That was one of the BEST Indy 500 races I've ever seen. Congrats to Takuma Sato and Michael Andretti with a great team. You've earned this. Hats off to Castroneves, he gets credit for making this race just as good and gave Sato a good run. And shows he's a good sport giving Sato a thumbs up as he drives by. Great race.
Congrats to Sato! I've liked him ever since he had the balls to pull that banzai move on Dario in 2012 instead of just sitting and running second. And to see him and Castroneves go at it, two of the classiest guys in motorsport.
+Thunder Thank you for writing, but I don't think that's right. Sato was pushed inside not outside, and Sato himself said he slipped on the paint on the line, and that his mistake was trying to line on the line rather than diving in or staying out of it.
ホントに目頭が熱くなる光景だね。よくやった、よくやった!Would've LOVE to have seen him on David Letterman as a guest. Congratulations, Taku-san! Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Such a class act!
@@yas5414 Ya, I love the pure speed of oval races. A lot of oval races can be super exciting since basically anyone can win, and lots of time you don't know who's going to win until there is only a couple laps left.
Wonderful job by a guy who is just hitting his stride at age 40! He just plain out-drove Helio in those closing laps. Truly humble man, that is a credit to himself, his team, and his country. Congratulations Takuma Sato!
What an incredible finish. Saw it live and it is so special... I 1000% recommend everybody do it at least once. Sato & Castroneves raced extremely well at the end
2008年にSAF1が撤退したとき、はたしてこんな未来を予測した人がいただろうか・・・素晴らしすぎです! maybe nobody foresaw this greatest victory when SAF1 became unsustainable in 2008..... Congratulations!!
There are so many things that are great about that race. The very end watching the crew run around looking for anybody to hug always gets me. The emotion of Indy is unmatched anywhere else in racing. Helio is the most professional driver ever. Still giving a salute in pit lane to sato and smiling talking to the captain. I’ve been to the past 16 Indy 500s and for whatever reason this one didn’t stand out to me as much as some others, but what a race and epic dual between two of the most talented drivers in the world, and Max Chilton somehow
+AlecTheMotorGuy the idea is that it's harder to hold a lead for that long with the current design than to take it later and hold for the win for a lap.
MoparMuscle77 The first 10-12 years of the Brickyard 400 the race was sold out or near sellout. Even the Indianapolis 500 was always near sell out. Crowds were bigger for both before the 2000's.
Boa noite !!!! Sem dúvidas, o melhor piloto japonês da história. Absolutamente fantástico. Muito obrigado pelo vídeo e parabéns pelo canal..... Abraço do Brasil.....
Every year a pleasure to watch the Indy 500... There´s just no other race like it. You just don´t see this type of racing anywhere else. And like every other year i feel like we had the best Indy 500, this race simply delivers.
when castronevez made that pass with 7 to go you could not hear anything in turns 3 and 4! IT was deafening! Then Sato taking the victory! what a great race. And seeing the joy from Sato in victory lane almost brought tears to my face.
1:50 & 3:10 Watching this video again and I can't believe Castroneves pulled off the outside move into turn 3 twice in the closing laps. Unbelievable moves. A bit of a shocker actually now seeing this that after pulling off those moves he couldn't win the race.
My Man The Mayor didn't get it done, but I'll settle for somebody I can like...and Takuma is 100% certified HARD CHARGER! Congratulations and drink up all your milk like a true Indy winner!
Coming from a NASCAR fan, this was better than any racing that you will ever see from NASCAR. NASCAR will never be the same as it was before Dale died. I don't care what shitty format is used, but I am done with NASCAR. I will watch indycar now
who the fuck will not jump from this victory? Amazingly beautiful victory. But just could feel the irresistible vive of cocky commenters how they turned their tones. Too clear, thhey don't want Sato to win.
I felt a little strange because Takuma Sato was called “Sato”. It’s the most popular family name in Japan!! Maybe There are about three or four “Sato” in classroom or office. By the way, he’s written “佐藤琢磨” with kanji.
And God punished Dario months later with the career ending crash trying to do the same against Sato once more. Also he broke with Ashley judd, who became a psycopath.
Indy 500 is way more exciting to watch than F1. F1 has put too much emphasis on engine technology than driver's skill. Congratulation to Takuma. Great driver !!
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!!" - Takuma Sato, May 28th 2017.
Best quote of 2017 in my opinion.
Takuma Sato, the first Japanese driver ever to win the Indy 500. Incredible! Way to go!
And now he has done it two times
Hell yeah
And it could be a 3rd this sunday cause hes with Chip Ganassi and Ganassi is Top Equipment so he'll be one to look out for
Sato is screaming like Senna at Interlagos 91, incredible
I agree! I was at that race and I screamed like a girl as a took video of him winning

heck yeah
Were Sato had also had his Podium in F1 in 2004
It was even better being there.🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
Congratulations Takuma Sato...You deserve to win...great race!!
Congrats to Sato! I've liked him ever since he had the balls to pull that banzai move on Dario in 2012 instead of just sitting and running second. And to see him and Castroneves go at it, two of the classiest guys in motorsport.
I was so pissed after that year. Sato deserved the win and Dario pushed him high. Everybody in the crowd gave him the finger as he came around
What race are you talking about, when Dario pushed him high?
greg55666
Dario lifted off the inside line at the apex, and Sato couldn't lift without running out of the line and into marbles.
+Thunder Thank you for writing, but I don't think that's right. Sato was pushed inside not outside, and Sato himself said he slipped on the paint on the line, and that his mistake was trying to line on the line rather than diving in or staying out of it.
Sato has been in the game a long time. I remember watching drive for the Super Aguri F1 team years ago. So happy he has a Indy 500 win!
いろんなアップロード見たけど、涙が出ちゃうシーンだな。。。
おめでとう、琢磨さん!

as a F1 fan I will be watching every Indy 500 now :)
me too. totally mesmerised. cost of getting to it from the UK?
most expensive thing will be your plane ticket. A general admission ticket is only $40
I'm glad there are some F1 fans out there that realize oval races can be great too.
@@LunaticTheCat started watching Indycar in 2018 after being an F1 fan and I love it. Ovals are so good as well.

There is a samurai's victory scream if I've ever heard one. Still gives me chills. So awesome to hear.
Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Well done Takuma!
I'd buy this guy a beer in a heartbeat. What an amazing person
good guy, dirty racer
not necessarily dirty, just crashes a lot

What an incredible finish. Saw it live and it is so special... I 1000% recommend everybody do it at least once. Sato & Castroneves raced extremely well at the end

Glad to see a real gentleman take the checkered flag, bravo!!
He was a complete class act. I was so happy for him
Amazing race. Congrats to Sato. Loved every moment of it.
That was a hell of a run Sato got coming off four he set that pass up perfect. I think he caught Helio off guard by making his move early with 5 left.
could Helio have intentionally let Sato take the lead ?
Justin Wong In the Indy 500 with 5 laps to go? That's a 99.99 percent chance of extremely unlikely
it's a 2.5 million dollar payout, he did not intentionally let him go by.
+AlecTheMotorGuy the idea is that it's harder to hold a lead for that long with the current design than to take it later and hold for the win for a lap.
That crowd was 10× bigger than the NASCAR Brickyard 400. Congrats to Sato.

MoparMuscle77 I saw him drink milk. That is a Indy 500 tradition.
Robert Shinn I enjoyed it. I'm just pointing it out.
Why are you bringing up NASCAR? How is this relevant here?
Congratulations to Takuma Sato, Andretti Autosport. and sponsors. Wel earned!
At least not all their cars had engine problems.....
These guys are absolutely insane
Congrats Sato! This is even more intense than F1

Helio out there giving the thumbs up to Takuma. Castroneves has been a great ambassador for Indy car.

Jennifer N also he deserves a lot a credit for his very clean racing. No scruffy moves, they drove with a lot of respect !

This was the greatest indy 500 I've ever seen.
Finally you made it!As Japanese I'm damn proud of you 琢磨!Congratulations !

Feel-Good win for sure. Congrats Sato. Nice to see a Japanese driver win this race.

Thanks for the video. I had to work today...thanks a bunch!
Who was the genius who switched to showing Sato's team celebrating as he came to the line, and missed showing him cross the yard of bricks?

lmao his radio after he crosses the finish line is hilarious. "AHHHHHHH!!!! AHHHHHH!!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!!" great drive from Sato lol.
