    Tasked with the creation of super soldiers to be utilized by the British Government, a company known as Horzine would start out with the intention of assuring the wests domination in any combat scenario. The issue was, as the CEO continued to experiment with altering the human form genetically, he would eventually go on to try to resurrect his son which would ultimately fail. In this failure however, his mentality would shift towards his family being the dominant force on Earth. This would go on to cause an outbreak which caused London to become inundated with monsters, but how were these things created and what coding was used? Let's discuss that in todays episode!

    Small correction: not all female Zeds are based on Kevin's daughter, the Siren is actually based off of the DNA of his wife, who he killed in anger. Her desiccated appearance and screaming is based off of his perception of her in life.

    In Killing Floor 2 during the "endless mode". The Patriarch is the narrator for the waves. He drops little lore bits here and there but what I think is most relevant is the after wave announcement. If you kill the zed quickly the Patriarch states "There must be something wrong the aggression subroutines". I believe this may suggest that the Zeds are actually made more aggressive somehow.

      Also he mentions sometimes that zeds are subject to failure often. He'll say something like, "that fleshpound was weaker than usual, i'll get the next one right." So it seems the zed production method leaves something to be desired for consistency.

    I always assumed the zeds were aggressive because that's what they were made for. It was originally a super soldier project after all. And after everything went down, the Patriarch needed the aggression to fight the war.
    But the aggression being a symptom of unaddressed psychopathy leftover from the son also seems possible.

    • @sinjin8576
      @sinjin8576 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      I know for some of the Zeds the aggression was for different reasons.
      The Chainsaw wielding Skrake for instance was supposed to recieve massive doses of serotonin and other positive chemicals when treating soldiers in the field.
      Unfortunately the word "treating soldiers" was too vague...as in "anything you use your chainsaw on counts" vague, causing them to just be raging psychotic killers.

    • @Deadsnake989
      @Deadsnake989 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Some of the aggression is an intended effect of implants. The Fleshpound for example is rendered blind, and has a device that pumps hormones, steroids, and adrenaline into it when it encounters certain stimuli. That's why it functions in game the way it does. It targets a member of the group, and then once they've been in their aggro range long enough, it hulks out and chases them in rage mode and doesn't stop this cycle until they're deleted or the FP is deleted.

    I always viewed the Clot Mother as more of a Plant/Tree organism. Where it grows the Zeds like fruit using the biomass as food to sustain that growth. Also in KF2 the mercs are hired by Horzine itself and use a lot of their tech. It is also somewhat implied that the mercs are clones themselves and Horzine is still just running experiments.

If you flip it a huge lovecraftian tentical with a mouth quickly emerges and starts inhaling all zeds in the area, ending them in the process. If you follow this tentical bellow you'll notice it's attatched to the clot mother. Sooo. Idk what she is but immobile isnt it.

    I think the idea for why the Clots & Zeds are so aggressive is really interesting. Even while you were explaining it, I was thinking how babies are in a vulnerable & still-solidifying state of being, so a lot of urges and emotional reactions can't be fully acted upon. Having a fully-functioning body, the ability to express that immediately and knowing that you're strong enough to sufficiently act on your impulses & gut feelings must give you a hugely different relationship with the learning process. What'd you'd learn compared to an infant would turn out completely different too.
    Where babies need to sit back and learn, you can act and what you'll pick up will change entirely. Really cool ^^

    I'm personally curious how the bosses are made besides Dr Hans and Patriarch. Matriarch seems to be a lot like him, but then you get the King Fleshpound, The Bloat (I think that's its name), and the Krampus variant. Since Santa does exist in this universe (though significantly hunkier), the Krampus variant would be interesting

    • @feathero3
      @feathero3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      The Bloat is the base version of the big green zed. It's boss version is called, "Abomination," and as much as I HATE that boss, it would be awesome to see the science and lore behind it.

    • @manofmercy1500
      @manofmercy1500 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      From what I can guess, both the King Fleshpound & Abomination were the result of a few of their normal versions (Fleshpound & Bloat) being further augmented and enhanced on a genetic level.
      The Matriarch however does have an established background. She was originally Kevin's/Patriarch's daughter Rachel Clamely (who had previously aided the London Mercs in a partially successful op to destroy a major Horzine Facility where the Patriarch was, though he escaped before its destruction) who after she created the EDAR droids (with most of them ending up in Kevin's control) in another failed bid to kill her mutated father, resorted to using the same gene altering procedures that turned her father into The Patriarch along with an experimental combat suit, hoping to match him in a direct fight. But just like it did with Kevin, the mutations drove Rachel mad & ever since she's taken the few EDAR units still under her control and has started a unhinged manhunt against the Patriarch, even if it means slaughtering any survivors or mercs who run into her in the process.

      @@manofmercy1500
      I love and hate Rachel's story.
      On the one hand it's awesome to bring an established character back, and in such a tragic hero story where they succumb to the same evils as the monster they're hunting is a nice touch. Not every character needs to remain pure.
      However, I don't know if it fits Rachel's character to actually make that change so drastically and just become another boss killing innocents. Seems so out of no where story wise. We only knew her from 1 Objective Mode mission, but I still never got the "I will do whatever it takes" vibe from her.

    Since you plan on covering the other variants in the future I thought I'd throw this out here so you have the info when you get to the Scrake. It's a common misconception lore wise that the Scrake was developed to be sort of a specimen field medic and while aspects of this may still ring somewhat true this is actually a tidbit thats more so a holdover from the mod version of the game. A Killing Floor 2 steam trading card actually reveals that the Scrake's explicit purpose to the specimen horde is to collect bio-mass in order to feed to the clot mother to propagate the creation of more clots, it does so by hacking apart zed and human corpse's alike into smaller pieces using it's chainsaw in the aftermath of a firefight and then transporting the assorted viscera to a processing facility. This can also be inferred to be why Scrakes show up during later waves as they're likely attracted by the sounds of gunfire.
    Additionally in a post on the Tripwire Interactive forums, the composer and co-designer of the first game and mod, zYnethetic revealed the Scrake's name is actually an acronym standing for Swing Chainsaw Rape And Kill Everything. This could infer the possibility that Scrakes serve the dual purpose of basically being living psychological warfare existing to cause as much horrifying chaos as possible to break survivors and although just a theory I personally believe the Scrake may be responsible for the corpses frequently seen strung up in disturbing fashions throughout both game's maps.

      Also how is the Scrake supposed to R@pe without any private par- you know what? I don't wanna know.

    I think the creator of the game made a short but decent movie (actually it a trailer called undercover) on how to Clots got out which was the result of some journalist/activists trying to expose the company ("the world needed to know" as the one who reminds me of Amy once said) but ended up releasing them all because they were found by one lone and unarmed scientist who they could of just easily punched.

    One thing I think would be interesting for the third of these games is that the Clod could be throwing more bodies into those meat grinders, and potentially non-human bodies as well resulting in new abominations in assembly to setting a precedent to continue the series even without a bigger player behind the wheel. You could even add various pvp games similar to left 4 dead.

    • @shcdemolisher
      @shcdemolisher ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I myself have thought of that. Maybe alternate branches of the company went against the nut job boss and sent their clones against other clones as bio weapons. Massive infighting yes but a good distraction and a way to have Allie’s in the game. In fact I’ve always wanted things like more heavy military support like helicopters and artillery strikes giving huge damage AOE moves.

    • @shcdemolisher
      @shcdemolisher ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of course also more experiments like having players being in control of enemies as a form of simulations. And like you said, animals thrown in for more abominations and new enemies, which would be very fun to spice things up.
