    Wow!! This is the best way to make faux vellum ever! I was making what I call glue paper which I printed on to get this same effect. It was a tedious messy process that I really hated to bother with. It took hours! This is a game changer for me! I am trying it out as I typ e this. Instead of a plastic bag, I used a dollar tree dinner mat but everything else the same. I know this will work!! So simple, yet brilliant! Great discovery! Thanks!

    Glue and paint are just plastics so this is just adding a plastic coating to the napkin-it's essentially an acrylic skin. Clever use of a napkin-it not only looks much cooler by making it translucent but it makes it so much more functional in a journal. Thanks for sharing.

    I recently started play with pva 2 /3 and 1/3water. With tea bags and napkins. I used 1 and 2 ply napkins. I decided the finished product was too brittle. So i added a layer of silk or cheese cloth. I do on silicone bake sheet. Its a more sturdy version of yours. But i love your idea. I may try it when get mod podge. I use glue down, opened tea bag down, glue, silk,glue, napkin, glue.let dry. Im just experimenting. But i was so shocked at results. I started make small sketchs on tissue paper or fresh tea bags. And preserved image this way. Im sure if gets wet, will become glue.ive resealed a few brittle ones with added silk layer. To make more pliable. Thank you for video. My ratios may be off for what really works. I only make 1/4 cup at a time pva, with 1 tbsp water. But it gave me a new way to do a piece of art that i enjoy doing. I put the images over top my envelope journal. They a solid, napkin art, image to go over a matching napkin glued to card stock.i love it. Then, i clipped it on edges with memo clips. Lol my first try at a 3 envelope folder type journal. Take care.this is not a smooth finished product. It is a bit crinkled from shrinkage, 1 ply napkin is clear background. 2 ply is a light tint of background but helps image stand out. Take care.

    • @WendysPaperJunk
      @WendysPaperJunk  ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome I am glad you are experimenting I was trying a glue and water mixture but my ratios were off and I kept making a mess I finally switched to tissue paper some of it the dye actually bleeds color and makes some really cool effects.

    Well, this IS exciting!!! I'm as excited as YOU!!!
    I'm watching #2 now.
    I was thinking: Because peeling off is so important to start, I was thinking, if you put a small piece of plastic on corner, hanging off edge, maybe that would help to start the peel.
    How about stamping, or writing on bag? Also, I think it would give stability to lace if you used lace instead of napkin???
    Anyway,...keep experimenting. Its fun and a good way to clear your head from making journals!!! Some times my eyes just go buggy!
    See ya later Wendy!!!

      While it's still wet, use a stiffish painting brush, and go around all the edges and gently wrinkle the edges up, just a tiny bit. So the edges are well covered in glue, but have a slight roll on them. When it's dry, you can more easily lift it off the backing. Info courtesy of another TH-camr @ Treasure Books. Really helps. Also the dried glue around the edges of the napkin, can be carefully pulled off. Or cut off.
