    It's definitely doable, you just need to carry a bit more momentum and try one gear higher so you're not spinning as much. We have a similar climb at one of our local trails that is off camber and has a spot at the top you have to turn slightly right and then immediately left as you cross a large root. It took me 6 rides, 3 attempts each ride, and trying a different gear on several attempts before I finally made it. Now I make it 99% of the time, the 1% is if the trail is wet from rain, then the root is too slick.
    Don't give up!

      I agree. Lower pressure, more gear, higher speed and some knee pads for confidence.

    • @jordandunlop5629
      @jordandunlop5629 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      lower pressure; is actually faster for rollovers on rocks feature..etc. higher pressure will bounce you over features, rocks and rollovers making you slower and make the front end chatter.

    Hey man, good videos....and might be getting Roscoe 8 because of you to replace my old and worn 7000 from 90s finally. It was either do build of glory on her with forks, headset, stem, riser, handlebars, sing drive 11 or 12 speed, brakes, bearings, seat, grips, etc.....or buy a Roscoe 8. LOL Anyhow while I was watching your attempts....my eye kept pulling me towards a more central route...at 3:03 there is one rock that is darker but steeper... Ithink I would try to take that one straight on and let suspension and lift on front end take me over without any direction change needed to rob momentum. Then load and hop rear slightly to pull over behind you and then straight on. I may be totally wrong but I kept looking at that line on your attempts. Good luck...

    I haven't been on that trail but it looked like there was a line that was higher up than the one you were trying and it didn't require that turn in the middle of it. In fact you took the high line on your way down. If you try it again take a look at that other line.
    Thanks for posting these videos!!!

    I definitely seen a tall gentleman doing it with ease two months ago. Winters Matthew is one of my favorite parks. You could tell he was technically savory they way he picked each rock and balance his bike with the right amount of momentum and power. Always fascinated with the guys who can climb these difficult rock piles.

    Try again with the Remedy IMHO. The full suspension, more nimble low speed handling, and slightly easier pedaling of the 27.5 wheels may let you get enough power down to get up it.

    I bought the same maxxis tan wall tires and only lasted me a week before I got a bead tear front and rear. I love the tan look so I had to go with Schwalbe bronze in the super gravity casing and oh man what a difference. So much more confidence in my riding

    Hi Marty! Does your area gets lots of wind? Here I get the see breeze all the time as I am close to the ocean in norther California. Also, I have been looking for Roscoe 9 frame only. I like to built it from scratch. I like the color but the frame trek has online store is not the one of Roscoe 9. Dang it. Have you try Maxxis assegai front and Maxxis DHR II? Try using clip shoes. It will help you power it up.

    I saw your other video when you attempted it. This video one does look like some of the dirt washed away revealing more rocks.
    I was looking at the line you wanna take, which looks hard because of the slight left turn once you get up.
    However from your camera angle there was a different line which was to the left. It looks like a steeper incline However once you make it up, it looks like a more direct and easier line. The left line looks tricky but I think if you put up enough speed and then pop up your front (like your gonna do a wheelie) to get up the steep section then just plow straight through.
    I think you can do. The line you want to do requires you to lifting the back wheel, which is hard to do on the steep incline.
    I'm sure you can do it. But maybe try the left steep line. Also try it without filming because it puts alot of pressure. Once you do make it up and are comfortable doing it then film it.
    Also, lower your tire pressures a little to get more grip. The grip is key to getting through the tech section of rock.

  • @rickviramontes2317
    @rickviramontes2317 ปีที่แล้ว

    Try the Remedy 8 next. The smaller 27.5 wheel might be easier to maneuver in that tight left turn.

    • @RotormanMTB
      @RotormanMTB ปีที่แล้ว

      to maneuver yes, but the 29er rolls easier over chunk - especially going up.

  • @gellis4
    @gellis4 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    More speed! your attempt @3:26 had a good line but the next attempt you were too far to the riders right and went up that rock face. Get on the pedals HARD while on the gravel before the rocks. 4th gear and give it some. You got it! Speed is king, you could drop a gear after the first punch if you needed to.

    • @michaelwhite5834
      @michaelwhite5834 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree that building some momentum is key to those hard uphills. You can't do anything without momentum. Let muscle and instinct do most of the work.

  • @mr.d7429
    @mr.d7429 ปีที่แล้ว

    Me thinks that with a short travel full suspension and having the possibility to put rear suspension at a platform setting where is not fully locked up nor fully open would help you to have more confidence cause it seems that a hardtail is too rough and too low allowing for pedal strikes! In my experience a full suspension has helped me to climb really techy sections that I was not able to clear with my hardtail at first!

    In the UK trails are classed as green easy / blue easy flowing/ red technical/ black hard /double black extremely hard / then double. Black diamond grade. The trail you tried to ride would be classified as double black

    • @mrvwbug4423
      @mrvwbug4423 ปีที่แล้ว

      That trail is a low end single black to descend, but definitely a double black tech climb to go up. I've ridden it myself but never even attempted to go up it haha.

  • @DavidPrgic

    It's not about pedaling up that tech. Practice your track stand and bunny hop skills, then go back and show us how use small hops to get over the bits where you came to a complete stop. You can use a Roscoe 8 but use the right technique, don't just try to keep pedaling and powering through it. Can't wait to see your new advanced skill set after a bit of practice
