I'm not what you would call a Glock fan boy but I did get a Glock 44 after months of talking myself out of it, Finally went fo it and was very surprised, it functions as it should, had a few stove pipes when shooting some like 30 year old Winchester match grade ammo. but it has worked perfectly with anything I have fed it, the gun range I go to has a 44 they rent out and claim no one has had any issues out of it out of the norm of a 22, the only downfalls I see and knew of before my purchase, no threaded barrel (cant have in my state anyway) 10 round mag & so far no other options, price, its not as accurate as my MkII but more fun to shoot. I would purchase again and would recommend to a friend, did I get lucky or because of its price and Glock name did it have an expectation of being the ultimate & perfect gun?

Well, this video is now about 2 years old but it is still relevant today with the 22LR Craze going on in the rimfire market! I have always been a Glock Guy all my shooting life for over 25 years and I would have never predicted that Glock would have ever thought to release a gun in 22LR, so my thinking this way confirms that there is a 22LR Craze of some sort happening in the Gun Industry! I had many Glocks in my past and I even carried a G19 as my duty weapon for over 10 years but having said this, I don't believe that anyone can say that the P17 is a so called Glock Killer in any way! At my age of 77, I ventured into the Rimfire market and purchased my very first 22LR Gun because of the ammo shortage and the very high prices of the 9mm round. After reading and doing extensive research, I decided to Purchase a P17 and after shooting about 1000 failure free rounds and 4 months later, I purchased another one and I now have two great 22LR Guns! I think that Glock decided to jump on the Band Wagon just to follow the Trend/Craze but in no way can they be compared to a 22LR Gun like my P17's, which beats the Glock 44 in every way possible! Yes, I am a Glock Lover but I will never believe that it can compare with a P17!

My walther ppk/s .22 was twice the price and has been nothing but heartache. It blew up in my hand within the first 150 rds. The barrel split in the chamber, walther took 6 months putting a new barrel in it, scratched the hell outta the slide and sent ot back to me. I shot less than 50 rds and the hammer reset took a crap and the hammer would follow the slide home each shot. Sent it back again and tols them about the scratches. The gun got a new numbers not matching slide and more scratches on the frame and trigger guard and underside of the new slide and then sent back. The quality control at walther must be non existent. That said, it does run now and with my silencerco sparrow ss on it is super fun. But only came with 1 mag for around 400 bucks. I got so angry i took a ruger mk3 and am having the assasins movie gun made from it. I may end up returning the walther i am so unhappy with it.

Check out the Taurus tx22. I was skeptical at first, but I've put almost 1000 rounds through it with no issues at all, and all different types of ammo as well. I've heard the Kel-tec is great too, I just don't like the looks.

Been wanting a P17 since it was shown at shot show. But they are unobtainable. I've never seen one in the wild. I went and got a TX22 and I'm loving it.

My local gun store had one, and it sat on the shelf for a month or so. I opted for another gun even though the store owner was really pushing me on the P17....now I wish I would have just snagged the dam thing. I think the price was like $280 or some thing

I tried M-22 copper platted ammo for my rifled CP33 and the rounds quickly began tumbling due to lead build up in the barrel... I haven't had a problem with copper jacketed ammo though, like basic Winchester white box.

22 is funny when it comes to ammo. My Ruger Mark 4 sucks in the accuracy department unless I load it with Norma Tac 22. Then it groups like a champ.

Traditionally, the .22 autoloader has been a 10 shot single stack. The High Standard, Colt Woodsman, Browning Buckmark, various S&W, all the Rugers until the LCP, and Walther with thier P22. The reason for this is rimlock, which is a thing. It takes Taurus, who isn't afraid to make a crap pistol because they have in the past, or George Kelgren who is a mad scientist who learns by failure, to change that. I won't fault anyone for making a simple, single stack .22 because the magazine is the largest point of failure outside of bad ammunition.
But yeah, a compact .22 for less than 200 and it eats everything reliably? That is kinda what the market needs. Maybe Glock and S&W should bring Kelgren in as a consultant to fix their magazines.

Just judging by the behavior of TH-cam gun snobs, I'm not so sure the established gun manufacturers think too highly of Kellgren, except for when they're using his ideas.
He's an innovator in a world of profit margin.
Pull up the specs of the Kel-Tec P11 and the Sig p365, and tell me Sig did it first lol
      They just made it better.

I've been looking at getting a Taurus TX-22...
But this is the second video I've seen giving the Keltec P-17 some pretty high marks....
And way you guys could do a little head to head between the two? Run a few drills with each, put a couple hundred rounds through each, some CCI Mini-mags, some Remington thunderbolt, and maybe some federal stuff?
    That would be awesome.

16 round capacity magazine versus 10 round. And the magazines are $8 cheaper than the Taurus. I have a few tourist guns. Worked a gun counter in the late 80s through the 90s. Watch tours evolve into a fantastic firearm company. But the p17 has features that aren't available on the Taurus.

Current videos show that without the can and using average .22 ammo the p17 has a lot of eject problems. It seems to need prime ammo (cci)etc. to function reliably without the extra back pressure created when the can is used. Just my observations.

I just bought mine in Florida for $220 + tax. They are hard to find at a gun store but you could order on off the internet for less money but it would have to be sent to a FFL dealer for extra money. Haven’t even shot mine yet but maybe tomorrow at Shooters World in Tampa, Fl.
