We tow an F150 with a full cap on the back. They are flat towable and the cap allows for a lot of extra gear to come with us (2 E-bikes, a Ninja Woodfire Grill, dog pen, outdoor gazebo...). Never had an issue with the truck (fingers crossed), so we definitely recommend it.
Beautiful coach. Safe travels....HOWEVER...always black tank then grey tank. That way the grey tank flushes out any icky stuff from your hose before you store it.
Yes, the roads. Could tell you were staying in the left lane going through Roggen on 76, you have to there if you value your care. That stretch of 76 from Brush to Hudson is some of the worst anywhere.
Always enjoy your videos. Can relate with you as we consider ourselves tourists and not campers. The covered wagon you guys saw imagining what it was like back in the day reminded me of a story about my great grandmother and my grandmother as a child. We have a special iron bed that we’ve kept all these years because it traveled on that wagon. Keep the videos coming.

@@fuelyourwander I had a 2021 Lincoln nautilus but it had a problem in the electrical system and to shift it into flat tow was a pain. My wife and i like comfort when we travel that’s one reason for the navigator. Also very easy to shift to the flat tow mode. The loaded navigator weight is 6600k lbs

Just found your channel. I like it. My wife and I are looking for an RV. Yours is a pretty nice one. I also like the idea of flat towing a car. For me, I would tow a Jeep Wrangler. That way I have 4 wheel drive when I want it. But if you want a Kia. Go for it. No judgement here. 😀
Our first vehicle was a wrangler. Excellent tow vehicle! Never a single issue. Since it's our only car, I wanted something larger and nicer. Don't knock the Kia.:) Although Hillary is never going to green light it! Thanks for watching!😀
We flat tow our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Never a problem. It’s not electric. I agree a trailer is just one more problem. I like your channel. My wife and I have had 35:43 all sorts of R.V.,s. We now have an older used airstream 30 foot gas R.V. with all the diesel problems in CA as you know we had to get rid of the diesel pusher. One big thing is there was way too many fixit problems it was so stressful . We considered full time but the problems alone was a wake up call for us. I wish we could full time but the problem we had is the ridiculous depreciation plus the new R.V.,s are too expensive. I guess you’ve learned to deal with it. Yeah you’re right about sketchy R.V. places. They are getting way expensive and the good ones are full at the better times of the year. You guys having two residences is tempting but what can you expect to pat for those two casitas. Palm Springs is awesome in the winter. What are the costs to buy in Michigan. Sounds cool. A trailer is a good option as you can take a lot more stuff. We have flat towed but I’m always paranoid about flat tires with 4 down. You can literally drag the car for quite a while TPM.s are a good safety thing for that. Having said that there are very few cars that can be actually rated for long distance towing. We have a Honda fit. No problems with that one plus it’s lighter. However Honda quit making that one so your stuck searching for a used one. We have a 2017. I think they made them for 2 more years. We usually tow our Chevy Sonic 2019 4 wheels flat with our rv, but something happens when we were driving our Chevy Sonic around Mo. We got into a rear end collision. Someone rammed us from behind and pushed us into the vehicle that was making a left turn. My dad unfortunately hit his nose on the steering wheel because of the crash and broke it. Also the drivers seat broke off of its mountings. The airbags didn't go off because only the hood and head lights were bash in. I unfortunately had back pain due to the crash and my glasses flew out the back of the car and I couldn't find them until the next day. My dad and I went back to the crash site and found out parking pass from Six Flags Saint Louis and my glasses had dirt and grit on them but they didn't break at all
Hey , on that actuator a k a landing gear. You need to find your pump and the valve that sends all the fluid to each actuator and give each fitting a little tightening with a wrench. With all the vibration from driving, they can loosen up and leak.It looks like you may have air in your system. Also one thing, I always do is take a can of WD40 and a good towel and spray down the shiny part of the actuator and clean them off before I retract my landing gear.
I had the same issue with the same jack. I got a rag and soaked it Transmission fluid and coated the jack stem while it was down, basically lubing the shaft. This fixed the issue. Maybe it will work for you.

@fuelyourwander, I had to use it once. Scared the ever living f*ck out me, and I was moving fast up it. Thought I was gonna launch off the top of it. Thanks for taking us along. It was a great video. You do great videos. Maybe see you on the road sometime. Sorry about your troubles with your jeep though.
The whole situation happened while we were on vacation in MO on October 23rd, 2024. Before then we had a great time at Puttshack is a high tech min golf course in saint louis mo that track your score. After that we got groceries at Walmart and we were heading back to the Rv and that's when the crash happened. Unfortunately our Chevy Sonic 2019 was towed to a tow truck place in mo called A- one towing. Our groceries unfortunately got eaten by animals so that was a disappointment to find out.
Coach has a built in surge protector that’s much better than your extra one. They are not designed to function with the built in protector. Both rv Debbie and American coach told me not to use it. Like you I have always used one until lately. Love traveling along with you two. We also have a 22 Dream. Our 3 new American coach. Safe travels and God bless.
True, our coach does have a built in EMS/Surge protector but the external surge protector is relatively cheap additional insurance. Plus it gives me a quick visual when I hook up the power to see that the 240 circuit in the pedestal has been wired correctly. I’m the guy that always assumes if one of something is good, then two must be better. 😀
I drive a Kia and love it. We are a Kia family we have a Sportage and a Forte. I have driven Kia for a long time and they have been great cars and SUV's.
KIAs are the number one car brand to get stolen around the Seattle area where we live. New ones may have a better security system but that is my main reason to not buy one.
Back in the mod 1800's, Ogallala was a big deal because it was a major mail hub. 🙂 Where are your gloves? 🤨 Axel looks like a sweet boy dog... 💗 Y'all be careful!
Hi Hilliary, You did a nice start to the video with the travel plan. However it would be great if you can explain the travel plan when you mark the stop overs on a Google map (without giving the exact location just highlighting cities)
Question. What fuel discount card do you have? Is it specific for a certain truck stop? Or does it work anywhere? We are preparing for our full time RV life (hopefully this spring) and i am trying to get all my ducks in a row😂 I'm sure i will just scratch the surface once we're on the road, but if I'm a little prepared, I'll feel much better. Haha.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video! Fyi...the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid is a great choice if you want luxury for a daily driver that is flat-towable.. The Black Label level is pretty impressive. Good luck with your buy back with Jeep.
We are test driving the Nautilus this week. It does look nice and I have high hopes. I have always liked Ford trucks and SUVs, so I would expect the Lincoln to just be high end derivative.😀
love watching your travels from the UK, the space and open roads you guys have out there is so different from our pokey little island. Those outdoor camera's you have fitted that you can monitor from inside look great, do you have more info on them?
am I the only one who thought you were sitting on your dog during her VPN ad? Looked like a paw sticking out. Hahaha Took me a minute to realize it was your foot. Keep up the great videos guys.
Have you tried Albanese Gummy bears? Way better than Black Forest and Haribo. They taste fruity not just sweet and sugary try them I think you will agree..
Awesome to see a new Fuel Your Wander video! Keep them coming especially with the super star Axle! Wouldn't adding a trailer be adding more potential for new problems...and you are looking for no problems, plus the added time and effort to load up? Don't most EV's have air ride suspension also? Just watched a CarWow video yesterday on the top 10 most reliable cars, and I think 3 of them had suspension issues too. How was your previous Jeep for problems?
Thank you! I really do not want to manage a trailer. You are correct, it just complicates the entire process. The upside is we are no longer constrained by driving a vehicle that can be flat towed. I still prefer flat towing, but we do need to consider all options at this point. Our previous Jeep, standard Wrangler, was perfection. We never had an issue. 😀
Love our 38 ft Class A diesel pusher towing a 4x4 GMC Canyon... Love the RV lifestyle... But driving it day after day is another story for us... Basically a white-knuckle experience for hours on end... Certainly not what I would consider a vacation or fun thing to do... Hope your experience is more favorable...
Generally we have had good experiences when we boondock at Cracker Barrels. I will just say, be aware of the location and your surroundings. Sometimes these places are right off the highway and become a little less safe at night.
Toyotas are way better than your Jeep. Jeep has changed hands multiple times in the past 20 years. My brother loves his 95 wrangler but newer ones have lots of issues, especially electrical. We tow a 2003 Saturn Ion quad coup and we've bought a 2014 Honda CRV(Last year they were flat towable), to replace the Saturn when it does. Lol Your RV is beautiful. Safe travels.
Thanks! Yeah unfortunately Toyotas are not flat towable. It's a shame because we agree that the quality is much better. We have a few months to decide since it'll take a while to get through this lemon law process
Owned 3 Jeeps but no more. My last 2023 Jeep was ALWAYS broken and in the shop. Not surprised at all about your Jeep troubles! Get something different than a Jeep.
Yeah we liked our Wrangler and never had an issue but not great as a daily driver. We were hopeful the GC would work out, but won’t buy any Stellantis product again after this experience
There aren't many vehicles to choose from for flat towing. When we bought our motorhome, I was disappointed to find out we couldn't flat tow my wife's GMC Acadia Denali.
Our first toad was a Wrangler. It was great for towing, never had an issue. 45k miles towed. We decided (maybe wrongly…) that we wanted something a littler large since it is our only vehicle. We went with Jeep GC because we had such a great experience with our Wrangler…. As they say, the rest is history. 😀
If you guys are spending enough to geta trackhawk cherokee might as well get a more nicer german suv like a merc gle or bmw x5 or go for a much more reliable suvfrom something like a toyota but one thing is for sure that you guys need a trailer otherwise ur cars are gonna keep getting damaged
Re-watched...you use Roku cameras for outside video monitoring. Assume you use the Roku appliance for streaming as well? Are they interconnected? We were at the CA State Pismo Beach campground a couple of months ago...had our 2 Lectric bikes stolen, they were secured with a cable...might work for the casual thief, but worthless for the bolt cutter carrying determined burglar! Motion camera's may be an option?
The Roku cameras are just another app in the Roku appliance. They work really well and I like that they are portable, so for example, I could set them near the bikes or anywhere outside depending on the campsite. They do have motion detection, but that requires a monthly subscription.
Jeep states "we don't know this never happened before" I owned a KIA hybrid back in the day and got the same response from a dealer when the car started to fail mechanically. It turned out they did know the issue and most motors carried faulty bolts within their motors through several years of production; hence the major lawsuit people made to the manufacturer and won. It seems car manufactures will deny till a certain amount fail or multiple deaths occur. The car industry is corrupt, the testing is corrupt through paid interests, and it places the American people and abroad at a serious risk. My point, never buy first year production, never buy a vehicle brand with a history of denials and lawsuits. Hint, hint..
Wipe your jacks down with WD40 and see if that makes a difference. This is the common solution. We did replace the springs on our last motorhome, but it was 20 years old.
We do that and keep them clean. I think it is the spring(s). It has been slow since we first purchased the RV, but lately it has become a consistent problem. Should be an easy fix. 😀
@@fuelyourwanderCaterpillar makes a hydraulic oil additive that may help with sticky seals (which may be what’s slowing retraction). We love our American Coach Diesel pusher and usually alternate dry camping with the generator and using full hookups. Less wasted travel time dry camping. Haven’t run into safety issues but we’re in the Southwest. Nice Rig!
Coincidentally, I have had the same issue with the same jack location (passenger rear) on our American Coach, a 2022 American Dream 42V. If the jacks are down for more than an overnight stop, the one jack takes longer to retract. Tapping lightly with a hammer speeds up the process. I'm going to also look into Maverick Welding's suggestion to use Caterpillar's hydraulic oil additive. Sticky seals make sense as I keep the jacks clean and wiped down. Separately, after much consternation, we decided to trailer tow versus flat towing. As you noted, the flat towing choices are becoming increasingly limited especially outside of the Stellantis/Jeep product line. We intend to purchase an Aviator or Explorer next year; current vehicle is an Expedition. With respect to trailer storage, it has yet to be an issue but then again, we stay at parks that have overflow parking or adequate site length. The trailer is a Legend 18 ft tilt car hauler with an upgraded 5200# tandem axle. It tracks beautifully and the only time I know it's behind the MC is going up a significant grade.
Curious that we have the same slow jack. Makes me wonder if there is a tight bed or even a kink in that particular line due to the design of the frame.
Exactly. If we had a trailer we could own any vehicle and just park it on the trailer. Most vehicles cannot be flat towed, so it limits your choice of vehicles.
@@fuelyourwandernice thing about a trailer as well is that you can backup with vehicle on a trailer where you obviously can’t do that with your flat toad, plus you dont have the wear and tear on your tow vehicle!
I'm looking at a couple of coaches, 1 with 450hp the other with 605hp. How is your 450 in the mountains. I know your not pulling anything right now but even a 3200# car would be noticable. What is your opinion please.
We have the 605hp and one of the main reasons we bought our American Coach I is it came standard. When pulling our Jeep, it does great through the mountains. Had a stacker trailer before and it pulled that with no issues. If you’re looking at a 45’ Coach, highly recommend getting the 605. The 450 is not enough power in my opinion for that size vehicle
Only bc we stayed one night passing through. We had planned to stop for a few days but after our Jeep broke down, it got more complicated so changed our plans a bit 😍

You guy's do a great job!
Thank you so much!
Pedestal Princess gang!
😀
I drive a Kia and love it. We are a Kia family we have a Sportage and a Forte. I have driven Kia for a long time and they have been great cars and SUV's.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing. I think the KIA looks like a great car. I just need to convince Hillary!
KIAs are the number one car brand to get stolen around the Seattle area where we live. New ones may have a better security system but that is my main reason to not buy one.
@@fuelyourwanderkeep a steering wheel lock for any kia/hyundai, nissan/infinity, Jeep/Chrysler/Dodge esp if they dont have push start button.
Omg,I just googled 900 miles and it's 1,450kms, that's a huge distance to drive mate 😊
You are right, it is a lot but we love the freedom of being on the road!
@ I once drove from Broken Hill to Maleny in QLD in 19 hrs with my ex wife, just swapped out when we were tired and only stopped for fuel and food
Must be a few days ago before Breckinridge got 7” snow. The slopes got 30”+.
Sounds like it’s time to hit the slopes!
My Son & his family live in Iowa x
Back in the mod 1800's, Ogallala was a big deal because it was a major mail hub. 🙂 Where are your gloves? 🤨 Axel looks like a sweet boy dog... 💗 Y'all be careful!
interesting - a major mail hub. Axle is as spoiled as spoiled gets. 😀
I have towed jeeps for 25 years. No issues so far
That was our experience on the last Jeep. I truly believe we just got a lemon on this one.
Hi! Do you have the link to the Roku cameras you use? Which suction cup holder do you use for the cameras? Thank you in advance!
Sure. Here is the camera (a.co/d/eRer8e4 ) and the suction cup (a.co/d/2J0FFIa ).
Hi Hilliary, You did a nice start to the video with the travel plan. However it would be great if you can explain the travel plan when you mark the stop overs on a Google map (without giving the exact location just highlighting cities)
Great idea! Thanks 😀
Great vlog..Great ride!
Thank you for watching! 😀
Haha.
We use the Open Roads discount card. We have a link to it in our Biosite. It works great for us.
@fuelyourwander thank you so much for your help❤️❤️
Happy help. Reach out or email if you have any questions in the future. Good luck!
@fuelyourwander Thank you so much❤️ I may take you up on that😘
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video!
I hope to travel the U.S. with you in your RV one day! We have a Newmar… You are awesome as a host!
Please do!
@@fuelyourwander Do you have a plan for 2025 trip?😄
Always love your videos ❤
Thanks for the support ❤️❤️❤️
Good night
Love your videos.. curious why you don’t put the slides in before disconnecting the electric? Got rid of my Jeep, now tow a 2014 Honda CRV
Usually Hillary is still inside finishing up while I finish electric. It’s just the best routine for us as we work together.
love watching your travels from the UK, the space and open roads you guys have out there is so different from our pokey little island. Those outdoor camera's you have fitted that you can monitor from inside look great, do you have more info on them?
Thank you! The cameras are made by Roku. They work great, battery operated, and easily connect with Roku TV.
am I the only one who thought you were sitting on your dog during her VPN ad? Looked like a paw sticking out. Hahaha Took me a minute to realize it was your foot. Keep up the great videos guys.
😂 nope just my foot!
I have driven 2 million dollar Newell coaches but I still like my $200k Winnebago Adventure 35F RV much more.
I’m not surprised, the Winnebagos have a great history of quality.
Was it the Winnebago or the fact that it was only 35 ft. I think the perfect setup would be a 35ft DP!
Have you tried Albanese Gummy bears? Way better than Black Forest and Haribo. They taste fruity not just sweet and sugary try them I think you will agree..
Never tried them - but I will now! Thanks.
new viewer here awesome video and dam thats a nice coach
Thank you for watching! 😄
I hope you visit the Thomas Dambo troll in Breckenridge. He has trolls all over the United States and the world.
Long days for me are 500 to 600 miles
That motor home is a beautiful unit, BUT, A TT is the way to go ... not as much to worry about...
TTs do have some advantages - including lots of space.
The Ford Maverick is supposed to be a great TOAD. I have one, a hybrid, but am not towing it. I’m towing a Spark 5-speed.
Definitely looking into Ford options!
Like watching you both loving couple
You are too kind. Thank you!
I got rid of my 2023 Jeep GC L due to electrical issues and a couple of other things. Get something other than Stellantis products.
Good advice. Stellantis is really in big trouble these days….
Seems like a bus with no slide outs & couch might be easier to deal with.
Definitely easier for traveling! But harder to live in full time with less space
Can you expand on the problem you had at the Cracker Barrel please.
Generally we have had good experiences when we boondock at Cracker Barrels. I will just say, be aware of the location and your surroundings. Sometimes these places are right off the highway and become a little less safe at night.
I like some of the Kia's as well. Why can't they be flat towed? All electric seems like it would be a nice change.
None of the electric vehicles - as far as I know - can be flat towed. They are just not designed in that way.
There aren’t any new Toyotas that are flat towable currently. In fact, you are very limited on the car models that are flat towable.
@
Toyota 4-Runner
We now flat tow a Buick Encore gx, love it.😊
Those damm Dutch owned jeeps. I wish it was still an American company
My friend had to write her brand new jeep as a LEMON...
There aren't many vehicles to choose from for flat towing. When we bought our motorhome, I was disappointed to find out we couldn't flat tow my wife's GMC Acadia Denali.
Exactly. Your options become very limited…
OMG. Poor you!!! We are not happy with these jeep situation!!!
And, get a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. We’ve towed ours many thousands of miles without issue. The easiest to hook up!
Rv life sounds like sailing ⛵️. Something always needs repairing or maintaining! 😢
Very, very true!
What roku cameras do you have outside?
Standard roku outdoor cameras. We have a link ti then in our Amazon store
Its a trailhawk, not a trackhawk.
@@fuelyourwander thanks for the quick response! I'll check the Roku eco, thanks! Hope SoCal is treating you well 😀
I can't believe you said that no kia
Noted Ill stick with Honda everyone i know that buys Jeep has problems at least your RV is doing well
Jeep states "we don't know this never happened before"
I owned a KIA hybrid back in the day and got the same response from a dealer when the car started to fail mechanically.
Nice Rig!
Thanks for the tip. I will look into that! Hope you enjoy your American Coach as much as we do!
My friend had the worst luck with her BRAND NEW JEEP, they finally deemed it a Lemon.
She lost a lot of $$$$. Good luck with yours.
I fear we will be in the same boat!
Curious, what do you need a trailer for? Would you tow that instead of a vehicle?
You pronounced Ogallala correctly. Next time you're in Nebraska, get a Runza. Everyone needs to try one once. They are excellent.
👍It’s a tough one to pronounce! Runza.. It looks delightful! I could use one right now for breakfast. 😀
Try a Toyota tacoma. Some are flat towable.
None that I have seen are flat towable.
👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Think about Honda CR-V
I could not imagine crossing the country in a covered wagon
💯 We often talk about the hardships they must have endured to get across the country! 🙏
Thanks, that is my first choice to. We are going Monday to look at a Newmar London Air
If you forget about Iowa, I can't stay subscribed to your channel. 😊
Only bc we stayed one night passing through. We had planned to stop for a few days but after our Jeep broke down, it got more complicated so changed our plans a bit 😍
Honda is good car
