I was born in Glasgow, immigrated to Canada at 10, been here almost 50 yrs. They took the boy out of Scotland but they could never take Scotland out of the boy! Excellent mix - what a treat, all my old favorites!! The Scots & the English were both fierce fighters with noble causes. "Those days are past now, and in the past they must remain" (Flower of Scotland). There are new enemies that require us to be brothers in arms as never before.
Im from Sweden and i visited Scotland in may for the first time, and i most say that the people and the country was amazing!!! I love scotland and i will return....
all i would like to be known as is to be known as the close friend of Scotland. i'll do anything for Scotland and this is a promise... best people, best country. thank you all for everything you did to me. foreigners are that bad after all. i wish one day someone feel for my home country the same way i feel for Scotland. i did live and work in Scotland in everything you can think of. from shops to warehouses to offices to universities...it was always pleasant.
+BarkersBrain Scots came from Ireland, the land north of Hadrians wall was called calidonia after the local tribe. south of the wall was the roman provence of Britanna. The Scots through a process of conquer and assimulatoin formed the most northerly country in the Brittish isles.
I'm from Finland but with Scottish roots. Much of my relatives fought and died against Russians in many wars here in icy-North. I Love Scotland and I love Finland ! - E
I am immensely proud to be English but watching this makes me so proud to be British as well, knowing that I have these brave, fearless and grudgingly respected men as my loyal ally. Long live the home nations, long live the United Kingdom and God save the Queen.
I remember this song since i was a bairn and still i love it so moving heart felt and proud! So many feelings all mixed together ! I'm scottish nothing but scottish never will be anything else but even though i've learn't and lived with many cultures!
thanks for the video, great pics and illustrations, Scottish regiments have a proud and distinguished record of military service in the British Army and long may it continue , respect and regards from England,,, : )
weird my grand-father (at my moms side) is scottish and his great grand-father fought in the black watch during the napoleonic war i think and the grand-father at the side of my dad was french and his great grand-father was in the old guard during the napoleonic wars how did the humanity do so my parents meet just weird
@insanezy I was merely pointing out that the image used is from a painting depicting United States Marines in the battle of Belleau Wood. The men of the 4th Marine Brigade were from every part of the world and certainly many were of Scots decent. It is a common error to mistake US troops in WWI helmets for British Commonwealth Forces. The US adopted the "Brodie" helmet in 1917 and used it into the early days of WWII.
The Scots & the English were both fierce fighters with noble causes. "Those days are past now, and in the past they must remain" (Flower of Scotland). There are new enemies that require us to be brothers in arms as never before.
In WW1 the Germans held the Scottish regiments among the most feared. They called them the "Ladies From Hell" in reference to their wearing the kilt and the ferocity of their fighting.
What is the name of the first song? It touched me very deeply. I Don't know if it was the song our the pictures, but, wonderful. Long live the Scottish!
scotland forever! A well done tribute to the ladys from hell! Fighting for the crown of England from 1633 to now... and what did London? Amalgameted all pride Sco Reg into one! what a shame...
@TheDarkesT44 No, it was earned during the battle of Balaclava where the Sutherland Highlanders, the 93rd regiment of foot, held off an attack by several thousand Russian cavalrymen. The tactic of 2 rank versus cavalry was unusual, but the 93rd's commander was a veteran of many years service and selected the formation. The regiment delivered 3 volley's and the Russian's retired; saving the British Army's baggage train.
Im proud to be a scot and a highlander at that we are a breed of our own, and never retreated in battle. By the way for all my expatriates living in Canada, Thankyou.

The Scots have a long earned reputation as fierce warriors. The Romans knew it and later so did the Norwegians, the Danes and everyone else who came to conquer. My own family history traces its roots on my Father's side to the MacFarlanes, one of the Highland clans. I heard tell of great deeds and men bigger than life since I was knee high. I knew my Father to be a proud, brave man. It gives me a great sense of pride to think that I and my brothers came from such men. Alba gu Brath!
what the name of the first, second and third songs? I have plenty of Scottish blood running in my veins (though i am an American), And i'm proud to know that the boys in kilts are still doing what they do best since the time of Willam Wallace
It's sad also that the Scotts have fought their former French allies when they have fought with the British forces but it's the past and today the British and Scotts and French are strong allies
my last name is Malcolm, so I'm Scottish, but I just would like to know why we wore skirt, or kilts in them days. It just doesn't seem to be a manly tradition. Does anyone know where the kilts for men had their beginnings??
@margaret657 New Zealanders are a proud people in their own right! For that you must be proud of where you are and born. That is not to say be proud of who you are. Be very proud of who you are! I am a Mi'gmaq (First Nations) Canadian, Irish, Scotish and Acadian. I am very proud of who I am, and so should you!
I am a British Scot, and very proud of the fact, born in Glasgow, served in the army as had generations before me. No one will be removing my Britishness any time soon.

Scottish colonization of the Americas comprised a number of failed or abandoned Scottish settlements in North America, a colony at Darien, Panama, and a number of wholly or largely Scottish settlements made after the Acts of Union 1707, and those made by the enforced resettlement after the Battle of Culloden and the Highland Clearances. - Details taken from the Wiki page - search for "Scottish colonization of the Americas.

I think the biggest problem is exactly that, people have forgotten just how important scotland is, people don't realize that a scottish king sat on an english throne to unite the kingdom.
