Dark Brotherhood listener was really fucked up.
***** what, you killed him in Bravil? Not that messed up. No more so than you killing everyone else on the hand. What happened to Lucien? That was harsh. Lucien was a speaker though, not the listener.
I think Oblivion has the best video game soundtrack ever made.
you can find it on itunes
lord zilu Eeeeh, whilst I prefer Morrowind for sheer content, gameplay and soundtrack goes to Oblivion. Sorry.
La mejores composiciones que es escuchado!!!!
This is my all time favourite game soundtrack.
True, the landscapes are... Also gorgeous... :D
Love that reworking of "Silt Sunrise" from Morrowind. Soule is so fantastic!
So peaceful
I was so happy when I found the unicorn in Oblivion! I did a lot of skooma and that creature was the fastest thing on Nirn. It died from a small hill. Sucks that Skyrim doesn't have a Unicorn... only a mod. Arvak is pretty awesome though...
Very nice music to study to, thanks a lot for uploading!
I've loved oblivion for the longest time and I still love it, I also love skyrim. And I still love skyrim
Holy shit it has been 10 years already. Time flows ever onward.
Thank you for posting this!
You know if i you ever play that game and add some of the beautiful landscape mods that exist out there you can find that combination of astonishing scenery and music one of a kind. It's exactly what makes TES series so unique and beloved
amazing composer
Esta música te atraviesa el alma, secuestra tú corazón y enternece tus sentidos haciendote divagar en la imaginación.
Jeremy Soule is a god
The only thing that could possibly make it better would be if it lasted a little longer.
Breathtaking.
Best game soundtrack ever
I loved oblivion for its atmosphere, but sometimes I felt I had to escape cyrodill as due to the basic AI and limited player interaction, I often found myself feeling very much alone. Shivering Isle was a small escape, until I once again longed for the green planes, when I put oblivion down for a long period, it was because of that feeling of isolation eg the player homes were empty, they helped work on this in skyrim, but in ES6 I want to see the protagonist as more of a character in the world with more realistic talking AI, eg, developing conversation trees like 'rumours',
Sorry it's late and I'm trying to sleep to this music) 😂
