This and Super Metroid are so fun to watch speedruns of, so glad that the Super Metroid Impossible run that Oats did at GDQ a few years ago appeared in my suggestions one day and got me interested in watching speedruns more

@@ArtemisWasHere nobody runs hardmode because it doesn't offer anything interesting. 0% is arguably the most interesting because it necessitates no-hit gameplay since everything from the midgame onwards just oneshots
That was actually not animated manually, that is what we call “inverse kinematics”. The way it works is that the environment moves the limbs. In this instance the foot isn’t moving the switch, but the other way around. What makes the switch start to go down is for Samus to be in contact with it, so one foot is enough to start the switch animation which in turn animates the foot. Do not ask me how I know this since I have never ever in my life animated anything other than maybe a flip book in the corner of a notebook.
Oats, I usually don't comment on these, but this is bar none the hypest fucking shit I've *EVER* seen when it comes to any Metroid speedruns. Is every Any% run like this?????? I was glued to the screen since the beginning. The movement in this is out of this world.
Now that the Dread difficulty has been released since the 2/10/22 direct, are you ready to challenge yourself in achieving a world record without getting hit once? 😏
What's the time difference in grabbing the missile+ in burenia vs doing shinespark there and grabbing the missile+ in gavhoran after supers? I prefer shinespark strat in burenia so I like how you do it, just curious if the time comes out similar.
Hard difficulty only doubles the damage enemies deal. They still go down in the same number of hits as on normal. If there were a "Dread" difficulty, it would halve the damage you deal to enemies, as well as retain their doubled damage to you. Better stock up on at least 100 missiles for Raven Beak...
He has had the normal any% record, but not at this moment. All the records have changed hands quite a bit since the game is new and more tricks are being found.
Congratulations! I know other people are going to be gunning to take the world record from you which is to be expected. yeah bro it's very apparent you are tilted from 1 minute in. take a chill pill and go outside sometimes my guy EDIT: Thanks for the gold kind stranger!!!
the only thing i would like to change add to metroid dread iz....when you charge your beam and or go into a spin jump you can simply touch the enemy to kill them if they are weak enuf....hence you dont need to shoot beam cannon in spin jump
I think he means it would be good if you could just charge up your beam and run into weak enemies to kill them or just spin jump into them without doing any beam charging (a bit like Mario does but without the spin). That's not the Metroid way as it has to be charge the beam plus spin jump to kill enemies aka the pseudo screw attack
You always say that you don't use turbo, but how come you never record a video of your hands pressing the button really fast? It would take you literally seconds to make a clip to debunk the accusations. Just stand up for a second during one of your streams and showcase your button spam so a viewer can clip it.
Already did. We joke about this shit like 500 times a stream because i've shown it so many times and have a clip showing how I mash but you know... looking for that takes effort.

Yeah they're gonna have to change the name of that one to Super Metroid Improbable.

Anyone else crack up laughing at the "heavy left foot" part at 42:48 ? Samus looked so ridiculous, I can't believe that's an official animation! 🤣

How was the handsome runner described?
Dashing!
Holy shnykes! This should be world record by a long shot. The top ranked hard mode time currently is a 1:27 !
My best record is actually on Hard mode. 02:10:03
Cool.
Hahahah another streamer I know 66Samus says Holy shnykes a lot

This man really beat the previous WR by over 10 minutes
Hahaha the roach song while samus rides the train got me
I just beat the game yesterday. Took me over 10 hrs and I'm stoked for run number 2
I kinda love that you keep talking about this as a meme category and then ten seconds later talk about how crazy the damage you're taking is.
This was amazing! Congrats!
Oats you should start every wr run with you talking about how your pickle was hanging out
Samus' movements are so mesmerising
KEEPIN THE DREAD DREAM ALIVE!!
The G.O.A.T, is always OatsnGoats!
You love to see it! Congrats Oats.
Congrats Oas!
Hard is true to its name when it comes to bosses. Golzuna has an attack that does 6 energy tanks of damage!

The masher strikes back! Nice run Oats!, but kind of dissapointing that hard mode doesn`t offer more.
The run was actually amazing! Commented too early. Relatively seen probably the strongest MD run this far(all categories included).
Holy shit, dude! That was amazing!

Sorry you probably get this question a lot but how do you not take heat damage at 26:20 ? I can't seem to find any info on this
Keep rollin' rollin' rollin'
Woah. Truly the goat!
I have just finished played Dread for the first time, so I am now checking speedruns of it.

I just heard "A new record" in smash bro voice 😆
Samus becomes sooo dangerous as the game goes on.
Epic WR Oats ! Hope to catch you live on twitch again soon.
I love this game sooo much.
I only have 20 min, can you finish the game in 20 in plz?
New world record? Congratulations Mr Oats.
How did your first attempt at invincibility not work? Weird
My hard mode time is better than my normal mode time
Jesus, WR by 12 minutes? Goddamn. Congrats Oats!
The turbo controller was a good idea
Makes sense. Nobody can match your mash, so more enemy health means you’ll excel
Wait do the bosses actually have more health? Or is it just more damage? Doesn’t look like extra health as I’m watching
KRYSPX at 1:43 called it
lmfao that proposed "nightmare mode" is quite an interesting p2w model 😂
nice time:)
Congrats. lets see how long it stands!
Why you jumped over it?
What’s your favorite color of soup?
So happy oats got a wr in dread. Immortalised. Has he got one in normal mode tho?

FASTER OATS, DEATHLESS, BREATHLESS
I have one question about this games speedruns that I never understood. Why do runners reset from boss 3 times?
It's to reset the melee counter tutorial flag to set up the camera lock glitch for early screw attack.
These techs are making my jaw drop... pls stop before I contact a physician
So, we've literally gotten to the point where every main boss in the game is skipped huh? I don't even think Super Metroid ever pulled that off.
So dies anyone know if spamus100 ate the shoe like he said he would
1.05?
Future GDQ run? 🤔🤔
