In 2003, as the US was wrapping up the late stages of the Iraqi conflict because I can't say what it actually is or this will get decimated lol A small group looking for Organic Chem Cloud Creators would raid a small village. Once there however, nothing would be found. That is until they fell through the crust and were immediately set upon by creatures that could rip a soldier apart. In todays episode we will discuss these alien vampires and the parasite that turned them!

About a decade ago I read a gay romance serial with the premise of vampire aliens. Good story but less horror.

I Love the idea of cryptid monsters actually being alien's it somehow works, makes our myths and legend makes it more interesting
I hope the mysterious government(?) group get explored more in season 2 (since The Devil In Me is the finale of season 1). Gave me big SCP vibes.
Part of me likes it but it takes away that but mystery, just saying "We've been looking at it wrong" means things like Vampires are just mortal creatures and we let our fear blind us to the science and lets us actually find a way to kill them, as opposed to them being undead magical beings that are truly unkillable, I say this as someone who studies Biology for fun, the second I figure out something or some horror movie relates it to some Virus or Biological abnormality I lose interest because it's easily fixable by anyone who knows what they're talking about, Zombies just being caused by Mutant Rabies Virus well then we wait for the person to die or rot enough to not worry about it, so hunker down for a year somewhere secluded and you're fine
One of my favorite cheaper cartoons I use to watch was basically that same premise, all crytpids were actually some kind of alien, the main characters were a secret government agent and a banshee who would warn him when deadly danger was near. It was Such a fun cartoon but I only got through the first season, I'm not sure what the name was either :c

There actually is a way to remove the parasite in the game. When Rachel gets infected if you use the uv light on her the parasite flees her body.
Even had the footage of it in there, but didn't talk about it.

it actually is in the game where the creatures used to be a normal species and something happened to make them go mad. They find a room with music if i remember correct and the hypothesis was they were once peaceful creatures.
Your theory fits they were just cruising around the universe and found a parasite that caused a major change.
I think that's very heavily implied. IIRC, they find the remnants of one of the last uninfected aliens in the ship and it looks nothing like the vampire aliens that had been terrorizing them.
Yeah and the regular uninfected ones also don't have sharp teeth because they wouldn't need them if they were peaceful, just the infection/parasite mace them evolve that way
I gotta say, I hope Scorn is on his list. That game is a biological wonderland of brutal trauma.
There isn't lore to work with though unfortunately. It's just a very heavily inspired H.R. Giger game.

Were it not for the parasite origin, I'd have thought it'd be neat if these aliens actually ran into a classical supernatural vampiric infection. Besides that, I definitely wanna see your thoughts on how good Ceph bioengineering is in *Crysis 2* regarding their creation of the Manhattan Virus.
I'm kind of surprised that Roanoke hasn't covered the Cept from Crysis yet. He really should.
@@TurokRevolution There's a lot of angles to choose, like the original Ceph of the first game, as well as how they adapted to be less energy-intensive and more efficient in the second game.

ya he kinda skipped over the Resin that makes you immortal. It also coated the Aliens and is partly responsible for why they were so durable.
And seemed to miss that you CAN actually get a parasite out of someone (and have a living person afterward) with UV exposure if they're still alive.
Every time I see someone talking or playing this game, they always love Salim and calls him a Chad... And I love it.
Yup I watched the whole game on TH-cam a couple months ago and Salim was my favorite character. As a father I understand wanting to be there for your son

I would say that the spikes and horns could be sensory organs that the parasite would grow and expose in order to have a more direct way to perceive it's surroundings instead of relying just on the host's senses.
Aside from the alien origin, this infection feels like it was taken from “The Cave” which I remember you covering a couple months ago
Possibly was, at least inspired by since it's like a thirteen year difference between the two medias. Honestly this game seemed like a spiritual successor to the Cave to me

This one was probably my favorite of the Dark Anthology series. I absolutely did not see that twist coming AND I even got everyone to survive on my first run. It was definitely and interesting story.
I loved the final scene, i'd gotten everyone out, they all drew knives and flares ready to fight to the death and unga bunga'd the alien vampires to death until the sun rose. Never see that kind of cool stuff in movies

Ah yes, "Banishing vampires with the light of Allah ft. Max0r" by Rimmy Downunder was my introduction to this ridiculous (and actually good) entry by the studio. Salim being the absolute Middle-east Doomguy in this game was one of the coolest shit I've ever seen.
I love how Salim takes the fkin piece of rebar with him even after the rescue.
THIS SHIT IS NOW CONSECRATED.
Also- the alien situation reminds me of The Thing, good inspirations. And hey, the dev studio behind this finally dropped the "It was all a halucination" shit.

I think it's actually half a truck bumper IIRC but it turns out to be the most versatile and effective anti-vampire weapon of all. For other uses of rebar or similar objects in vampire killing, I'd recommend The Strain, probably the TV series, because it expanded on the books quite a lot. One of the main characters slays his way through a vampire apocalypse with a piece of rebar.

Fun fact this is based on a true story. During the Iraq conflict in the desert natives warned military troops of monsters living in cave systems. With reports of strange noises and bat like appearances natives warned to stay away from specific caves as the terrorist wouldn't be in those ones just the monsters.

Hey Roanoke, if you are ever running short on fictional creatures to observe, analyze, and theorize on, maybe the Metroid series would be worth a look into. The Metroid Prime series has creature logs and lore to look into that are interesting reads with the second and third game having full viewable models.

Hey Roanoke, I’ve got a suggestion for what you can cover in your next video. I just re-watched a movie that I hadn’t seen in a while yesterday night called, “Cowboys .VS. Aliens”. QUESTION!
The eyes of the infected humans are white, like they’ve lost, or are losing their eyesight.
If that is the case. Is it not possible that the parasite altered the aliens, to give them their new form of sight, over a long period of time?
The humans haven’t had this change yet, but I wonder if it is simply that there hasn’t been enough time, or generational infection, for the parasite to “learn” how to alter humans to such a degree.
