      I agree. For instance, I'm 59, got all the Sabbath albums up until the Gillan era, watch Bryce rank the Sabs albums and was mystified to see Tyr ranked at the top. So now I'm getting all the post Gillan albums to see what i missed out on. Cant get Tyr and Headless cross on cd for less than a kings ransom it seems lol

    'Killing Is My Business' - chaos has rarely been as compelling as this classic. Mustaine with this album added so much to thrash vocabulary; touches of jazz and classical, a ferocious complexity presented in such a catchy way, and intriguing time changes and unique song structure. Perfected on subsequent records but thrillingly defined on this debut.
    The 2018 Final Kill remix/remaster presents the album perfectly. As visceral a listening experience now as it was in 1985. Peace Sells excels, but the raucous fire power on display here is as essential to the history of thrash.

      So heavy, intense, powerful, brutal, skilled, focused, mean, lean, vicious, murderous, loud, proud, captivating, relentless......yeah, The Ultra-Violence snapped necks and led to many promising musicians "not quitting their day jobs"! And I believe band members were in grade school and made the album at recess. Death Angel=gift that keeps on giving.

    Bryce was born when I was in high school and was one of the few kids in my school into this stuff. Metal was dead in the mid 90’s at least commercially in The U.S. If you told me back then somebody being presently born would be this knowledgeable about this stuff, I never would have believed it. Refreshing. I’m still discovering bands because of channels like his and Pete’s.

      Also want to add Coroner’s R.I.P. Not in my top 10 because it’s fairly new to me, but a great thrash debut I’ve discovered recently.

    • @Gregbaltzer
      @Gregbaltzer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'll never agree that metal was dead in the 90s. There was tons of popular metal bands. Fear Factory, Machinehead, Pantera, Danzig, White Zombie, etc. I would just say that thrash, glam, and classic metal were dead in the 90s commercially, but groove metal, death metal, alternative metal, funk metal, industrial metal, and Nu metal, were becoming very popular forms of heavy music commercially. Metal became so much more diverse and fresh in the 90s. I grew up on thrash in the 80s but I was totally bored shitless of it by the 90s and sold pretty much all my thrash cassettes except Slayer.

    • @metaldams78
      @metaldams78 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I liked Pantera and Danzig, the rest of those bands never did it for me. I was getting into more traditional stuff in the 90’s and nu metal I didn’t care for at all. Commercially, things got a little better in the late 90’s, but forms of metal I didn’t care for. I like riffs and guitar solos more than groove and diversity for metal, but to each their own.
      I know there’s a lot of music out there and I’m sure I’ll discover good stuff from the 90’s in the future, but living through it, as a teenager, in my area - there weren’t many people even into the bands you mentioned.

      Check out PostMortem “Coroner’s Office and The Missing Link ep @‘86 if you like that style please; back in 1988, my band was actually supposed to occupy the same spot as Possessed had on. It’s an ok live one with them; Faith Or Fear and Dark Angel after they get rid of Donny who’s entire life circled around alcohol and blow ( we were label-mates before being screwed over by New Renaissance records in 84. We Have Arrived is on this).From the time it’d taken us to realize that? Too Late! They’re re-formed with the lead 🎤 from Sigh from what I heard; but we were picked up by Relativity and a new Lp entitled “Destined For Failure” @‘ 93 was put out alongside our first 3 albums. The two I mentioned plus “Festival Of Fun”@‘ 89; and eventually all 4 were re-released by the label; now owned by Sony. Sadly my 🎤 more importantly BFF John McCarthy passed away in 2009, just short of our 8th 💿 that was to be titled “Anadohnia” ( he died 3wks before flying out to Seattle WA. to put finishing tracks on it for all of the vocals. I’m sure had we signed w/ Metal Blade instead of the former; you’d definitely know who we were ( that contract came a few weeks after stupidly signing with the first major league 🏷 and we were just kids not knowing what happened to unsuspecting players such as ourselves. Sad but true. Sincerely yours, DJP ex PostMortem and Kilslug USA 🇨🇳 Amerikkka of course., 😉

      PostMortem’s Coroner’s Office in 1986 USA band should’ve been on anybody’s radar if ya wanna know just where the beginning of this Doom Metal genre came from. The Missing Link ep would follow it in Feb.86 as the original Lp sat on the shelves and had been done in the early 80’s. Thank ya now! Sincerely yours truly, DJP ex PostMortem and Kilslug USA

    Great lists from both, not a bad album in there! I'd say my taste is a bit more leaning towards Bryce's. Great to see him pick Toxik, Target, Protector and Anacrusis! Didn't expect to see any of them mentioned here. And also, seeing Show No Mercy warms my heart. My favorite Slayer album. And at the same time I'm surprised to see no mention of Sacred Reich or Nuclear Assault.
    My no. 1 is None Shall Defy by Infernäl Mäjesty, followed by Coroner's R.I.P. Would have been nice to see Sadus, Hellwitch, Watchtower and even Vektor. But I can't argue with either of their lists, every album mentioned deserves to be included. So many masterpieces to choose from.

      @@hughjoelcock7145 I definitely wouldn't replace Tankard & Zombie Attack, but I also definitely wouldn't argue with Razor. That Armed & Dangerous ep is classic. I haven't actually listened to it (but I will!), but I do own their debut lp, Executioner's Song, which shares a few of the songs on this ep. I love that debut lp & it is on my top 20 thrash debut list.

Eric Peterson is sooo underrated as Testament is , he writes the songs , best rhythm trash guitarist among with James and Dave , he also have really cool solos .. and 33 years later their last album Titans of Creation just amazes me how legendary they still are.
