Soon after my dad died, I played a VHS tribute to George Gershwin for my mom. It concluded with Michael Feinstein. Playing "Our Love Is Here to Stay." The beauty of the song and performance, plus my dad's passing of course had my mom in tears. The opening, at "the more I read the papers, the less I comprehend -- the world and all its capers, and how it all will end" reflects the world that George Gershwin left, on the verge of world war. But the lyric so perfectly says that in spite of it all, our love is here to stay.
I love the music Michael Feinstein makes!
Beautiful performance and what a fabulous verse❤️
What a talented man…. His singing is amazing & his piano playing is absolutely beautiful! I have been listening to him for years but I never get tired of hearing his interpretations of these classic songs!
Thank you dear Michael… for all the hours of joy and sadness you've shared with me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Sent with love. CVD
A GREAT ARTIST...............A NATIONAL TREASURE....GOD BLESS HIM ...AS HE IS AN OASIS FOR THOSE WHO SEEK SONGS WITH ELEGANCE AND STRONG MELODIES............my favorite singer and pianist ...
How could I have left it so late to discover this wonderful piano arrangement of that beautiful Gershwin song? When I leave this planet, not too long hence, i shall have Feinstein's Gershwin in my heart.
Excellent book about The Gershwins and Michael. Very well written. Enthralling!
Awesome, heavenly combo. Gershwin and Feinstein. Does it get much better?!
Apples and Oranges mr Saltzman... Mr Feinstein does this tune more than proud. I shall now go hear your version... now where would that be...??
Well said.
I think he’s great. Piano. Voice. Looks. He’s quite remarkable.
Genius
His last two (the other is Love Walked In), are my favorites. His early death was a tragedy.
He is such a phenomenal historian and performer.
My favorite Gershwin song no doubt. Thanks Michael for introducing me to it many years ago in the A&E Gershwin biography.
How in HELL does someone play like that and sing at the same time? Wonderful!
The master of translating a song.
I've seen Michael in concert 4 time: twice with the amazing Linda Eder, and twice solo.
He may not be the world's greatest pianist or vocalist, but his concerts are always fabulous. He sings some of the best songs ever written.
I'd give anything for his talent.
He has great taste and is interested in music history to the max.
My favorite!
Bravo, bravo, bravo!
Love it
Charming ! I had to do this in "Sprechgesang" (melodramatic recitation, 2 versions), because I do not have a beautiful voice like you. Greetings from Kyoto/Japan !
Great job!
Wonderful interpretation. Congratulations
Great
+Nando Garza Thanks for your feedback.
I live in Little Rock, Arkansas and have most all of Michael's CD's. I wish he would bless our City and perform here. I'd pay anything....sigh.
Holy. Shit. #speechless
THANK YOU! I'm newly in love. Fought it. I lost. I'm in love. As a fellow gay man... THANK YOU!
Didn't realise that you're supposed to pronounce the word 'stay' as 'sterrrrrr'! That makes the music good. I'm learnding!
i worked with his uncle back in 1995 in gahanna ohio his uncle is jack feinstein
If anyone makes a 1930's type romantic comedy shot in black and white. Please put Michael Feinstein doing this in it. Thanks.
there should be some kind of rule somewhere out there in the cosmos that one person can't have this much talent. Ok, you can play the piano, but you can't sing, or, you can sing, but you can't play the piano. I mean, level the playing field.
How about Nat King Cole? For a long time, he considered himself primarily a jazz pianist, and he was a good one.
Very talented, but harmonically his pian playing is rather vapid. No edge
Actually, though it's a perfectly nice rendition, Feinstein is neither a great pianist or sing. For a truly great vocal performance of this tune, see Ella Fitzgerald. Ten times the depth.
