- The Hilltop Song is a classic 1971, ground breaking commercial by Coca-Cola, that portrayed the message of world peace and unity through a video that brought together youth belonging to different cultures, on the top of a hill. On August 21, 2015, AIESEC's young leaders from 118 countries and territories gathered in India for the annual International Congress 2015 to prepare for their 2020 vision that will enable them to accomplish their long-term vision of 'peace and fulfilment of humankind's potential'. Don was in an era that was LONG before DEI.
I absolutely love this jingle and the positive message it sends. The only downside is that there is some very bad lip syncing in this commercial. We all know these people are not the actual singers but it should appear that they are.
Next year it willbe 50 years since this first came on tv. I was 5 or 6. and its still one of the best ads Ive ever seen and the best jingle ever.

This jingle really touched me when I was kid. I love what you've done here I just wish that you'd done one more take so the second girl in the video sings Apple Trees and Honey Bees instead of Apple Bees and Homey Bees.
Another generation grows up with a song that sends a message stronger than just buying a Coke. Bravo!
Maybe change it to "Doing Coke" instead of buying a Coke, that might be stronger...?
The New Seekers (original writers who did this song) would’ve been very proud.

The best that did Coke forever
Never will anyone be able to remake credible 1970's/80's images for we humans have changed and evolved in evident ways, physically, facial wise, posture wise aswell as the way we move our eyes. We immediately recognize our close generations when we see them. I read afterwards that it was a remake done in 2015, very well done, but being able to capture that original essence is impossible 🙏

No you can’t change the original! It messes up the whole joy of that song and that iconic ad. Really, you had to be around then in the early 70’s to understand the meaning of that ad.

Well we all know the original ad was greatly influenced by the Vietnam war but guess what, there are still fights and wars going on in this very moment so the message is still appropriate.

Hey Coca-Cola! Next year (2021) is the 50th Anniversary of this fantastic commercial. I was only 6 when I first saw it and it’s still my favourite commercial. So, how about a reprise in 2021?!

I like how they made it look like it was an old ad. They adjusted the color balance, added some clicks and dropped frames at the beginning as well as shifting the audio slightly so it looked like the lipsync was off for the first few seconds. Then they have the guy with the "I am Groot" t-shirt come in, and you suddenly realize that this is shot recently and just was made to look old. Clever.
(oh, and for those who complain that this was lip-synched... so was the original back in 1971!)
(and yes, I still prefer the original -- I'm just pointing out that there's more to this version than meets the eye at first glance)
It's actually very nice but yet I still love the original one of 1971. But I wish I could have been there this version cuz I was actually 5 years old in 1971.

There is so much negativity in this comment section toward Coca-Cola. I love Coca-Cola and have been drinking it for over 50 years and you can't fight the feeling because it's the real thing. I will be turning 66 this next Tuesday and the world is going to hell. We must be tolerant and respect the differences in other people. We must respect people of different races,different religions, different genders,different sexual orientation, different physical appearances. In 2021, we need lots of "LOVE". All we need is LOVE, what the world needs now is LOVE sweet LOVE and only LOVE can conquer hate. The 1971 Coke commercial is a classic .I can't get enough of hearing and watching that classic commercial. It makes me feel good inside. The young people of today can bring about social changes worldwide .By showing the world that LOVE can bring about changes and only LOVE can conquer hate.

I saw this coming the minute Coke launched the "Open Happiness" campaign back in 09. With that slogan, you can't help but think, "Hilltop".
This ad still works today. Even more so..
