    “Didn’t want ice, didn’t want to risk it” Yaaassss girlll! I love educational and meaningful content. It’s not as well known as should be but when traveling, never drink tap water because your body can react to it in a bad way and you’ll get something similar to food poisoning. Whether it be the differences in bacteria or whatnot, better safe than sorry.

    • @abbyeley3741
      @abbyeley3741 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @mavel2038
      @mavel2038 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@abbyeley3741 I think that would depend on the country. In some countries, there may not be an issue but in others where there are differences with water quality/sourcing between cities and more rural areas, could have potential to make one ill.

      I don't think all countries drink tap water. In Vietnam, people are taught to always boil water or filter then boil water before using. Many families have water filtration system assembled. I didn't know people drank from tap water until I moved to Canada. I agree that the train condition was terrible.

    I went to Thailand and wasn’t careful about the ice and ate local food and got a bad stomach bug, so she knows what she’s talking about when she says “risk it”. She doesn’t mean it in a bad way, it is simply that in many foreign countries, their water has different bacteria that you’re not used to and it can make you sick. I’ve experienced it first hand so I think she made the right call.
    Okay but the fact that they didn’t wash anything in between people and it’s considered first class?! 🤢

      No, it IS dangerous bacteria, and a lot more infants die to it then infants dying in developed countries. And, you can never "get used" to all the diseases...there's a limit, and a lot more people die in poor countries like this from food poisoning then in the West. Also, not just the water... it's the food too, plus the unhygienic handling of it.

    I’m a Vietnamese who just experienced a full 24-hour day on the same kind of trip a week ago.
    For me, I wouldn’t call it first class. It’s just the most expensive option seat/bed on the train as it might provide the most comfortable experience. The other options are bed in a 6-bed room, and seat.
    For the next trip with the same distance, I will opt for plane. Faster, and the hygiene is better, and probably for the same price.
    The trip I had, it charged the same amount as a plane ticket of a cheap flight for the same destination.
    By the way, toilet is almost the same for every car, either a 4-bed car, 6-bed car or coaching, no better or worse.

    I thought that if anyone goes to a foreign country they have to be careful of the water because every country has different bacteria and if your body isn’t used to it, it can give you really bad stomach problems. Like if someone from anywhere travels to Mexico, you can get Montezuma’s Revenge because your not used to the bacteria. Just in case you were wondering why she didn’t use ice.

    vietnam water isn’t abnormal, i can’t speak from experience in asian countries themselves but i’ve known from a very young age in mexico to not drink the tap water or even brush my teeth with it. you order drinks without ice, as well. i’m not there enough to build an immunity to pollutants or water-borne illnesses. it’s more tolerance based than anything.

    Not sure about this being first class, but it might just be this specific train. Aunt works as the manager for the central train station in Hanoi and I've been on many train trips with my family, and there are better rooms than this. In recent times first class rooms are ones 2 2 beds (no upper bunk) that look and feel much nicer and more premium. This is abnormally subpar even for Vietnam, as sheets, blankets and pillows are changed after everytrip, and the bathroom certainly doesn't look that bad. Please don't be discouraged to try train travel in Vietnam from this 1 outlier, especially if you're in a larger groups and can book whole cabins to yourself. It's great fun!

    Y’all… water in there is often unsafe and usually unfiltered/ unsanitary for consuming. you can go right ahead and try drinking tap water there and very likely get stomach bug. For example in cheaper hotels with bad pipes they literally warn you not to drink/ flush mouth with tap water. It’s not being “privilege or squeamish” it really just a safety precautions. (Reason why coffee was fine because it was hot - thus means water was treated [boiled] )

You can sleep inside your duvet cover and use it like a light sleeping bag and you can fill your pillow case with some soft clothes. When you are done traveling you can dispose of your duvet cover and pillow case in the bin or donate it.
