How do you deal with worries about the future?
first!
finally a video!
Hey Eckhart, think about the future.
I try and ground myself and remember that there is no future for anything without being in the present
@@harmonybrowndemelo3155 good mindset.
Dr. Ali returned when we needed him the most 💪✨
Awww glad to hear it! 😎
Catastrophizing is my problem. I’ve already experienced so many traumatic events that I’m now hyper vigilant about what crisis’s lay around the corner
When I find myself ruminating about the future - I use my breath to help ground in the present moment, and shift focus on what’s happening in the now. Mindfulness has definitely helped me!
Having a thought that might be difficult and learning how to focus on the present moment is such a key skill!
This video came at the right time for me. The relief I felt watching and listening to this episode was very therapeutic. Thanks, I’m going to watch it again and try the suggested strategy’s 😅
Yaaay! So happy it was helpful to you 🙌🏽
@@drali very helpful. I’m finishing up my psychology degree and the anxiety of completing the work In a pandemic whilst raising teens has been unbelievable!
I’m a little bit (a lot) of an anxious person, constantly worried about the future. Really appreciate your channel. Discovered it at 4am-ish while having anxiety lol
thank you for this. I've been wanting to throw up from anxiety and stayed up last night due to it, and those anxieties carried over to today. Your video is what helped me finally start to calm down the wretching pit in my stomach and my throat feeling like I want to throw up and not have a crying breakdown. You mentioned that this TH-cam channel was a risk but I'm really grateful you took that risk and know you've really helped me from this video.
I accidentally found some of your videos last year on Facebook. I struggle with depression and anxiety. Mostly anxiety. This video lifted weight off my shoulders just hearing other people going through similar things that I’m going through and your advice I will definitely be using. I’ve been having a hard time lately following through on things because of my anxiety. I love this video. It is a big help.
I have the worst Anxiety about the future ,I struggle worrying about dying alone ,and not being able to afford my medication to keep me alive,to even not being able to support my self financially because Iam agoraphobic. Iam afraid of not feeling Safe and secure or not being able to be healthy enough to take care of my self or my mother, and I worry about not being able to support my mother when my grandpa dies. I also cannot sleep naturally without highly over medicating with sleeping pills and I have been like this since I was 4 years old.I want to be able to control everything and when I can't then I cannot function like a person without mental health issues. I also go through seasonal depression. Iam in Canada and we don't get enough sunlight or good weather and it effects my mood.
Going through your braver with anxiety workshop and glad I clicked on this very relevant struggle to help supplement the guide.
I really loved the text overlay you added at parts.
And I loved seeing how you model this interaction and think about this problem.
I’m really glad that you post these types of videos! As an inspiring clinician this video gives me a practical template for how to actually apply structure to a clinical interview (even tho this is a casual type chat and shouldn’t get confused for clinical guidance :P). Thanks for keeping it real Dr Ali 🤩🤩🤩
This channel is so calming and Dr. Ali is so reassuring. Thank you for this great source of information, Doctor! 🙏
Really loving these interviews/intimate sessions!!!
Oh my God this is something I was looking for so helpful dr.ali . going through same situation and facing difficulty in making choices now kinda feeling calm
The fact I came across this video BECAUSE I was over-researching on what to do after my Psych degree 😂 Very helpful, thank you!
Every second of this was so relatable for me! I share those same sentiments of wanting to excel at what I do, be recognized for that, and also be there to help people trying to do the same.
When I’m feeling anxious I also TOTALLY dive into getting more information, and now I know maybe I shouldn’t always do that.
Powerful. This helped me a lot. Thanks.
Hi Ali. I don't usually comment, but this video and the social anxiety one really hit home for me. It was as if the interviewees were voicing all my thoughts to a tee. I've struggled a lot as a 21 year old changing career paths completely after already getting on the on ramp to a financially solid future, and trying to develop meaningful relationships. I essentially know what I need to do but often find it almost impossible to take the leap. It's like standing on the edge of a pool for an hour because I'm afraid of how painfully cold it will be when I jump in. Small steps into uncertainty and increasing tolerance makes a lot of sense. Personally, I think perfectionism and fear of failure/rejection are my biggest challenges to overcome. BTW, you seem almost like a therapist version of the 'Professor' in the hit Netflix series 'Money Heist'. Thanks!!!
The question asker's issue is exactly like mine, I have never heard my own feelings voiced so accurately before, and so the answer was also perfect. Felt like a weight off my shoulders.
Dr Mattu, it’s been a while since the last time I’d been active and posted on your channel! I’m so glad to see that you’re still going strong and that you even have Patreon now. That’s fantastic! You were such a life-saver for me back in 2016 or so when I’d stumbled on your channel. I hope that other people have also benefitted from your videos. :D
Great to see you again Jules! Hope you've been able to navigate this pandemic as well as possible. Happy to still be here myself and continuing to share what I know with folks!
I really needed to hear this. thank you so much!
Thank YOU for being part of the community!
This was brilliant. So similar to my current situation. Couldn't have come at a better time
Happy to hear it helped!
This sounds so similar. im that type of person who wants to control every moments. In my back is couple of bad traumas , they are changing still my actions. And im very maybe oversensitive person in real life but my role is to be strong self-concess person . I have learned to ask help and thinking that i dont have to know everything or have to control everything. that had helped me.
I took notes from this video and going to apply them soon! Thanks a lot for the analogy as well!
Happy to hear it was helpful!
I know this is way too late but I want to thank you doctor very much :) this video helped me so much because I'm dealing with the anxiety about my university (whether to stay here in Slovakia or go study abroad). Amazing advices
was diagnosed with it recently and I’m trying to find coping skills and this helped❤
Your video helped me get over anxiety attack thank you

Thank you for this video.🎉
Dr. Ali Mattu we need a podcast!
I was thinking of releasing these episodes as podcasts too!
@@drali You should do it! I drive a lot and I would listen to you all day. TH-cam drains my data. I love your dialogue, I wish you were my therapist!
Aww the guy on the phone sounds super cute, hope whichever option he goes with will work out for him, if not, I hope he will have the strength to change course🙏 great video and amazing advice as always, thank you❤
How does someone sound "cute"?
@@JRspeaking dont know😂he just sounded like a nice guy, dont attack me😇
@@bianka94825 Not an attack. I was genuinely curious!
Ahaha, funny to see a nice comment like this and kinda surreal. Luckily I've been on track pursuing psychology so things have been going well!
The present moment is all there is ......Stuart Wild
You're a great help.
thankyou Dr.Ali ❤️
Happy to help!
thanks for the great vids!
your good , thank you
Bingo,,spot on Doctor, thanks a Million
Really helpful
Thanks, Dr. Mattu, I have been struggling with this for some time, and I really needed this. Thank you and thanks for your advice.
So relatable
I do not know if I have anxiety but this was helpful
Allergies? * laughs in Benadryl *
How fast can you type? 🙃
I love researching pretty much anything so doing research for major life decisions is nothing out of the ordinary for me. But I also know when to stop and just make the decision. I know when I made the decision I was as informed as I could have been so it was the best I could have done at that point in time.
My life has been filled with uncertainty for over a year so it's basically just survival mode now. Some matters are entirely out of my control so I'm just doing my best.
Love the editing - looking forward to seeing more of this! I was wondering if you've heard of Dr.K (HealthyGamerGG), mainly on Twitch?
The future is out of our control
That was very me!!!!!
But I I will not be able to change my decision after 1 year. I I will not be able to change it after 5 and its horrific!😮💨
Great video, really enjoyed the content and pragmatic tips. Also love your shirt, where did you get it from?!
PLEASE MAKE IT INTO A PODCAST. 🙏💖
I might just do that 🙌🏽
Its 4am !!and I keep waking up out of sleep my anxiety won’t let sleep, I’m sitting here shaking, even when I’m around others😔
Have you ever thought of making a podcast? I would love to listen to you on (for example) Spotify! :)
Why are Australian accents so jarring for me (who is Australian) when I hear it alongside American accents? 😅
Is it me or does Dr. Ali look like the actor Hill Harper?
I need to communicate with you urgently please..........
If it takes a year to get back to someone in need of help then.....
first!
Please analyze the body language and responses of the doctors and witnesses in the Georgie Floyd case please.
