"Money Machine" started as just a bare track from on of my pre-production recordings. I REALLY liked the feel and reached out to Joe to finish it up. Slated for my TH-cam channel (every true fan should visit) it eventually became part of "Ghost Stories".
I remember hearing the audio preview on Apple Music and liking the feel of it too, super excited to hear the full song! Just subscribed to your channel too, can't wait to dive into more of your stuff!
What a delightful interview! Incredible that Joe wasn't confident in So Supernatural at the time, to advance it for album consideration. Our local AOR station, KGON-FM in Portland, loved BOC and would have spun the absolute hell out of that song. I'm grateful it's finally found the light of day now and that I'm still around to hear it.
It’s exciting to hear a new Blue Oyster Cult album with the original members on it and yes Allen was a great musician- keyboard player -guitarist all around rock and roll character. I grew up a fan of the band and have seen them live many times including their laser arena tours. Nice interview… I remember Joe did an amazing bass solo on the Mirrors tour I think, one of the best for sure. 👍
Very cool interview. I’ve been a big fan of BÖC for over four decades now. I like how you you started with the now newly released album and ended with the whole “Astronomy” story. Interesting stuff, indeed. Indubitably. I know every Blue Öyster Cult album very well, so now l will have to dive into the solo work of each member of the band. I knew about Joe’s work with Blue Coupe, but not his solo band. Looking forward to hearing all of that stuff. Thanks again for a great interview. Cheers from The Big Apple. 🍎 Rock Out, Prog On and Pogo! Your interweb pal and mine, ~ The Dreaded, Shredded and Unleaded Davey Cretin from CRETIN CLASSICS.
Thanks so much for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and as a lifelong BÖC fan myself (I'm a little younger so it's only been about two decades for me, but still 😂), I was really trying to ask some questions that the hardcores would want to hear but most interviewers wouldn't think of. I had a great time talking with Joe about all sorts of aspects to his career, and I didn't think of how I started in the present and ended with the past until you mentioned it! Again I'm glad you enjoyed the interview, cheers from eastern North Carolina! Hope you're able to see BÖC and the Bouchards up in NY or around the tri-state area soon! 🙏🤘
I met brother Al in 1965, our freshman year in engineering school. I met Joe quite a while later. Buck Dharma was my dorm neighbor. The three of us started a frat/bar band that lasted two years until Buck and Al left school to eventually become BOC. Those were the days, my friend!
Hey! Great interview! Do we yet have any sort of definitive guide as to when each of the songs on Ghost Stories were recorded - and for which album project? I’d love to know! I can sort of guess at times based on drum sounds and sonics, but it’s still hard to tell for sure.
Hey, thanks so much for watching! I haven't seen anything yet as to what era each song is assigned to, but my CD hasn't arrived yet and I really hope it might be in the liner notes somewhere. If not, I might have some more research to do - I have a good feeling about some of them, but like you said, there's no way to know for sure unless there's some sort of reference from the band/label
@@DeadNoiseBlogI just got my vinyl of it yesterday and there really aren’t any liner notes indicating the dates of the original recordings, unfortunately. Just the songwriters.
Thanks so much for watching! I hate interrupting people, and as a fan it bothers me to hear the guests getting cut off mid-answer so much (which is likely due to timing constraints of some sort, but still), so I always try to stay conscientious of that whenever I do interviews. I'm happy that people like you notice that, glad you enjoyed the interview 🙏🤘
Strange that he claims he didn’t re-record the vocal for So Supernatural. I’ve seen a few other interviews that claim Joe DID redo the vocal. I guess Joe would know.
Yeah I heard Eric say in an interview that Joe re-recorded So Supernatural too, but I think he might've just gotten it confused with one of the songs Joe actually did re-record 🤷🏻♂️
5. Soul Jive 6 Gun 7 Shot in the Dark 8 The Only Thing 9 Kick Out the Jams 10 Money Machine 11 Don't Come Running to Me The end of the record is strong point. I listen to it quite a bit. In contrast the song so supernatural certainly sounds unnatural. It sounds processed and weird. I dont care for it as much as I like tracks 5-11.

Not THAT dangerous, except at night....and we served lunch!........ "I just play the bass" This is true, and for me writes some cool songs to boot!
Hahaha I thought the songs were pretty good too! That neighborhood also sounds like some of the places where my friends from college lived
Good to see Joe talking about BOC.
It was great talking with him and I loved getting more insight on his years with Blue Öyster Cult, thanks for watching!
@@DeadNoiseBlogHe should tour with them again.
@@averyhugefan I'd love to see all of them onstage together at some point for sure!

I don't understand how ' So Supernatural ' did not make it on an album back in the day. Great song!
Dude you and me both, I thought it was awesome!
What album would it have been on? Spectres?
Vinyl space, that's got to be it. Lots of great material and you could put only so much time into a vinyl. This band is and has always been brilliant.
@@averyhugefan Revolution by Night, I'm pretty sure

Loved "curse of the hidden mirror", soft white underbelly, stalk forest group? Pre b.o.c.❤
@josephsmith393 love it all! Curse of the Hidden Mirror is one of my favorite BÖC albums too, highly underrated in my opinion 🤘
It didn't even dawn on me that Joe was singing the lead vocals on Supernatural
Surprise! 😂🤘
Great interview. Glad you let Joe talk. Too many interviews where people keep cutting off the guest and interrupting.
