If the tenants claim to have travelled to court with 5k to pay the landlord, that's an admission of their debt.

Exactly and if they really believed she stole $45k of their stuff where is the police report of theft and why wld u be willing to hand over 5k if u feel she owes u 45k load of crap

Oh what a lovely day. The tenants can't believe they've come to a country that is so generous. They get free rent, the deposit back and get generous benefits.

  • @thekingtroll2

Two items. First, why didn't the judge ask to see receipts for their claim of $45,000 worth of stolen items? Secondly, although they were kicked off the councils list, why didn't the council go after them if they had $5,000 in their account to pay rent? They were clearly scamming the council and Kate. They need jail time.

Willing to bet that was landlords who kept believing the tenants excuses for months. You have to start court proceedings the minutes you can once they are behind - no excuses. If they think you are too nice - they will take advantage.

    • @erinw8787
      @erinw8787 ปีที่แล้ว

@@davisholman8149 not even always that- a lot of people just truly don’t seem to understand how basically impossible it is to catch back up. They may have every intention of paying it back but guaranteed it won’t happen- because if they have the sort of money to pay that months rent plus catch up on last months - why would they be missing a payment in the first place ?
Getting it dealt with quickly is best for both parties.

You would need big kaunas to be a residential landlord-or nieve. Depending on the section of the rental market a landlord is pitching their property, headaches and sleepless nights come with the territory. In a rising property market a capital gain is often possible. This is long haul usually and can ameliorate some of the effects of delinquent tenants. At some point, investing in Government Bonds, is far less of a headaches especially if an investor is not chasing max returns.

I am a former landlord and let me tell you that I am not anymore because it is NOT an easy thing getting squatters out. I dont know where you live, maybe Florida because they are the only state with a new law that gets rid of squatters straight away now.

Here in Arizona, USA - you can get a tenant out in 6 weeks! Landlords do not deserve to be used so these deadbeats get a free place to live for months on end.! Why don’t the good people of the UK fight this B.S.😡

So this tenant is on housing benefit, disabled husband, and has £40k worth of furniture and had £5k in the bank, I think HMRC need to check this with a forensic accountant. However I know this is an old video, as the cafe they were counting money is has changed hand in 2019. I bet the landlord didn't even have landlords insurance, legal and rent guarantee insurance, no referencing/credit checks on the tenant (landlord insurance wont pay out anything without this!), or a proper inventory, all a must if you are a landlord! Too many hard working landlords, saving hard to invest in their future are being mugged off by tenants who know how to work the system.

The laws they have are bizarre, the tenants that dont pay rent, create thousands of pounds of damage, cause severe stress to the landlords and the tenants seem to have more rights than the landlords that actually own the properties..its Ridiculous! The landlords have to pay their own mortgage, the mortgage for the place these tenants are living in,while the tenants arent paying rent, then the Landlord has to pay them their deposit back before the next step in the process can be done..SMH, its overwhelming for sure!! Ive never lived anywhere and not paid my rent!!

It doesnt makes sense to rent out properties in UK & also US just sell the property & keep a small profit

These oxygen thieves will be doing this again to some other poor soul. Paul is the boss of all bosses regarding this business, that is undeniable, but I’d still try paying some hard, pipe hitting ****as to ‘persuade’ the tenants to move back to which ever country they hailed from first.

I'm curious if these tenants are holding a degree in how to occupy a rental at no charge. I have a feeling they have done this before, and will do this again. There's needs to be a list of tenants who ambitiously commit these crimes. Which is what's happening in these circumstances. Absolute mockery of any justice.

As much as I feel for the landlord that want to be paid her rent, she did some huge mistakes. Why did she not put the deposit in the trust which they have to do by law? And also why did she take it upon herself to change the locks without any legal advice? This to me is a bit dodgy on the landlords side. Though the tenants might be a pain in the ass, they have rights as well.

Tenant #1 - if one cannot afford rent, don't use money for cigarettes, don't have one child after the other; not landlord problem your husband has neck issues. Tenant #2 - they took advantage of a caring and medically ill landlord. They use children for pity. Just wanted money. Liars they are. Landlords should always do things by the law, as one small thing, gives these deadbeat tenants an edge. Get everything in writing, recorded and through agents if possible.

How do the tenants get away with it... surely the law should be on the side of the landlord..they bought the property and it's their house/flat...these scumbags seem to have it all going there way...as in all the tenants in this series....hard to understand how they get away with it....the law stinks.

Gosh all of the UK streets etc look so rundown. It's like a 3rd world country. A student colleague wants to finish study here in Oz then go work for the NHS. I said good luck with that - the whole of the UK is in a mess !

Deposit protection being ignored by landlord so they can pocket it, gains no sympathy from me. You want tenant to follow the rules but you the landlord ignore basic legal requirements 😠😠😠

She did not look like someone going to keep deposit. She looked like someone being taken advantage of due to death of her landlord experienced husband.

5 days late and a 'notice to quit' should be posted on the door. Why wait? If you have to go thru eviction courts it gives the landlord a headstart...

Legally my guess is that they are allowed to do what they did and the judge is just following the law.
