    This amp sounds phenomenally awesome. Everything is so tight. The clean channel sounds amazing too. Love it, wish it was more affordable.

    I don’t have time for this but I have to watch. I’m such a tone chasing lunatic. That amp sounds ridiculous. I love it.

    2 years ago I was undecided between a SLO and a Mark V. The SLO is awesome, but I'm def happy I got a Mark V. I prefer an amp that doesn't need a boost ti sound tight.

    • @sir.shreddington
      @sir.shreddington  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That’s one of the main draws for me, so many different sounds and no boost needed. Oh yah…and 2c+!

      You don’t need a pedal to tighten this amp (or many other amps) up as long as you’re not using too much gain, with is a an all-out f**king epidemic with players today (one of Dave Friedman’s biggest complaints with players today). The crunch-channel maxed with the OD at 2-4 is incredibly tight, and percussive. Even in this video all the riff’s being played from the 80’s, he was using too much gain. Treat this amp like a Marshall and dime everything, and you’ll most likely hate it.

    Wow that Soldano sounds awesome!! The custom has a little more hair/grit- metal. The tone of the R8 sounds absolutely amazing and can do metal and sound better. It really is the amp that matters the most for metal. The R8 definitely wins in my book.

    • @sir.shreddington
      @sir.shreddington  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah dude the Soldano slays! And get this, yesterday I realized I hadn't changed strings on the R8 in months! Imagine how much clearer it would sound with a fresh set.

      @JayRoc17 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sir.shreddington Just wasn't loving the tone from the custom but maybe needs different pickups? Does one of the two Gibs play much better than the other?

    • @sir.shreddington
      @sir.shreddington  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They both play really nicely with the custom neck carve being more slim tapered and modern. The R8 really does have mojo though, and I absolutely love those custom buckers. If I'm being honest, I'm most likely keeping both!

      Jason, sorry I just realized it is a SS amp, I thought it was the BE.

    • @sir.shreddington
      @sir.shreddington  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@xdiaba I think the same would hold true with the BE because it has the same system layout as the BE deluxe. The clean channel is different though and I like it more on the SS.

    Majestic doesn’t even begin to describe this amp…. That plexi/crunch channel is a f**king masterpiece of crisp, ultra-percussive, mid-focused bliss. You just have to be a bit careful not to overdo it with the gain or it get’s a bit fizzy, and loses articulation.

    • @sir.shreddington
      @sir.shreddington  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally agree. The touch sensitivity along with the trademark smoothness…can’t beat it!

    Your 58 sounded incredible. It sounds clearer with better note separations to my ears. I've noticed you were more comfortable playing it than you did with the custom (of course you can answer that better than me, it's just my observation watching you play both of them). I had the same dilemma between my two beloved Gibson Les Pauls, a '91 classic and '97 standard. Both are fantastic sounding guitars and wanted to get rid of one to get me a Gibson Les Paul custom. I just couldn't decide between the two and I knew the moment I get rid of one will have me a massive regrets. I still have both guitars and decided the custom is not better than them after trying out lots over the years. I guess cause I'm more accustomed now to how they feel and sound.

    • @sir.shreddington
      @sir.shreddington  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The 58 really is an amazing guitar. Acoustically it's the loudest out of all of my guitars- the mids are really pronounced on it. The Carmelita neck profile is really comfy in my hands too. I actually have it listed right now on Reverb, and I know I'll regret it if it sells! I kind of hope it doesn't sell, but I did just buy a high end ESP and something has to go...

  • @peterhenderson2193
    @peterhenderson2193 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Man those are both really nice guitars. I feel like you'd regret selling either of them. If anything, sell or trade the SLO to fund the Mark VII if you really have to scratch that itch. It may still equal regrets but at least you can replace it with an identical SLO down the road.

    Jason, if you have to go between that Friedman and this SLO, what would you choose?

    • @sir.shreddington
      @sir.shreddington  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Xavier. That's a tough call because both amps are awesome in their own right. I'll answer your question comparing the SLO 100 / Friedman SS because the difference in price is negligible between the two making it a more fair comparison. Between the 30 and the Friedman there is about a $1200 - 1500 difference which could be a huge factor for someone.
      That being said, I would personally go with the Friedman. For the simple fact that I can use the SS+ channel as a solo boost in a live setting- since it has its own master. If you need a volume boost for lead work and you're using the Soldano, you'd need a clean boost in front or in the loop to get you that extra volume to cut through. Which is no big deal if you already have one and it's on your pedal board. In the studio, or at home it's not really an issue. The clean channel on the Friedman is seriously just amazing too...like super amazing.
