OMG! Guys, run from that cabin project. As a former carpenter, that place is super sketch to consider as a fixer upper. Remember, you have to fix it up to a point that passes applicable building code. But more importantly considering you want to make it a vacation rental, you have to be able to insure it at a reasonable cost. Whatever property you chose, you need to keep that in mind and build the cost into your business model. You guys are amazing and I wish you great success in your new endeavors!!

Land in that area, especially if it has utilities and no funky easements or restrictions, can run 50k an acre or more. With no house. That was a fairly good deal for 7.5 acres.

Thanks for the Gold Mine Tour. Very interesting. It is obvious that this was filmed before the 2 recent Tropical Storm and Hurricane. It would be interesting to know how this area is, after the devastation of Helene. I am in North Carolina where it is going to take many, many years if not decades to recover. Hoping you find your 'place' to set down a home base for you to renovate or build for your future travel journeys. I am looking forward to your future expeditions.🥰

I am a GA native & lived there for 58 years,… now we’re in SC, (just outside of Greenville). North GA is beautiful,… I’ve been to Dalonega numerous times. East TN has a similar feel; there are many small towns there and SC also much the same feel in the Upstate area. Good luck in your search our prayers are with you as you begin this next chapter. Try not to overdo it…I know you’re a hard worker Jordan. Also, you do such a good job of looking after your family.

Beautiful filming. You all must be going through so many mixed emotions these last several months. The bitter-sweet of leaving behind your sailing life. And yet, being a mom, and remembering what pregnancy is like.. I could see in Desirae's face a relaxed peace I've not seen in a while. Being in your own country and knowing how things work for health care must give you both peace of mind. Like many comments, don't rush into anything... follow your heart, yet living day to day in a place is different than the 'wow' of a first visit. You all put so much effort and research into Atticus 2 before getting her, I hope you all do the same with where you settle down and your next house. And lastly, I know your families in Florida are going through so much right now with the hurricanes. However, you all came back at the best time. Not only for the new baby on the way, but also for your families that need your support right now. I'm sure on so many levels they are grateful to have you back near them.

I was in the USNavy for 22 years and got to see a lot of different countries (Israel, Egypt, Turkey, Spain, Italy, and France). So, your travels to various countries coupled with my sailing interests is what attracted me to your channel. Now, that's all different, however, I still find myself attracted to your channel bc of my interests in what the USA has to offer in sight seeing. I wanted to do this when I retired, but the wife did not, so when I go I usually go with someone else or solo. For instance, I just visited The Creation Museum and The Ark Encounter with a close friend from Bible Study (Bucket list attractions for sure!). Can't wait to see the next video and the house/log cabin you wind up with.

I recall how much you guys loved Maine after buying Atticus II. I'm really surprised you didn't try to hit it up before the cold sets in up there. I can tell you that when we moved inland to buy a homestead, I knew I'd miss the smell of the sea but I had no idea that 7 years later I'd still wake up every single morning with that longing for the salt air, seagulls, seals and fog horns I'd grown so accustomed to on the California Central Coast. Maine is such a perfect mix of sea life, lakes, rivers, mountains and the four seasons. The Oregon coast might make a close comparison to that as well. Either way, I love your new adventure and pray you find the perfect home for your growing family.

It would be a dead investment, a house that would be difficult to sell. The sun hardly ever gets into the house and it doesn't look healthy. The ceilings are very low, the wooden structure may be moldy, causing odor and humidity. Security is another issue, I definitely wouldn't recommend buying it.

To me that cabin looks kinda creepy. Don't know if I have watched too many horror movies that take place in a kinda similiar scenario.
One thing I would advice is to ALWAYS talk to neighbors and even local police before buying a property that is so secluded. That way you know if there are any horror stories or records. You don't want to move into a house with strange vibes. Don't just trust the real estate person, they do not necessarily tell everything, as obviously they just want to close a deal.

With your talent, seems like a better idea would be to buy five or ten acres where you want to be and then order a log cabin kit and finish it out. Not only would you avoid the pratfalls of the old log cabin, but all of the roof/wiring/plumbing/sewer/etc. on a new kit would give you at least twenty years before you'd have to do much work on it. And it would be an interesting "build" channel - FROM BOATS TO LOGS.

You need to expand your campfire cuisine with a "Banana Boat" 😊 A cross between a s’more and a banana split, a banana boat is a quick and easy dessert to make while camping. Just split a banana in half, stuff it with toppings, wrap it in tin foil, and place it over the fire. Stuffings include marshmallows and chocolates - I like to use Reese's Peanut Putter Cups.

From a life long camper: all foods done on a campfire are to be done at night......UNLESS, it is your only cooking source, and you can cook "Foil Babies" (ground beef or chopped chicken wrapped in foil with a potato, carrots, ect. with lots of butter, cooked in foil, over coals) or your breakfast cooking. S'mores, hot dogs, and mountain pies(mountain pizzas) are all to be done after dark. I mean really, Jordan.........lol

  • @tjwalker960
    @tjwalker960 หลายเดือนก่อน

Okay. S’more etiquette. For supper, you start your campfire, when ready you’re going to heat chili and cook hotdogs. After that, you get the s’more ingredients together. Because this is happening in late fall, the sun is either setting or has set. That’s why you don’t eat s’mores during day. Definitely no microwaves or any other way to heat the marshmallows but the campfire.
Ok, I just made it all up, but it seems logical to me. 🤣

Georgia schools are better than Tennessee because of the taxes, but VA is a good 4- season state. New River is perhaps the second oldest river in the world. Close enough to the blue ridge and Appalachian mountains, caverns, trails, rafting, fishing, canopy tours... lots of history in VA. Can get to beaches in VA, NC and SC in half day drive (6 hours). Great video. Good to hear you have found a buyer for Atticus II. To run AirBnB, I would suggest you find a less popular area (few exiting AirBnBs), but within 2 hours drive of big populations (greater than 3 million). It's the sort of thing where good analysis is required. Codie Sanchez recently made a video 'This Tiny Home Airbnb Makes...'. Two big things are automating the booking process as much as possible and making the places feel really nice. Having multiple cabins, has numerous benefits, one being able to start small and add more as the cash comes in. I would avoid using all your cash, or borrowing.

Try something fun - a smaco! Take a tortilla and butter one side then place the buttered side down on a piece of foil. Fill the tortilla with marshmallows, peanut butter, bananas, nuts, chocolate chips - whatever you want. Roll up like a burrito and wrap in the foil then put right in the fire. Cook for 5-10 minutes. SO good! But for s’mores, there are no rules. Make them your own! Don’t forget to try banana boats and hobo tin foil dinners!

A big NO! It’s dark, dated, old, and it has bugs! That house looks like a wretched remodel - you’ll spend lots of $$ on it! I think you guys can do much better.

We've been wondering how Desire's mom made out in Hurricane Milton. I know she's in Sarasota.

...had no doubt you two could make films anywhere you set your minds to. Brilliant stuff here!! Story telling, your appreciation of the experience, and of course, we just like you guys! Jordan, your comments going up the stairs with the real estate agent cracked me up. BTW, smores best consumed with kids😊

Vogel is our favorite state park in Georgia. Never a bad time to stay there. Thanks for the tour through mine. We have never made an extended stop in Dahlonega.

S’mores are fine at any time. I’ve made’em indoors on a gas stove too. Just be glad you got’em and don’t ask silly questions like “when?”

I had no idea you were so close! I live in Adairsville which is maybe a hour south of where you are. We went to Elijay to look at houses a couple of weeks ago and got the scare of our lives in a Thunderstorm on the way back, even the Agent said it was the worst one she’s ever seen and she’s even older than me! It’s a great town with a Popular Downtown Area that reminds me of a Ski Town. I have sold my house & after looking for months, we’re building one. Jasper would be a great town that’s in the Mountains but close enough for hospital’s, school’s, good restaurants and good grocery stores. I think you’ll like the people in any of the North Georgia Mountain towns, they are special. In fact the Blue Ridge Mountains and People are wonderful, and there’s so much History. Remember the “Great Locomotive Chase”? It happened in Adairsville. I hope you’ll travel it & then decide where you like the best. I’ve used the same Agent the last 4 houses that’s wonderful and does it how YOU want…. She’s got years of experience at kinds of properties. Good Luck!!🍀

    Tip:
Take the bamboo skewers and stick them in a hole drilled in the end of an old broomstick (or a new thick dowel)...just replace the skewer after you've made s'mores.

So I was thinking of some other places to visit and when you mentioned the Cherokee’s it brought back thoughts of a beautiful place called Tahlequah Oklahoma. This is where the Cherokee came to settle on the trail of tears. Beautiful lake nearby and foothills of the Ozark’s.

My Dad lives in Blairsville which is a few minutes from Vogel State Park. Went there every summer as a kid. The coldest lake in the world is there. Love the North Georgia mountains! Such a beautiful area! Saw on Keep Your Daydream a cool way to make smores. Wrap a waffle cone full of chocolate and marshmallows in foil and put on the campfire. Well of course you have to wait until dark to eat smores. Everybody knows that. I think that's camping 101. Love seeing your little family RVing! Hope the family are all well in Florida!

Looks like much more fun than living on a boat. I taught scuba diving in St. Thomas VI. Seemed idyllic at first. Then, after about a year, the view underwater began to lose it's appeal. People need variety in life. You're no longer sailing, buy you are still exploring, and I guess in the end, the things we discover along the way are more important than the kind of transportation we use to get there.
