    Seriously? It's that easy? I thought I had to deal with wax and a hot iron and whatnot. Thanks for sharing and especially for demonstrating the different types of tissue paper. Can't wait to try this myself. Greetings from Germany, Andrea

      I have found my mix of collage medium works even better for this than Mod Podge that I used when I made this video.

    When i make my vellium I take a cotton ball generously dip it in baby oil...gently rub the cotton ball with oil onto the paper. I sometimes wipe the excess off with a paper towel...set it aside and let dry...comes out great. I haven't used tissue paper but I have used different weight of papers and it looks and feels just like vellium.

    • @TanyaMcGuire
      @TanyaMcGuire  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Flowers I have seen and done it that way however the oil in the paper makes it hard to use in collage and other things that I do so this method works better for me.

    • @TanyaMcGuire
      @TanyaMcGuire  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bethany so glad you liked it I have started putting Elmers Glue All into my Mod Podge and it makes things less sticky I do not have to wax pages like I had to before and the faux vellum is less likely to stick to another page. And Yes I would never put oil into my journal.

    Great tutorial. I will have to try this. Can you speed up the dry time with a heat gun? I would like to see a video showing ways youve found to make use of your faux vellum.

    • @TanyaMcGuire
      @TanyaMcGuire  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Julie I would say no to using a heat gun to speed up the drying time. For one thing the Freezer Paper is plastic coated and if you were to melt that it would stick very badly, and two Mod Podge is also a plastic so you would need to be very careful drying that with heat. But I never say never try it and see what it does. Do let me know. As to ways to use the Vellum I have used it for full pages in both the Possibilities Journal and the Flower Power Journal, but I have some other things I am working on for another video but I needed more finished pieces to play with. So soon I hope.

I do a live stream on Sundays at noon central time if you can pop in there and I will see if I can show you a few journals. or look here on my channel for journal flips

      honestly Dora I do not know I would only try on until you find out if the napkin will come off after dry and do not try to pull it off until totally dry, Parchment does not have the plastic layer so I just am not sure. hugs give it a try and let me know

    Forgive my previous bitchy comment about the two minute lead-in. This was really very very helpful. Diluted Modge Podge on tissue paper - what an excellent idea. I look forward to seeing how I can add a bit of texture for authenticity. Best of luck to you, and stay safe...

    • @TanyaMcGuire
      @TanyaMcGuire  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      you too, I have also found that a mixture of 1/2 mod podge and 1/2 Elmer's Glue All plus a tad (maybe a tablespoon) of water is even less glossy and less likely to stick to the next page

    Love this idea. Enjoy your channel, too! If this technique dries “sticky or tacky” how do you use it your junk journals? Would that blemish the surrounding papers? Thank you!

    • @TanyaMcGuire
      @TanyaMcGuire  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hi Teri I wax it if it is too sticky and I have found if you mix Elmer's Glue all about half and Half with the Mod Podge that it is not as sticky. Also Matte Medium will do this as well and it is not sticky but can make the colors in your napkins run in some of the napkins.

    • @SarahLongenecker
      @SarahLongenecker 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TanyaMcGuire Hi Tanya, I have a few questions:
      -When you mention "Elmer's Glue", in the above comment, are you referring to their "Washable School Glue" OR their "Glue-All"?
      -Are you mixing Elmer's Glue with Matte Modge Podge or Glossy or another...?
      -How does the faux vellum made with ONLY Matte Modge Podge compare to the 50/50 Elmer's glue/Modge Podge?
      I'm making some interchangeable wallpaper out of tissue paper, for my daughter's dollhouse, and I'm trying to find a way to add some rigidity do it...
      You have one of the clearest and "to-the-point" tutorials on this; thank you so much!!

    • @TanyaMcGuire
      @TanyaMcGuire  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SarahLongenecker hi Sarah I am talking about Elmers Glue All as it is a PVA type of glue and you can get a gallon at someplace like Lowes the school glue is washable so I do not use if for fear the humidity would make it tacky again down the road. I use Matte Modge Podge as it is more than shiny enough for me. I no longer use straight Modge Podge for anything as it is just too tacky and my pages stick together in books and such. Thank you this was one of my first videos so things have changed a bit in the last couple of years but I still love using this technique and I think your wall paper will be beautiful
