I’m in 2 minds about it. Can blame tenants, but lack of housing, massive competition for jobs, the higher rates landlords need to pay if they have a mortgage is a contribution to rent prices so yes do have a little compassion for landlords.
As a property owner. I walk through the property as a potential tenant to see what conditions I am giving them and if they expect me to maintain it for them but the rent is how it is paid for. So if I don't get the rent then I will be taking my time to do the maintains. We get damage deposits and we return it if they don't damage my property. And I remind them that they did a walk through and I have video and photos. I have evicted ppl and I laugh at them when they come back after not finding a place like they had for the amount that I was charging for rent. So I then tell them that rent is now tripled and damage deposit is tripled as well. Some people just don't know what they have until they are walking the streets and couch surfing 😂

The lady in Lewisham waited until contact was made by the bailiffs. She was no doubt advised to do so by Lewisham Council as a stipulation for getting council housing. The same happened to us when we rented to a couple in Lee, London and in an area also administered by Lewisham Council who in mine opinion are dishonest and insincere. Following that experience we sold our flat to a private individual and moved away from the UK.

No one that owns a property should not get there Rent money on time. As they have bills to pay And tenants should respect other peoples property I know things can go wrong And the government is partly to Blame.
People don't realise just how bad the business is. It might be alright for landlords that are making hundreds of thousands like any normal business but for small time landlords it's really bad and the moment you start losing money everything can spiral downhill so it's very risky.
The government is fully to blame. They shouldn’t have given massive discounts for those ex council houses.

UK is a country where landlords are treated as 6th class citizens. The snails have more legal rights. They have invest their hard earn money in providing homes to homeless where the tories/labour government's have failed to provide. But the laws are such that the tenants have all the rights and it is literally impossible to evict antisocial or non paying tenants. The draconian laws brought in by tories the landlord are forced to give their properties rent free for years before the court would evict. The law hates landlords and bring more and more eviction restriction laws. The judges are anti landlords and look for any excuse to throw out an eviction courts.

The man with the 81-year old mother? Him feeling sorry for this woman who cost his mom over $10,000£ while she has kept up her extensions? These are their priorities. My renters bought a $1250 puppy, and drove 6 hours one-way to pick it up, instead of paying their rent. Priorities! That puppy, their 2 cats I didn't know about and their teenage son destroyed our property to the tune of $18,000. We sold our beautiful home. Never again!

There's a change of law needed. Landlords should be able to attach arrears against the tenants tax number ? and get arrears in installments until paid !! That's what would happen, if you owed tax arrears 😘

The lady in Lewisham waited until contact was made by the bailiffs. She was no doubt advised to do so by Lewisham Council as a stipulation for getting council housing. The same happened to us when we rented to a couple in Lee, London and in an area also administered by Lewisham Council who in mine opinion are dishonest and insincere. Following that experience we sold our flat to a private individual and moved away from the UK.
Jonathan, where did you move to and did you find some peace living there? I live in the USA and I'm re-locating back home to the UK next Spring. After watching a lot of these videos I really don't know where to put my roots down any more. I'm from Northumberland. Evie.
@@Katsarecool-d6m We moved back to Madrid where we had lived. Life is less complicated and councils, businesses and bureaucracy in general are more manageable. Also the quality of the food is better and the people are, in my opinion, a little nicer.

in the UK tenants have more rights than landlords. They can go to the council office or court and plead hardship and the council will try to bully the landlord to let them stay. If you get squatters in the UK, consider your property lost. It's a miracle getting it back and if you do get it back, it will be destroyed
When the Labour government enact new laws giving much greater rights to tenants ,if you’re a landlord be worried, be very worried.

Pub owed £40,000 because business was terrible since lock down with COVID. After that, business went down hill. He's probably hoping business might turn around. But there is no turn around. Only down hill. Failing to cut your loss and you end up in the gutter or worse. This will be across the board for majority of businesses.
In the future, when banks and financial institutions fail, homes will be repossessed and homelessness will sky rocket. With those still in mortgages, they will be repossessed because bankrupt financial institutions starts BAIL INS. There will no longer be any bail outs because they can't do any bail outs.
