God gave His creation a big help, the Word, to show us how He wants us to live. If we follow His perfect teachings, we all live with perfect peace, love, joy and unity. This is His perfect design for His children's lives. When we go against His perfect design for what we want, sin, we throw away that perfect plan. I am Japanese, but I learned about this food for the first time. I looked it up and found that it is an octopus egg and is eaten as a delicacy in northern Japan. The average Japanese probably don't know this food.
I’m Japanese but I’ve never seen this in all the years I’ve lived in Japan. I certainly wouldn’t call it Street Food. And I wish there was some kind of narration about the texture of the food, what it tastes like, etc.

At flirts i thought it was an extreme pale ostrich egg yolk. After he cut it open I thought it was an extremely big bug or amphibians egg. And than after being cooked it looked rice smashed together. But I’m relieved that I there was somebody who could tell me what kind of egg this was
I just got to know that an octopus lays eggs only once in its lifetime and she spends all her energy in caring for it and she dies around the time the eggs hatch 🥺😓 P.S. The fried version looks good. Japan is the single most interesting place on earth. I understand why they want to preserve their authenticity. I respect them. But for this meal, I think that’s a loss of a lot of octopuses, I know they’re not endangered, but still all those octopuses could feed much more people if they had the chance to grow. Also you know the octopuses die out of starvation while they’re protecting their eggs, we need to have at least a little respect for those creatures, I think. BTW, thanks for sharing the video.

In Southern Italy and in so many other italian regionals cuisines there's a very very similar recipe of fritters made with whitebaits (shirasu ).Shirasu is a very popular beloved food in Italy. Famous italian Shirasu recipes I know are fritters, omelettes, with pasta, steamed and fried. These in the video I think are like squid or octopuss shirasu and egg sacs. It is very delicious and the consumption is limitated by law.

We have a similar dish in Sicily (the fried one). We use a fistful of newborn microscopic fishes (so small you can't distinguish the single one) wrapped in pastry and deep fried, its considered a delicatessen, it tastes really good. It's called "nunnata" (from neonato = newborn). Well done Japan 💚

I’m actually a very adventurous eater but I’m not gonna lie... It would take some serious coaxing to get me to eat that. In raw form, it looks like a hairy sack of slimy maggots. Boiled or pan fried, it looks like extremely overcooked rice or pasta. The tempura fried version looks the most promising of all the preparations.

The fried version looks good. Japan is the single most interesting place on earth. I understand why they want to preserve their authenticity. I respect them. But for this meal, I think that’s a loss of a lot of octopuses, I know they’re not endangered, but still all those octopuses could feed much more people if they had the chance to grow. We have a similar dish in Sicily (the fried one). We use a fistful of newborn microscopic fishes (so small you can't distinguish the single one) wrapped in pastry and deep fried, its considered a delicatessen, it tastes really good. It's called "nunnata" (from neonato = newborn). Well done Japan 💚

I’m actually a very adventurous eater but I’m not gonna lie... It would take some serious coaxing to get me to eat that. In raw form, it looks like a hairy sack of slimy maggots. Boiled or pan fried, it looks like extremely overcooked rice or pasta. The tempura fried version looks the most promising of all the preparations.
For those who keep wondering wtf are those: It's octopus eggs.

If youre going to critique japanese food dont even bother watching. Respect the fact that they eat different foods.
We're not trying to be disrespectful you just have to see it from our perspective. Our brains really do have a hard time tryi ng to make out and understand how is this foods edible. We watch in amazement. Give us time to get, because this really is difficult. I watch all this stuff all the time and little by I beginning to able to watch without wanting to run, barf or something of that nature. I am actually looking forward to trying one of these foreign dishes one day. But, please have mercy 🙏🏽☺️ on us ❤.
