      I used drugs for 20 years gave them up then 5 years later. I was so worse off. So I got tested for ADHD. It came back I have ADHD, OCD, CPTSD and
      mild to severe depression separation anxiety. And I isolate.
      Is that normal anyway I can't get any help.
      So I use TH-cam it can help understand myself. Thanks

    3 years ago, anxiety ruled my life. I couldnt leave my house and I was stuck in front of my tv. Now, I help others working as a peer support specilaist. I have leanred many coping skills and use a Calmigo device. Today, I helped reduce a panic attack with someone. I've come along wa by using these videos and learning more about anxiety.

    What a great informative video! I like how you emphasize that anxiety is normal but becomes a disorder when it affects your ability to function. Many people want to get rid of anxiety not realizing that it is part of our bodies natural defense mechanism. So yes, I absolutely agree... Pills before Skills, but sometimes you need pills to build skills, but once those skills are built they'll help you as you come off the pills! That's my philosophy.

      Always, but even more during/since COVID.
      I get what I call "stacked anxieties". Say I'm in a social situation making me anxious. I want to escape, leave. As if I had never been there. Then I get anxious about finding a way to leave without my exit being noticed. I often wind up freezing, awkwardly hiding in a corner. Which triggers anxiety about my anxiety being noticed.
      I am an anxiety sandwich. 🤣🙃
      Edit: I have a jovial persona I can wear that lets me cope temporarily (I mimic my Dad, a world-class salesman), but it is exhausting. Then I get anxious as I tire. Sigh.

      It does, I got my first serious serious attack last Monday, I thought I was dying but I didn’t know what was going on until the ambulance came and they told me what it was and ever since then I fear of getting another attack and that has taken control over my life, I can’t spend time with people, can’t eat at a restaurant, I can’t work right, I can barely talk to my own cousin in her room for more than ten minutes because I start getting anxious… I don’t know what to do sometimes

    Good to see you again, Dr. Mattu! :)
    I've been chilling at home for the past year, happy, no stress, then a few weeks ago work started talking about bringing me back into the office and I've been having panic attacks at the thought of returning. I've been dealing with it by applying to every full-time, work-from-home job I feel remotely qualified for. I don't have an anxiety disorder, but I do not feel safe returning to work right now either. I otherwise really love my job and don't want to leave it, but that flight response has kicked in hard. Time will tell if I stay or go. I just wish they'd respect the fact I don't want to return while the pandemic is still ongoing.

  • @lovelystarrynight

    With meds I have less anxiety attacks where I end up crying for hours and with therapy if it comes on it lasts for less time than it used to be, anxiety for me was environmental (trauma, lots of it) and could have been genetic as I speculate that many family members probably have it yet refuse to seek professional help to even get diagnosed. Anxiety does get in the way as it makes it harder to concentrate on anything especially studying and it enables my anger issues so they aren't a good pair yet been working on it

    I'm 100% avoidant.
    My procrastination stems from my ignorance and the fear (or, sometimes, knowledge XD) that I don't know how to do something and I am going to make a mistake and feel shitty about it.
    Logically I know that I will either forget about that feeling or I will make up for that mistake and not do it in the future (or do it differently and learn again) but heck, tell that to my stupid brain.
    As of lately, I'm procrastinatig the search for a job because of this. I feel uncapable of doing anything, especially what I've studied for (psychology, lmao. Community psychology, to be specific.)
    I'm not sure I can count it as an axiety disorder, but f* this is shitty.

    How to cure anxiety disorder?

  • @kayla8192
    @kayla8192 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I definitely feel like I have an anxiety disorder at specific moments. Usually 2-3 times a year I’ll have very severe anxiety over different things where I have to call out of work 3/4 days and just freeze until I feel better. In those moments, def, and I have low level anxiety all the time but it usually doesn’t effect how I live other than being anxious 😂 I’m on very minor medication and my therapist says I sit high on the emotional threshold so minor things send me over the edge. 😅

    • @drali
      @drali  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing, Kayla. There are A LOT of people who live at that threshold, right on the line of impairment. It’s a testament to all you are doing to take care of yourself and be resilient that the anxiety hasn’t led to more frequent impairment 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

    When it comes to Anxiety, I think Deep Breathing & Meditation techniques are quite underrated as it's permanent solution. I suffered from Pure-O for almost 6 years but Standing Meditation and Deep Breathing techniques have helped me immensely to observe & analyse my thoughts and not get associated with it. It helped me come out of the anxiety because of thought and thought because of anxiety vicious circle.

    I think ive always had social anxiety to some degree but it didn't feel that serious as there weren't many situations where i *had* work/interact with my peers during my school years. Now that im in college, it's really intense due tons of group projects and what not. I've been having a *lot* of anxiety for 3yrs now, to the point i almost dropped out (twice) but i instead took a break. I hope i can get myself together before i have to get back.

    • @drali
      @drali  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've worked with a lot of people who have had a similar experience as yours, where there was some anxiety in high school but it really took off in college. If at all possible, work with your college's counseling center to transition back in. There might be resources and support in place to help with this that you might not be aware of.
